With the death of Margaret Thatcher the song "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead" about to top the charts in England. Update!

Courtesy of The Independent:

Lady Thatcher’s death could propel The Wizard Of Oz track "Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead to the top of the charts.

Those who saw her death as a cause for celebration have prompted a download surge for the track.

Within 48 hours of the former Prime Minister’s death, the song has entered the official UK chart at number 10.

It is expected to climb higher as a result of a Facebook campaign being set up to encourage sales.

The Facebook group, encouraging people to download the "Witch" song to get it to number one, already had 664 members and was originally set up back in July 2007.

The BBC said it would decide whether to play Ding Dong The Witch Is Dead during Radio 1's top 40 countdown when places are finalised this weekend.

In a statement it said: "The Official Chart Show on Sunday is a historical and factual account of what the British public has been buying and we will make a decision about playing it when the final chart positions are clear."

Whew, that is a little harsh!

But clearly it is an accurate representation of how the people of Britain REALLY view the woman referred to as the "Iron Lady."

So much for the Right Wing attempts to sugarcoat her reputation and rewrite the history of her administration. They might be able to fool the conservatives in America, but clearly the memories of the people across the pond are not nearly so forgiving.

Update: The song has indeed made it to the number one slot in the UK.

For sure when Sarah Palin becomes compost, that song will not only be number one in Wasilla and in Alaska but the entire United States of America.

Before that happens, this poor twit over at the Pee Pond would like to see her in England, attending Thatcher's funeral. High hopes!

I've seen no word on who will be attending Margaret Thatcher's funeral and/or the memorial service.
Normally, someone from our government would attend as the official representative from the United States.
But I'm wondering if Sarah will go.
NOT as the official US representative.....I doubt Obama would choose her!!....but as an invited guest of the Thatcher family!!
Sarah going would end once and for all the LIE that Thatcher did not want to meet her!!
So I implore Thatcher's family and official representatives to PLEASE invite Sarah Palin to the memorial!!
She would be a dignified and most appropriate person to TRULY represent the United States.....or at least that part of this nation that most reveres Lady Thatcher!!

OH MY...what an idiot! WHEN has Sarah EVER been "dignified and the most appropriate" at anything? I remember her outlandish outfit at that guy in Alaska's funeral and how she sat and texted or played games on her cell phones throughout the service. And, you really think that Obama would select her to represent the US? What delusional thinking!

I read on Irish site "Rust in Peace, Iron Lady!"

According to a newspaper article I just read, Baroness Thatcher's (not "Lady Thatcher") funeral service has a carefully selected attendance. It is by invitation only and no one without the proper invitation will be allowed. There is also a stated dress code and nowhere did I see the words "hooker shoes", "bejeweled belt buckle", or "child size Superman shirt". I did read that President Obama and Michele were invited guests. Shaking my head that someone actually thinks that Sarah Palin would fit in with that crowd and that anyone in England would welcome her.

I ask you. Does it get any more delusional that this? Sarah wouldn't know 'dignified' or 'appropriate if they came up and smacked her fake glasses off! LOL! A guest of the Thatcher family? Please. These poor deluded bots give pathetic new meaning. Imagine the horror to have The Wicked Witch of the US West showing up to the funeral, the pimp in tow, sucking all the oxygen out of the room with her toxic presence. And as a representative of the United States? <>

Read 'em and weep Sarah. Not only Barack and Michelle, but Hillary is invited as well. They will be joining other world leaders, dignitaries and friends and family, being respectful to another former world leader. YOU however, will NOT be there. You will NOT be invited. You can't even crash the event since it's a MILITARY funeral and they won't let you in if you're not invited. Sucks to be Sarah, eh?

WORLD LEADERS: President Obama and wife, Michelle, are expected to be invited along with the first President George Bush, who was in the White House while Lady Thatcher was in Downing Street, and his wife, Barbara.

Former First Lady Nancy Reagan, 91, will not travel to London and had asked the chairman of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation to represent her.

  3. Oh, yes, my husband was playing Ding Dong the Witch is Dead really LOUD yesterday.

As usual, I’m of two minds. Like Putin, she did her share of foul deeds, and I admit that, but I’m sure the opposition is just as bad; someone like Jesus would be crushed in this modern world.

What I admire is the intelligence and bravery. I can’t see Baroness Thatcher joining the jackals in their group-attack on Melissa Harris-Perry. It would be beneath her.

What I got a kick out of was Palin and the right using her death as an excuse to praise Reagan once again, and even Pope John Paul, for 'bringing down communism.' Those three had nothing to do with the USSR coming apart..the system had been in decline for decades, and they just happened to be world leaders when it finally collapsed. Reagan and his "Tear Down this wall!' crap reminds me now of jet fighter-clad Bush's "Mission Accomplished!" Both men tried to take credit for things they had no impact on at all...couple of cowboy bullies smirking at world events, and making money off them. Sounds like Sarah's kind of hero all right. Thankfully, British citizens have a far better grasp of history than our right wing wackos.

Elton John didn't even bother waiting.

Billy Elliot The Musical has a song called "Merry Christmas, Margaret Thatcher" with lyrics about how they'd still celebrate because it would be one day closer to her death.

I am glad to hear so much has been reported about her real legacy.....good and bad. It is no wonder her BFF was Reagan, they both loved the rich and screwed the working class. It is sickening to keep hearing about Saint Reagan when the truth is so opposite to what the GOP is today. I can only say she was true to herself and stood up with sheer will against the old boys club...that trait is to be admired and sorely lacking today.

How come the UK is celebrating Margaret Thatcher's death (glad she's gone) while Sarah Palin wanted photo ops with her and mourns her?

The same reason Alaskans know Palin is the quintessential quitter and an idiot and some in the lower forty-eight thinks she has a brain. She lived in Alaska and they knew her best.

Thatcher was an idealogue who chose making Great Britain the banking capital of the world over the welfare of millions of its inhabitants. When I lived there the year before she came to power, the unions actually did have far too much power and were partly responsible for running British Leyland into the ground. The bakers union was on strike half the time, along with several other unions.
But.....she went too, too far and left millions destitute and manufacturing centres destroyed. She cared little for the poor and middle class, and focused on the class she aspired to. She changed her accent and the timbre of her voice, and ended up trying to pretend she was Queen.
As for her relationship with Reagan -- well, that says it all, really.
She was despised -- rightfully -- by the vast majority of Britons, and "Ding Dong the Witch is Dead" is a fitting tribute to her.

Oh? For a minute I thought you were talking about Empress Sarah Palin.

Valley Trash Palin always envied, wanted to be and meet Ivanna Trump, Thatcher, and others.

So sad, Sarah is so mentally disturbed I don't think anybody wants to meet her.

I didn't cheer the death of Osama Bin Laden. Or Ronald Reagan, Andrew Breitbart, Khadaffi or Hussein. Some would think it unfair for me to group an American President half the federal buildings in the country are named after and a blogger together like this in a sentiment. But Breitbart really was a piece of shit. And Reagan, well, his glorification is overdone by a noisy but monied minority.

I still felt bad Andrew left young kids behind, and he was relatively young.

I don't care to celebrate the Grocer's Daughter's legacy, or mark her passing from such an unfortunate disease.

    Death comes to us all.
