Shaykh Abdullah bin Bayyah visited the White House where he met with senior advisers and aides to President Obama and called for the protection of the Syrian people and the Muslim minority in Myanmar.
The distinguished scholar Professor Abdullah bin Bayyah, President of the Global Center for Renewal and Guidance and Vice President of the International Union of Muslim Scholars, visited the White House where he met with Ms. Gayle Smith, a senior aide to President Barack Obama, and Mr. Rashad Hussain, U.S. Ambassador to the Organization of the Islamic Conference. He also met with a number of experts including the director of public relations in the White House and representatives from seven government agencies.
Shaykh Abdullah bin Bayyah addressed the audience by speaking about humanity’s need for two kinds of justice, namely: a) justice in which everyone is equal and one person does not oppress another, nor does one state oppress another state, and b) a justice specific to the powerful, which is to help lift the injustices from vulnerable peoples such as the Syrian people, the Palestinians, and the Muslims in Myanmar. In this context, Shaykh bin Bayyah thanked President Obama for demanding the rights of the Rohingya minority in Myanmar (formerly Burma) during his recent visit there. Likewise, the Shaykh called on the U.S. government for urgent action to help lift the injustice on the Syrians.
Apparently Palin's advice is to bar influential Muslim clerics requesting help for their people from having access to officials in America, Or simply have them refuse to speak to them, even if by doing so we could perhaps develop a relationship that is not based on us bombing their countrymen back into the stone age.
You know the part that REALLY irritates me is that the Republicans have been beating the drums trying to get the President to get more involved in Syria, yet as he is trying to gather data on who to help, and how to help them, he gets this dipshit and her pals at Fox News attacking him for it.
Its called diplomacy, and if the White House aides refused to meet with anybody from the Middle East even tangentially connected to a possible "pro-terrorist" group, who would they have left to meet with?
Perhaps she would like to bring these concerns up with David Plouffe? After all that worked out so well for her last time.

If we are going to get involved taking sides in a issue that affects Muslims, then I am happy to weigh in on Sarah Palin's facebook page endorsing Franklin Graham's charity in Sudan. The Muslims in Sudan brutally murdered the Christians in South Sudan. The situation was so extreme that South Sudan, an independent country, was created as a place of refuge for those who were being attacled. George Clooney and Ann Curry went there and filmed in Sudan before the United Nations voted to give independent status to South Sudan. Sarah and Franklin had been planning a mission to Sudan-- at the very same time that South Sudan would become independent-- not good timing-- so they cancelled their trip (and Sarah's foreign policy experience). The moral of the story is that Franklin Graham (and Greta) are giving aid to terrorists who kill in the name of Allah, and Sarah has teamed up with them, posting their video on her Facebook. Pot calling the kettle black? Stop pointing fingers, Sarah! Sudan is not the country that you should be supporting.

The President also met with the head of the Peoples Republic of China, a communist country. Where was Sarah's outrage at that visit? China tortures their political prisoners. They practice human rights abuses. The President (and his advisers) should be able to talk to anyone and everyone.

DeleteBack for a minute to the post yesterday with Mercede weighing in. In the photo, it loooks like there is very bright Sunshine. The baby she is holding looks to be 2-3 months old. If Tripp was born in December, that makes it Feb or March, isn't it really dark most of the day? If TRipp was born in April, that make it June or July in the picture, when it is really light most of the time? Can anyone familiar with the Johnstons tell if the picture was taken in their home, where the windows are, and try to guess what time of day it was?

During Feb and March the light is very low, but regaining intensity, as it seems to be when streaming through the window in the Mercede photo. This light condition seems to be consistent with what is occurring in the early spring months at our latitude, 61 degrees north.

There's ample evidence that none of the babies were born on the day of the wild ride. I believe these things because there's evidence for these things. Insisting on a pet theory that isn't supported by evidence is what's known in my circles as faith-based science.

A lot of us knew Sarah would fall apart if Todd was not with her like the days he was copied on her emails and sat in on her meetings. It was only a matter of time before Sarah Palin blew up and embarrassed Alaska.
A whole bunch of us campaigned very hard against Mrs. Palin when she was running for Governor. She barely squeaked by in winning the race. So many people have known for so long that she is just stupid, plain and simply stupid; incapable of learning, living on a most basic level of intelligence and having no concept of anything outside of her family and Wasilla. She couldn't even manage to live in the Governor's mansion in Juneau as she was out of her element. As she proclaimed proudly she is "Valley Trash" and she got really lucky getting elected as both Mayor and Governor. She had the other brain dead evangelicals on her side and they pushed all of her electoral victories. Very happy that our country as a whole is much smarter than the voters here in AK or we'd have ended up with her as VP. Alaska is wonderful and full of many wonderful progressive people. Problem is, we're also full of with stupid religious people and folks in the villages that will believe anything they are told and vote for a person that blows smoke up their butts but never deliver (See exhibit A: Lisa Murkowski's write in campaign...she lied her ass off to everyone, and especially natives and once she was reelected she went back to her original platform of ignoring Alaska's most grievous issues).
