Celebrity Wife Swap Open Thread. Update!

I am putting this up just for those who might be interested in commenting during the program.

As usual I am going to be several hours behind most of you, but I will do a write up in the morning.

You know, once I sober up.

Update: Here is a recap of the show from somebody who has already seen it.

First of all, anyone watching this would never believe that Tripp is 4!!

But he is so unruly and rude, OMG, I already knew that, but he's really a brat and Melissa said 5 minutes into it that he has no manners!

And why does Bristol have her coat on in the house?!! In LA!! She's wearing a down jacket inside the house! OMG this is too much. So much to say.....

If Bristol has one of those bands they don't make you stay trim. The laxatives, RedBull and all the Palins are known to do, aren't necessarily lasting. Sarah is more strung out and she is staying skeletal.

No way is he 4 years old. I'm betting on 6. He would only be 4 if his father were 6' 8" tall (in which case he'd look appropriately tall for that age). But since his mother is a shrimp and his father is not tall, that only adds to my conclusion (that he may appear shorter than his actual age), and I'm sticking with it. Everyone should be checking his teeth: are they, or even some of them, adult teeth? If so, end of story.

But that was QUITE the change from beginning to end. Tripp is a smart kid, who learns FAST.

    10. Anonymous6:30 PM

I think Willow learned a lot. Meaning, she learned she needs to not goad Tripp and bait him. But you have to hand it to him, the kid learn fast and does know manners when it comes down to it.

My granddaughter is 6 and she is losing teeth like crazy..I think 7 are out already. Wouldn't put it past Bristol to get some fake teeth if he loses them soon...don't want anyone thinking the kid is his real age after all.

Why? He's 4 and obviously an outdoors kid. But he picked things up well and said please etc. AND, considering that he sleeps with both Bristol and LEvi (at his house), that was impressive how he pretty easily slept in his own bed.

      Delete
    2. Anonymous7:19 PM

What do you mean he's an "outdoors kid?" Is that like an outdoor cat vs. an indoor cat?

If he "learned" that easily it means he knew all along how to have manners and also knew he didn't have to have them in front of his mother.

      Delete
    3. Anonymous7:47 PM

Outdoor kids poop in the woods with the Pope. Indoor kids (boys) pee on the toilet until they go off to college. If they don't go to college, they never get their aim down.

She was there, and she got a trip to England out of it, but I wonder of she ever got a certificate, or if she is actually licensed. You can take all the classes you want, and pay the big bucks for a fancy school, but you still have to pass the licensing exam. Funny how Sarah hasn't tweeted about how hard Willow is studying for her exam..and hasn't it been a year now since she 'graduated?'

There was a posed hair skull picture of Willow and other hair skullers at the saloon doing Vidal Sasoon hair cuts. It looked like Willow didn't have a clue and it was a set up. You would think that Willow would jump at an opportunity to practice her skills, gain experience and add to her CV. Melisa was very generous to make the offer and judging from her expression when Willow turn it down flat she was truly baffled by Willow's lack of ambition & appreciation.

Bristol also refused to be on Joan's show and insisted that she would just be an observer. Neither Bristol nor Willow seem to be motivated to accept new challenges in their lives and seem to be content to stagnate.

I just watched Wife Swap, my favorite one by far. You have just got to love the Palin family. It showed the love between grandson and grandfather, Tripp and Todd. And at the end, even Joan Rivers had tears coming down saying she just loved Bristol. When you meet Gov Palin and her family, minds change. I have been hearing stories and reading stories about how nice a person Gov Palin is and how the media has lied about Gov Palin. Now I no why they did this show, you have got to reach the masses and ABC is a major network because people can get it free on antenna. I actually didn't think I would like Celebrity Wife Swap, but I did.

Like Mother, like Daughters....what rude and ungrateful paranoid immature brats they are. Bristol feels so "victimized" and says she was "set up"? WTH? All she had to do was at least involve herself in the conversation at the dinner table and stand her ground. No....she was snippy & rude and then complained about it later. Melissa offers Willow one hell of an opportunity to show off her newly learned "hair school" skills by arranging a deal with an ABC affiliate for Willow to do the anchor's hair before the news. (I would have jumped at this if I was a rookie, talk about a way to get your business started, right?)What did Willow say to that? "NO! I don't wanna do it.....whah whah". Rude & insulting and it just goes to show that the only reason she went to Arizona was to get away for a year and basically DO NOTHING. I sense she just wants to ride on the coattails of Mom & Sister, use their money & be supported, and then change her mind and decide to "do something else" or just get pregnant & get married....

Bristol also REFUSED to WORK on Joan's show. Wasn't that the entire point of this program? You swap lives? She flat out refused to work. She said "I don't wanna do it....whah whah....". Guess it runs in the family.

    What losers.
And now they're talking about this being a set up.

No comment on Tripp's behavior. He doesn't behave like this when he is with his Dad & Sunny. He obviously rules the roost when he's with his Mom & Willow. Bristol may be a Mother as far as giving birth to him, but she isn't a PARENT.

She is raising him to be a 1st class brat. What a shame.

OMG - Tripp is one ill mannered kid and that all goes back to Bristol and Willow. Of course, this just goes back to how Sarah and Todd raised them. Bristol played the victim, but Joan was not buying it. Willow turned down an opportunity that anyone who had just actually graduated from cosmetology school would have jumped at. I seriously doubt that Willow ever even graduated.

All in all, the Palins are shown to be very shallow, lazy people and have absolutely no structure in their life. Education plays no role in their lives.

This show was NOT a plus for the Palins but I'm sure that the spin will reflect on it differently.

  18. Anonymous5:30 PM

Well, it was a vacuous but cute show. Tripp is cute, no doubt, and Cooper is a sweet boy. The presentation of their home life is totally exaggerated; I doubt that Melissa Rivers doesn't take time off with her son to get away and relax, nor do the Palins just sit around and go muddin' and eat moose liver all the time.

The difference between all other reality tv players and the Palins though is that they actually think that people believe this crap. Audiences just want comedy and feather-light entertainment and are smart enough not to believe these presentations are real.

I wouldn't use this episode as a gauge to observe what Willow and Bristol are really like. It's the shows goal to present them as hicks from Wasilla; in the same manner it's goal is to present the Rivers as obsessive over-ambitious glam queens.

All it shows is that the daughters of an ex-governor have caught the bug of celebrity-dom and will cash in as long as they can. It won't affect B or W, but it will affect Tripp long-term. He shouldn't have been involved in any of it. He's had to live in a very unconventional existence being jetted to and fro in studios, on camera, magazine photo ops, since he was a baby. He's moved back and forth from AK, CA, AZ more times than the average American. His restless jet-setting extended family are here today, gone tomorrow, there is no constant in his life and it is tragic. When SP brags about her Alaska small-town credentials, she forgets her grandson has been forbidden to experience the traditional small-town America she constantly boasts about, because she taught her family to seek fame above all.

Cooper has grown up in the 'business' and may have positive enforcements to help him deal with it, and is old enough to understand. But, the grandson of a woman who wants to provoke for attention and is an attention diva, and who is told that he, his mom and grandma are always being victimized by media, is going to have a hard time to adjust to life. It won't matter if he lives in a small town or not.

Tripp lives in a suburb of Anchorage. Some might say Anchorage and burbs are a small town. Tripp will want out and to yo yo back and forth as a way to solve his problems. He has learned that much. Too bad Levi and Sunny have not been able to pay more attention to what he has been subjected to all these years.

Levi has tons of documentation of how he is treated and the problems if he can get it together.

Bristol can earn enough to pay a good amount of child support.

Now is not the time to disrespect Ronald Reagan. The Republicans are on a downward slide. Verify. If Tripp is 4 yr old we will know when we see the documents.

I wonder how much sugar he was promised or given to have him seem adaptable.

Wasilla is located in the Matanuska-Susitna area near Palmer. Wasilla has a population that has grown, but is considered a small town. Anchorage has a population of 360,000+.

Alaska is a large state in land mass, but small in population - 600,000+ statewide.

The plus is that Levi and Sunny (and his little sister) provide good family time (when they have him and I have no idea how often that is?). They get him outdoors where he can experience small town Alaska - fishing, the outdoors, etc.

I hope they have a lot of access to him.

We must face facts. 25% of Americans are living with IQ's under 100. They slurp this crap up because it titillates the only part of their brain that is active. Their pleasure center drives their lives, that's why they have too many children and believe in god, regardless of the consequences. They also watch shows like Wife Swap. TV execs love this demographic of lazy folks just sitting around watching any crap they throw onto a channel.

I watched Wife Swap once when I was staying in a hotel and had the tv on for company. It was the one where the belly dancer switched places with the farm wife. The farm wife made the belly dancer's kid cry. The belly dancer made everyone on the farm uncomfortable. It was a hot mess. The show isn't about "learning." It's about spectacle, just like every other reality tv show out there. As usual, Bristol has made a spectacle of herself.

Willow and Bristol are both damaged young adults. We have seen their shockingly bad behavior for years, now we see another side of them and its very different from how they acted in that other reality show. They were insecure to a fault and neither had any parenting skills at all. They had no role models growing up and had nothing to offer Tripp.

I suspect that they were brow beaten to do nothing to embarrass their mother and they were terrified and could do nothing but refuse to play and they both missed out.

They are still acting as passive aggressive as always and no wonder Tripp has the reactions he has. All the blame and excuses the Palins are known to come up with will never improve any thing in their or tripp's life. They seriously need to grow up. Time is running out. The next reality show will be a worse failure if they don't have a strong person to contrast with.

Their enablers are determined not to give them an honest assessment and they will not be a friend that can help them grow.

Bristol and Willow are first of all, intellectually challenged, and secondly, uneducated. The operate using their brain stem and function on basic needs, i.e. hunger, sadness, happiness, anger and neither touches on any higher level of being. That being said, they deserve each other and perhaps they will end up in a Grey Gardens type life there on the shores of Lake Lucille and once Tripp grows up and comes to terms with his terrible rearing he may bring them a hot meal every so often, unless he is in jail, which seems to be his path in life.

THat was a great episode. You can tell Tripp is used to being outside being a boy. But man is he smart. He picked up chores like a pro. And Im sure he was glad to get his "real" mommy back, given how he called Melissa the fake one. FOr a 4 yr old, that was probably hard to adjust to but honestly, you'd never know that by how easily he adapted to everything in the end. And considering he sleeps with BRistol AND with Levi (pictures), that was impressive how he pretty easily slept in his own bed THAT quickly.

His bond with Todd made my heart smile, as did Joans emotion at the end. This show is ALL about learning. While Bristol obviously knows who she is and enjoys her small town life, she did enjoy spending time with them obviously. And im pretty sure Cooper loved eating in the kitchen. LOL

And honestly, I know Willow took her Boards tests right after this show, but I actually didn't mind her saying no to Melissa. I think it took balls to turn down something on tv and basically admit she's not at that step yet. IT's admirable in a large way.Admitting weakness is something MANY cant do.

It's so funny how this show about Bristol brings her loyal fans here to defend her. First of all, she didn't really feel set up, it's just an act. Albeit, a stupid act, because this doesn't require talent and makes her and her family a laughing stock. Bristol is laughing all the way to the bank now. She doesn't give a hoot who likes her or doesn't.

The whole Palin clan laugh in the faces of their haters AND their loyal admirers. They have absolutely no loyalty or patriotic allegiance to anyone, anything and don't care if they've been set up, as long as there's a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. This fake "boo-hoo, I'm a victim meme, created by the Palins and the Reality Show makers is a profiteering-enterprise and only that.

Bristol doesn't care about anything, but for the fame and money she derives from this. I don't for one second believe she has low self-esteem, insecurity, or shy or victimized by perceived 'haters'. She creates her own reality by provoking her mother's critics, then uses the negativity to make herself a victim and voila! She's rich beyond her wildest dreams.

I feel for this family, especially for the young ones. They have been damaged and bruised by endless attacks, caused primarily by their own protectors, their parents. The parents are playing games with the delicate emotional states of their kids minds, by publicly claiming they are threatened, bullied, hated, while they, the parents (Palins) insist on being in the limelight time after time. Sarah Palin never turns down a chance to post pictures and photos and drop updates on her kids' activities. She wants people to quit talking about them, yet she's constantly throwing their names in the snake-pit. It's a never-ending cycle of crying wolf, and reaping people's pity money. All of it is sick, sick, sick.

INTERVENTION PLEASE, for the children's sake. Doesn't anyone in Alaska have any ounce of compassion for these kids? Is there nothing that can be done? I've never seen such abuse of children, which goes unchallenged by the proper authorities, in my lifetime.
