Courtesy of Arkansas Online:
Sen. Jeremy Hutchinson, R-Benton, is interested in exploring whether state law allows school districts to make decisions on school safety. If a legal avenue does not exist, he hopes the Legislature will change the law.
After the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut, Hutchinson became interested in arming school personnel, he said. He was invited to attend an “active shooter” training and - using a rubber bullet-loaded pistol - he mistakenly shot a teacher who was confronting a “bad guy.”
The experience gave Hutchinson some pause, but he still supports giving schools the authority to decide how best to secure their campuses.
It "gave" him "some pause?" If accidentally shooting somebody with a rubber bullet, while in a training to arm school teachers, only gives this guy "pause" then what would it take to convince him that it is a dangerous, and potentially fatal, idea?
As you may remember the Clarksville School District had applied for a license allowing them to arm teachers only to have the Attorney General, clearly a man with the ability to recognize stupidity, stop them in their tracks.
However three school superintendents and Hop-a-Long Cassidy up there are trying to find a way around the AG. Which in my opinion makes them unfit to make decisions pertaining to young children.
I certainly hope that the parents in these Arkansas school districts rise up and tell these idiots that more guns, and more bullets, does NOT add up to more safety.
Perhaps they could just take that "active shooter" training to thoroughly convince themselves of that fact. Assuming of course they are more intelligent than this State Senator.
This guy is an elected official? What is wrong with this country? My only conclusion is that the GOP plans to make public schools so UNSAFE that people will be clamoring to get their kids into those unregualted charter schools, or better yet, the religious schools who will require nothing and teach nothing to the tea baggers' children, ensuring they all vote GOP like Mama and Dada forever. And they think liberals 'have an agenda?'
ReplyDeleteI suspected, before even reading this and just looking at the photo, that the guy was a Republican from the south! Fat, white one to boot! They all look and act alike as horrible as that is to say!
ReplyDeleteUgly old white fat fuk! He suffers from mentalpause.
ReplyDeleteSorry for the OT, Gryph, but words fail at this latest tweet from the tundra turd:

"LET ALLAH SORT IT OUT 'So we’re bombing Syria because Syria is bombing Syria? And I’m the idiot?' - Sarah... http://fb.me/J5TdT7uE"
This makes me so angry, especially when I think of those poor dead children. Christ, she is a fucking poisonous carbuncle.
Oh, and Sarah? Yes, you are the idiot. Never doubt that.
Good thing this bozo, Sen. Jeremy Hutchinson, R-Benton, wasn't armed with an automatic assault rifle. Just imagine the damage he would have caused.
ReplyDeleteGryph, she just tweeted a goodie.
ReplyDeleteLetting her bigot freak fly.

This wasn't a teacher that was being trained, this was a interloper.
ReplyDeleteI still feel that people should be making decisions about their own safety, at the local level. Can you imagine someone born and bred from LA trying to survive a survive an Alaskan winter?!? Might make a good reality show, but a short one!
Don't try to run my life and my town, when you have no vested interest in the outcome!!! You don't live here, you don't send your kids to the same school, and any decisions that you make for me don't affect you life, so you can go fly a kite.
Dumb-Ass!
Unless they threw the LA native out into the Alaskan wilderness with nothing but a buck knife, I don't see why he couldn't survive the Alaskan winter.
DeleteI don't understand the point you might be trying to make. This is about a school district in Arkansas, not Alaska. And, I daresay, anyone could "survive" a winter in Alaska or do all Alaskans live in igloos from November through May? And we should all be concerned about local decisions if they are stupid or if they are cruel or if they might endanger people.

This is purely in the hypothetical because I don't think actually getting shot with a real bullet is a good idea. A Rubber bullet during practice "Gave him pause", how about we re enact the incident with the one rubber bullet using the Republican Pillsbury Dough boy from Arkansastan as the "victim". Would that change his mind about real bullets?
ReplyDeleteAgain, this is hypothetical and for illustrative purposes only. Not condoning gun violence.
