John Boehner on the IRS targeting Tea Party groups for additional scrutiny: "My question isn't about who's going to resign, my question's about who's going to jail." I'm sorry, those who refuse to pursue criminal charges for 9/11 say what?

"This should make those Teabagging assholes happy."
Courtesy of First Read:

House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, stoked conservative ire toward the Obama administration on Wednesday in the wake of an IRS inspector general report chastising agency employees for subjecting conservative and Tea Party groups to additional scrutiny.

"My question isn't about who's going to resign," Boehner said at a weekly press conference on Capitol Hill. "My question's about who's going to jail."

While the IRS report suggested that the employees' actions were not prompted by any outside influence, Republicans have nonetheless seized on the controversy, and openly suggested that the administration was deliberately targeting conservatives through the IRS.

"Who's going to jail?" JAIL?

Whether or not these IRS employees used poor judgement or not in choosing who they focused on for requesting tax exempt status, and I personally think they did not, what they were doing was still legal and well within their job description.

They did NOT break any laws! (By the way they ALSO targeted some liberal groups, even denying one the 501 status. You just don't see liberals getting their panties in a wad over it.)

And John Boehner, the man who sat on his ass silently while the previous administration lied us into war and buried his head in the sand while they conducted criminal activities that should have seen virtually the entire bunch of them behind bars, KNOWS that!

This partisan bullshit is completely out of control!

The IRS report has already said that there was NO outside influence and the President has reported that he is assigning Treasury Secretary Jack Lew to make sure that the people who demonstrated bias are punished for doing so.

However there is no way these people are going to jail, and Boehner saying that they should is inexcusable partisan grandstanding by somebody who should know better.

So much for the presumption of innocence and innocent until proven guilty.

Boehner is a treasonous, un-American piece of scum.

I am assuming that the Speaker of the House will be just as quick about getting some bankers in jail. Oh, yeah, that was years ago. How about crimes against humanity? Oh, too late. Besides, those weren't Democrats. I am sick and tired of these Republicans trying to find a reason to impeach Obama.

They are really desperate and it shows. Maybe the bigger problem is that the IRS employees were doing the jobs they were hired to do, a completely foreign concept for the gop. They think their main job is to impeach the President. He always looks drunk or else hung over. Boehner should have to take a breathalyzer test every day. Now would be a great time for the "liberal media" to do THEIR jobs, and report the TRUE facts.

John Boehner Jumps The Shark By Demanding Imprisonment For The IRS

Republicans are doing anything they can to turn the IRS into a real scandal, including Speaker John Boehner calling for the IRS to be sent to prison.

Video of Boehner looking oranger and sounding goofier than ever:

Boehner said, “The IRS admitted to targeting conservatives, even if the White House continues to be stuck on the word ‘if.’ My question isn’t about who is going to resign. My question is who’s going to jail over this scandal?”

I can answer that one for Speaker Boehner. No one will go to jail, because no crime has been committed. Once again, this supposed scandal is about tax exempt status. The IRS did not shut down any conservative groups. They simply required more paperwork. Here’s the big shocker. The conservative groups received their tax exempt status anyway. Contrary to what Boehner seems to believe, you can’t send people to jail if they haven’t committed a crime.

With their Benghazi scandal in tatters, Republicans are going to try to turn this IRS mess into something more than it really is.

They are already off on the wrong foot, by sending Boehner out in front of the cameras to make such an absurd statement. This supposed scandal is all about Republicans not wanting the IRS or any other governmental agency getting near their shady billionaire campaign slush funds. Republicans are attacking the IRS because they are afraid that any examination of tax exempt status will open the door to limiting Citizens United.

Republicans are whipping up all of their media patsies including USA Today, who conveniently limited the scope of their story to 2010. They ignored the fact that liberal groups were also targeted in 2011 and 2012, but why let facts get in the way of pushing Republican talking points? First, ABC News has their Benghazi exclusive days before a House Bengazi hearing, and now USA Today reports progressives were given preferential treatment days before a House IRS hearing. It is becoming obvious that Republicans are planting stories in the media in an attempt to further their scandals.

If Republicans want America to buy the bogus scandals that they are selling, they would be wise to tone down the rhetoric. Boehner just helped to push this “scandal” off the cliff, with his completely over the top statement. Republicans are looking for anything to exploit in order to get Obama, but most people didn’t pay attention to Benghazi, and I suspect they aren’t going to bite on the IRS either.

Hey, I pay taxes, and I want these 501(c)4 tea party shams to pay taxes too, if they aren't carrying out the mission of this tax-exempt boondoggle -- they're supposed to be encouraging "social welfare."
If the tea party shills want to push their partisan agenda and not social welfare, they can do it on their own dime and pay taxes as we all do.
That's all the IRS people were trying to do -- catch the liars and cheats who were trying to bend the law to their own ends, and not pay for the privilege of living in this country.

Jonathan Karl Blames His ‘Invented’ Benghazi Reporting On President Obama

ABC News Chief White House Correspondent Jonathan Karl has been doing an interpretive dance around his White House predecessor’s scoop, which refutes some of Karl’s reporting on the Benghazi talking points. In reporting on a newly-released White House email, CNN’s Jake Tapper suggested that Karl’s source “invented the notion” that the White House wanted the State Department’s concerns about the talking points addressed, but as Media Matters points out, it looks like it was Jonathan Karl who invented actual emails out of summaries and paraphrases that were provided by his source.

I’ve been listening to Urban Talk radio of late during my drive in to work and on lunch break (Joe Madison in the morning and Rev Al at lunch).

Joe Madison has been blasting the Republicans and the media this week. It has been a thing of beauty to listen to. The callers to his show know the game as well and if these Republicans think that they are going to try and take this President down based on these bogus so-called “scandals” they are in for a rude awakening. The Republicans will feel their wrath like never before so let them keep overreaching…..

I’d like to say a word or two about a topic that he did touch on this morning (just as I arrived at work and couldn’t hear the end) was the WH’s response to these so-called scandals. I’m also seeing a lot of this in my twitter timeline. There seems to be this notion that the WH isn’t getting out in front of these issues as fast as some would like.

Now, if I said that at times I don’t get frustrated with our rapid response team I would be lying. I do, but what I have learned to understand is that there is a process to everything. This President would rather be right than first. Meaning he won’t send folks out to say things until he knows all the facts. He also is the President of the United States and people that want him to go crazy on the Republicans every time they do something crazy just don’t understand this man. He is not a cowboy and he is not a thug so folks need to stop expecting him to act like one.

All those saying that the President should have been out front on the AP scandal because the notification from the AG’s office was sent on Friday have to understand that the AG’s office is an independent entity. They cannot coordinate with the WH on any legal matter. So the WH found out when we found out and there wasn’t a doggone thing that they could have done about it. Also, the WH cannot dictate to the Justice Dept how to do their job. It just doesn’t work that way. The media was going to take the side of the AP whether or not the breath of those subpoenas was appropriate or not because that’s what they do. This is the same media who all stuck together and pushed back when this WH tried to take on Fox news in the early years of his Presidency. It’s a strong union and they feel if you come after one of us (even the illegitimate ones) you might come after all of us.

On the Benghazi lying email mess…IMO, we probably should/could have seen this coming knowing how rabid the Repubs Faux News crowd has been about this topic but you can only respond to what you know so how could the WH react any faster to this story until the story broke? The “blockbuster” story that Karl broke was on Friday. Someone “notified” certain media types on Tuesday morning about the “actual” email but shouldn’t the emphasis be on the lying, bogus, good-for-nothing media that ran with this story without any due-diligence?

Look, I get that we are frustrated that our media sucks and that the President doesn’t appear to have the same level of respect or support from the Dems on the Hill that the Clinton’s had and our silly party will join right in with the right condemning him without all the facts and that this WH doesn’t spend all its time trying to figure out ways to annihilate the Republicans. I get that, but President Obama sees that as counter-productive because he has far more supporters outside of the beltway and he is trying his best to harness that support into action. He needs your voice everywhere you can raise it to inform, enlighten and engage the public. So before going public with your frustration remember that this President has been fighting every single day that he has been in office. They can try with all their might to bring him down but we must always remember our role is to continue to take him higher.

Holder To Issa: Your Conduct Is ‘Unacceptable’ And ‘Shameful’ (VIDEO)

At a House Judiciary Committee hearing, Eric Holder and Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) clashed as the Attorney General tore into the Republican oversight chairman's conduct as "unacceptable" and "shameful."

Issa aggressively questioned Holder about the Obama administration's discussions with Labor Secretary nominee Tom Perez, and suggested that there was a violation of the Federal Records Act that the Obama administration was covering up.

A visibly frustrated Holder interrupted to dispute his claim.

"No, no, no, that's -- I am not going to stop talking now," he said.

Issa called on the committe chairman to ask Holder to stop talking, but Holder refused.

"It is inappropriate and too consistent with the way in which you conduct yourself as a member of Congress," the attorney general said. "It is unacceptable. It is shameful."

Now I realize that it might not be a scientific poll since it has a sample size of three (John Boehner, Sarah Palin politicking last yr in AZ, and Mitt Romney during the campaign when he spoke to Telemundo), but three out of three seems to be more than a coincidence.

Republicans Demanded an Investigation into AP Leaks; Now They’re Blaming Obama

In the lead up to the 2012 elections, Republicans were upset that the Obama administration was getting such great press on national security issues, so they pretended to be upset about the national security implications of the leaks to the AP.

In the spring of 2012, 31 Republicans called for AG Eric Holder to investigate the leaks after they accused the Obama administration of leaking stories about his toughness on terrorism to the press in order to win an election.

The Hill reported on the Republicans’ letter:

“The numerous national-security leaks reportedly originating out of the executive branch in recent months have been stunning,” they (Republicans) wrote to Holder.
“If true, they reveal details of some of our nation’s most highly classified and sensitive military and intelligence matters, thereby risking our national security, as well as the lives of American citizens and our allies. If there were ever a case requiring an outside special counsel with bipartisan acceptance and widespread public trust, this is it,” they wrote.

Republicans had really hoped the AP scandal would stick, especially with Benghazi Gate backfiring on them in numerous ways, not the least of which was the revelation on Tuesday that ABC had not actually read the emails the Republicans were using to indict the White House, and in fact the actual email said something quite different than was reported. It turned out that the email had been edited in the way it was reported so as to deliberately make Obama/Clinton look bad.

However, the AP scandal is also dying because there is no scandal. The phone records of the AP reporters were obtained legally (I’m not condoning what many see as the chilling of the press, I’m simply pointing out that it was done legally).

The Obama White House asked on Wednesday for the media shield law to be reinstated, “The Obama administration sought on Wednesday to revive legislation that would provide greater protections to reporters from penalties for refusing to identify confidential sources, and that would enable journalists to ask a federal judge to quash subpoenas for their phone records, a White House official said.”

Even worse for Republicans, AG Eric Holder recused himself from the decision to subpoena phone records of Associated Press journalists, so Republicans can’t even try to get him fired over their sudden interest in the rights of the press. (This isn’t stopping them from trying, of course. Logic and reality have no place in the never ending soap opera of hysterics.)

In June of 2012, the House and Senate Intelligence Committee leaders sought legislation to (emphasis mine) “strengthen authorities and procedures with respect to access to classified information and disclosure of it, as well as to ensure that criminal and administrative measures are taken each time sensitive information is improperly disclosed. We also intend to press for the executive branch to take tangible and demonstrable steps to detect and deter intelligence leaks, and to fully, fairly, and impartially investigate the disclosures that have already taken place.”

The investigation appears to be aimed at the leak rather than at the press, but the leak is a source and so it takes aim at the press regardless of its intent. But now Republicans are outraged that the DOJ is killing freedom.

GOP Whips Up Scandals to Avoid Facing Obama’s ‘Most Rapid Deficit Reduction since WWII’

If you were wondering why Republicans can’t stop screaming hysterically about fictional persecutions and scandals, it’s because the deficit is no longer their Big Thing. The “emergency” of the deficit – so important that Republicans had to risk global fiscal confidence – took a backseat to constantly shifting, hysterical and unfounded scandals du jour recently. It turns out that ‘the President’s policies are contributing to the most rapid deficit reduction since World War II.’ Ouch. Change subject!

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office reported a continued decline in the federal budget deficit: “The CBO projects a $642 billion budget deficit for fiscal year 2013, down more than $200 billion from its February estimate and the smallest annual shortfall since 2008. It is the lowest level of deficit spending to date under President Obama, who faced $1 trillion or more in annual deficits during his first term.”

Here’s a real bitter irony for the GOP. At the same time as their ideology took an ugly beating in the reality department, the man they are determined to destroy has a better record at deficit reduction than any of their recent Presidents. In fact, government spending under President Obama has grown at a slower rate than it did under any president since Dwight D. Eisenhower, according to Bloomberg (that’s over 50 years ago, if you’re counting). Ironically, this fact is due in part to their own obstructionism and President Obama’s endless compromises with them.

The White House isn’t averse to rubbing it in. Office of Management and Budget spokesman Steve Posner summed it up in a way that must hurt, “The improvements in this CBO report are yet more evidence that the President’s policies are contributing to the most rapid deficit reduction since World War II.” Is that accurate? Why, yes, actually, it is.

Interesting to see the marriage of one of Boehner's daughters last weekend -- to a Jamaican Rastafarian, with braids down to his waist.
Boehner looked almost as dark as the bridegroom.

I report all this only because these Rethugs, when you look at their families, are just like the rest of us. Gingrich with his lesbian sister, Portman with his gay son, Boehner with his mixed-marriage daughter (the bride displayed a large round-the-arm tattoo with her white dress), Sanford with his marital hypocrisy. And on and on -- you can fill in the blanks.
They can pretend to the fundamentalists and tea baggers that they represent the prim-and-proper, coloring-inside-the-lines founding fathers, but, in fact, their families tell a much different story. To wit, we all live in the 21st century. Get used to it, guys.
