Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

The return of Stephen Colbert, and his beautiful and emotional tribute to his recently deceased mother.

Stephen's tribute was very poignant, and the few times he struggled to compose himself were heartbreaking.
He is clearly a son who adored his mother and have little doubt that she adored him as well.
It was a beautiful tribute. Stephen's Dad and 2 older brothers were killed in a plane crash when Stephen was about 9. Dad was taking the 2 boys north to a prep school. I was so sorry that his sister lost her Congressional election to that ultimate loser/liar Sanford.
Watch Stephen Colbert's Heartwarming, Tearful Tribute to His Mother
On Wednesday night's Colbert Report, Stephen Colbert paid tribute to his mother, Lorna Colbert, who died last week at the age of 92. Colbert opens the show with the tribute, explaining why he's been out for the past week, and, in a rare break from character, movingly tells his audience about his mother's life, her childhood, how she met her husband, her faith, and her love for her children.
Stephen Colbert's mother raised a very good man. He spoke out for the rights of migrant workers (and even spent a day in their shoes), and he speaks out against injustice.
He actually caught me off guard and pushed me to tears with his tribute to his mother. It was very moving and speaks volumes about the man she raised. She did an excellent job.
How he was able to convey what his mom meant to him in life and the loss he feels while remaining composed amazed me. He paid her the ultimate tribute by staying true to himself.
It is rare to be able to witness a tribute like this. Stephen spoke about his family many times and by name. We learned his mother's name, Lorna, years ago and for all of us with mothers, we smiled. I am still smiling because I not only miss my mother but try to this day to remember and act according to her expectations. Bravo Stephen.

ReplyDeleteI took me awhile to be able to watch it. We should all be so lucky as to have family ties like that.

I miss my mother all the time, although I didn't get to have her as long as Stephen did. Every day, in little ways, I treasure her spirit.
