"Daddy I Do." Perhaps the creepiest trailer for a video that I have EVER seen!

Apparently this trailer is from 2009, bit this is the first time I have stumbled across it.

And here is the site where you can buy the video. It actually says "intended for home use only."

As if I was not disturbed by this enough, my daughter happened by while I was watching it, and told me that this kind of thing was done by EVERYBODY in the Fundamentalist church in Georgia that she used to attend.

In fact, unbeknownst to me, she was encouraged to approach me about participating in the ritual with her. She flat out told them that her father would NEVER go along with this kind of thing and that THEY would be very sorry if she mentioned it to me.

Smart girl.

I cannot begin to tell you how many red flags start waving for me when I see this. Fathers can love their daughters and hope that they have healthy relationships and that once they get married it is a union which stands the test of time.

But THIS is simply too much of an intrusion into a young woman's sex life, and that is not a place for a father to have such a prurient interest.

By the way there IS a work around to circumvent this kind of an abstinence only approach to youthful relationships. I am sure many of you already know it, but if not these two comedians will gladly explain it for you.

Bristol Palin would have been the Belle of the Purity Ball if her mother had discovered the enormous profits of spouting religion sooner.

The Jesus-loving conservative teen pregnancy statistics prove that these little Daddy and Me charades achieved zip.

But where are the 'Mommy and Me' purity dances for Jesus-loving conservative teenage boys? Do they not exist because everyone knows that all women are sluts?

  3. Among the group I ran around with boys and girls, there was only one other girl besides my self that was a virgin.

To this day (53 yrs) I deeply regret having made that decision to so call save myself for my husband. I had saved myself for a man that didn't appreciate it. It was more like cave man than making love.

I came close on Prom we were in the motel room in bed and I asked did he have a condom. He told me he didn't so we laid together and talked for hours. But we never had sex.

I think parents and educators should not push their ideas on the children. Kids think about sex all the time and it is showing up more frequently in the news like the 11 yr old boy raping the 6 yr old little girl.

You might not want them to have sex but at least give them enough knowledge that if they do decide to, they will know about birth control measure and other safety measures.

Here in Kansas they call it a Father Daughter TEA Dance. This really puts a new spin around the ballroom for something that looked really creepy because they would all go out for dinner first. Imagine sitting in a restaurant and seeing a group of old guys bringing in their dressed up young girls and thinking WTF. Fundie Mormons, No. Just plain ol' fundies.

So many rules about efing......it's Biology, Stupid.

Calling this a TEA Dance merely lends support to those of us who call them
      Teavangelicals.

It appears there is no demarcation line for them between their fundy beliefs and their politics, since they are even carrying the name (no coincidence, IMO) into a 'social' function like this. Such events may not have only religious significance but also political significance. After all, what is the difference between the mentality behind these events ("you WILL publicly declare your virginity, and that you will maintain it") and the political mentality that says, "not only for my daughter, but for ALL women, there will be no abortions, no birth control pills, no miscarriages, and there WILL be public shaming, criminal prosecution, and forced vaginal probes for any woman who thinks differently"???????

O/T These two are delusional if they think they will EVER be president of this country. And to pander to THIS guy???

Senators and presidential hopefuls Rand Paul and Ted Cruz will head to Iowa this week as featured speakers at a closed-door event for conservative pastors that has been organized by David Lane, an anti-gay, anti-choice, anti-Mormon, Christian-nation absolutist who has declared war, not only on secularism and separation of church and state, but also on establishment Republicans who don’t embrace his vision of an America in which the Bible serves as “the principle textbook” for public education and a “Christian culture” has been “re-established.” He decries Supreme Court rulings on prayer and Bible reading in public schools, and says, “It’s easily defended that America was founded by Christians, as a Christian nation.”

I bet Jindahl is there too. He's already giving public funds to schools teaching exclusively from the Bible. My God, these people are insane.

They had us do something similar all the time in the Mormon religion. Never anything psuedo-prom-ish with your dad (which honestly makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up), but they made you sign a petition or a "contract" saying that you'd abstain from sex and anything that made you feel sexy until marriage (mormon president himself said that if holding hands makes you excited, it's best to not even do that). And also that you would only marry a return missionary.
Since I was 13 or so before the first one of these was pushed on me, I already understood I'd somehow get in trouble if i didn't sign, so I bought myself some peace and quiet by just agreeing to it. At the time, I was fully committed to never getting married and wasn't particularly interested in sex anyway, so I just didn't care.
I did end up having sex before marriage AND it was to someone who was not Mormon. I'm still waiting for that lack of blessings they claimed would come if I didn't do what Gawd wanted me to do (though I'm not holding my breath lol).
