Courtesy of Fox News:
Fifteen wounded warriors rode with President Bush this year for the Third Annual Bush Center W100K Wounded Warrior Mountain Bike Ride. It was the first time that the mountain bike ride took place on his pastoral ranch outside Crawford Texas, where 43 miles of trails have been built.
Several of the participants told me that they were deeply affected by President Bush’s ability to perform as one of them; spending hours as host talking and joking with them, leading the pack up the pristine wooded and rock-covered single-track trails.
This is the first time a former president has conducted an event of this kind; the first time since Lincoln that one has converted his feelings for the troops into an endeavor to promote awareness and appreciate for the problems facing veterans.
I'm sorry. what the fuck?
George Bush lied these people into a war that bankrupt their country, tore their bodies to shreds, and sent thousands of their fellow soldiers into such a deep depression that their only salvation came from the barrel of a gun.
But they were "deeply affected" by his ability to ride with them using his two good, never went into war, legs?
Yeah bullshit! This is tantamount to a rapist taking his victims clothes shopping for their children.
I would have to imagine that these men were screened VERY carefully and subjected to everything from metal detectors, background checks. and uber aggressive cavity searches. No wonder there were ONLY fifteen men present, that is probably as many veterans as they could find that did NOT want to die in a hail of gunfire while choking the life out of this son-of-a-bitch!
Oh Gryph... tell us how you REALLY feel! :) Spot on! I am so there with you. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteO/T Palin is the pits -- oops I meant Palin in the pits.

43 miles of trails on his 'pristine' ranch? Gee, who exactly paid for the brush clearing and the installation of trails for Bush to ride on? Bet it wasn't GWB. George is acting more like Sarah every day: rewriting and ignoring truth for photo ops.
ReplyDeleteWell, what the heck do you think Bushy was doing on all those vacation days he took during his 8 years in office? The one thing he knows how to do (and likes) is cutting brush.
Deletehedgewytch -
DeleteThe world would have been a better place if he had spent his life working for a local landscaper, cutting grass and clearing brush.
O/T Sarah booed/Pacers lose.

Guess who Palin was cheering for? Guess who lost the game??

Sarah Palin showed on the big screen and booed LOUDLY.
Wow! There may be hope for downstate hoosiers yet. Attention mike pence.
DeleteWTF? Really? So George took time off from painting nudes of himself and sending them to family members, to get a good look at the devastation he's caused----And there was Faux, equating the idiot to Lincoln.
ReplyDeleteThe crazy and profane gets even more crazier and profane every day.
Come on, Fox News. George W. Bush did absolutely nothing, worse than absolutely nothing, for the troops he sent so carelessly to war in the Middle East. The returning dead were hidden from view. Conditions in military hospitals, most notably at Walter Reed, deteriorated badly during his 8-year Administration. Now we're back with the fake meme of "having a beer" with George W. Bush, except that the bicycle has substituted for the non-existent beer. This is all part of the Bush rehabilitation process, designed to fool Americans into supporting yet another (God help us) Bush for president. It is also a deliberate slap in the face at President Obama, who has worked tirelessly on behalf of American military and their families. How sickening - and how typical of Fox News and the Bush family.
ReplyDeleteBeaglemom
Well said.
ReplyDelete"The first time since Lincoln...."
ReplyDeleteHas Fox not noticed what the Obamas are doing for veterans, and how helping returning veterans is one of Michelle Obama's signature projects?
Oh, yeah. Of course they have, but they just lie with impunity and no one will call them on it. If they lie often enough, their viewers will believe them.
Remember how Geo. W. once remarked about how he exercised in the heat -- comparing himself to the soldiers in the Middle East, who not only had to live and work in extreme heat, but had to do it with 90 lb. packs on, living on Army rations, always in danger?
Just remember this, Mr. Fancy Pants Alaska Librul Blogger: besides 9/11, not ONE American citizen died in a terrorist attack while Shrub was reading My Pet Goat to young children, while HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS die EVERY DAY in Benghazi, in what your so-called President Obama dismisses as "arts & crafts accidents". OH, THE SCANDALS!!!! THE SCANDALS!!!!
ReplyDeleteAt least Shrub protected all the MILLIONS of Americans who didn't die on 9/11 and YOU'RE ONE OF THEM!!! Did you die? No? So where's your gratitude, dude?
Yeah, he's a smirking douchebag, a prevaricating sack of shit and a pre-indictment war criminal, but try to be man enough to admit the eight years of Shrub as president could possibly have, in some measurable ways, been even worse than they were!
Also, too, instead of counting the limbs blown off of Americans, try some positive thinking and give thanks to Bush for all the limbs NOT blown off - INCLUDING YOURS, BUDDY BOY - in his Unnecessary Wars!!!!
Finally, as we honor America's military war dead on this Memorial Day, let's pause a moment to thank former president George W Bush for his personal contribution of more than 5,000 to those rolls. Heck of a job, Bushie!! They couldn't have died without you! Ptttuiiiiii!!
His flag decal won't get him into heaven anymore, eh?

NoNoNo Beldar... that would be Jeb's son, whateverhisnameis, who was rolled out last fall right around the time of the regressive convention.
DeleteYeah, that one, and he will have a royal free-for-all with the eldest mafia-looking son of Rmoney! (Don't feel like looking up their forgettable-for-now names).
We may just have to get suited up for that Last Hurrah of our lives to fight them and their supporters tooth and nail.
Whaddaya think?
May I be wrong for the umpteenth time!
When the republicans decide to fund all the issues - health care - education - disability - employment
ReplyDeletethat is needed by veterans - then they will have done their job. Until then Bush owes every single vet much more than a ride on a bike.
Aww, come on Man... poor Bush Baby was just so sad that he, the Lone Ranger, had no one to play with on Memorial Day of all days. He needed the comfort of his fellow veterans!
ReplyDeleteAs for those who came? Why not! There are many who absolutely have to remain convinced that the reasons for their enlistment were valid.
To accept that they were conned into enlisting by duplicitous bastards with hidden agendas would destroy their world view. I wonder how many suicides are the result of that realization.
Would be good if the man had it in him to develop and then donate that whole property as a rehab project for injured veterans. A couple of few millions would do!
YeahNo, such a thought would be alien to him or his neocon cabal. Besides, he had to have that monster library built so that he could prove himself for history! (Rant over for the time being...)
Hope those guys had a great ride, no matter what.
Go get 'im, tiger! Lots of good ideas there, none of which the rat bastards would ever implement, but good ideas, nonetheless.
DeleteRegarding my early support for Shrub's sibling to follow in his stupider brother's footsteps, I strongly believe that as the decades pass, Jebbie's stature and suitability to lead the nation will steadily and slowly - very slowly - rise until sometime in the 2040s - and no later than mid2050s when he'll be approaching the century mark and most people who knew Shrub will be senile or dead - he will break from the pack and become president of United Canamerica. Finally the Bush clan can secure for all time the coveted title of "Worst Family In American History"
Dubya should stick to painting in his padded room.
ReplyDeleteEven worse than the article were the comments at the bottom. I've never realised how stupid Fox watchers truly are until reading those 19 comments. Stupid and terrified of that scary black man in the office.
ReplyDeleteThink about this: if Obama had been honest in 2008 (and 2012, also, too) with the Amercian people and had just confessed to being an actual neegroe instead falsely claiming to be 'a very very very tan white man" we'd probably still have Good Ol' Gramps McCain and The Screechy Wretch(tm) as co-presidents.
DeleteA black man as president... such audacity!
Kenya??? KENYA??? He comes from KENYA???
DeleteDamn, I thought they said he was born in "Canada"!
(Gotta clean out these ears...)
No Canada is that real patriot Teddy Cruz. The one who thinks women are scrum and immigrants even lower on his totem pole.
DeleteLying, conniving, cheating bastard. Stupid as well. I doubt he ever makes the connection between the missing limbs and the decisions he let Cheney push on him.
ReplyDeleteNaw, the "elite" does not see the plebes, dead, dying or missing parts of their bodies. How else can one explain the "I sleep well" comments from the various and sundry neocons?
DeleteWow you're disgusting Gryphen. Your analogies should have you committed.
ReplyDeleteI feel deeply sorry for you.
10:11 AM, Go fuck yourself.
Delete10:11 AM, Go fuck yourself.
DeleteOh don't worry Anonymous 10:11, I AM committed.
DeleteCommitted to reminding everybody that that bow legged POS murdered hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and sent thousands of Americans to their deaths in order to get access to Iraqi oil for his pals at Halliburton and Shell Oil.
There are NO words harsh enough to adequately express my disgust with that sorry excuse fora president and human being.
@11:17AM
Delete+1 plus another 1, for good measure
Thank you, Gryphen, and Beldar for good measure, for the comment about the "collateral damage" inflicted.
DeleteWar is Hell, and its aftermath may not be much better. There always are non-combatants in the way of any war machine.
I remember only too well being a small child on the wrong side of carpet bombing... and that was damn near seven decades ago.
The ONLY truth he spoke in four years:
ReplyDelete"You know, one of the hardest parts of my job is to connect Iraq to the war on terror." --interview with CBS News' Katie Couric, Sept. 6, 2006
And these men who were invited to the ranch lost their limbs. And civilians and soldiers lost their lives. For Bush's lies.
I wonder why female wounded warriors weren't invited? Is Georgie scared that a woman may beat him?
