Lightning strikes worker at Creationist Museum. Is anybody else struck by the shocking irony?

Courtesy of WLWT:

A staff member was injured Wednesday while clearing guests from a zip line at the Creation Museum. Staffers had cleared the lines before 1:20 p.m. as storms moved into Boone County.

Museum officials said a male staffer touched an object that had been energized by lightning and was injured.

He was taken to an area hospital as a precaution, but his injuries were not considered to be serious.

The zip line attraction opened this spring to help the religion-themed museum attract a wider audience.

So..many...puns.

I am a non-superstitious thinker so I am unable to equate this with God punishing these people for misinterpreting his book. However I would like to point out that if these idiots did not continue to reject science they would have realized that hanging off of a metal structure in a lightning storm might not be the smartest idea.

And by the way, what kind of "museum" has to install a zip line in order to increase attendance?

One that is losing money hand over fist, that's what kind.

Gotta love that line: Belief in creationism correlates to less education, and less education correlates to lower income. Ergo the bible beaters can't afford it.

It is funny thst they had to put a zip line over hte Garden of Eden to get people to come to the faux museum.
People are struck by lightening every day unfortunately, there was a girl struck at a NJ zoo this spring or early summer. Not unusual, but funny when it happens to people who don't like sciency stuff.
And why DID god let that happen to a faithful worker? Was he too busy helping HS coaches all over the country finalizing their final line ups or something ??

To be struck by lightning and survive it intact is a miracle any way you look at it.

It's not a miracle, it's luck and science.

    3. No 6:02 it's not.

Perhaps you have not heard of Roy Sullivan. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roy_Sullivan)

And this person was not struck, he simply touched something that was.

Roy Sullivan was friends with my great grandparents and I met him a few times when I was in grade school. Once he brought his famous ranger hat with the burn hole in the top to one of our family picnics and wowed us kids with his tales. My great grandparents met him while they were hosting the CCC boys that were building the rock walls that line the Skyline Drive during the Great Depression. I remember my grandmother telling us that he'd killed himself because he was depressed. I always wondered if the repeated strikes could have caused brain damage that led to depression. Thanks for posting that Gryphen, it just brought back a big flood of childhood memories :-)

If you study the bible, you will learn that Moses used zip lines to escape from Egypt.

This idiot might have done better had he waited 20 years for the GOP to in doctrinate all our kids with their voucher education, and their Bible/only schools. Evidently there are enough sane people right now who just can't grasp that Noah brought dinosaurs aboard the Ark with him and his family and all the cute creatures. Such a shame. And I bet the good Rev. is getting all kinds of tax breaks too, and STILL losing money. And in a fundie state too. Maybe there IS hope for America yet!

About time for the legitimate amusement parks to start screaming. If this is a not for profit, then he can't have stuff unrelated to the educational mission that competes with the for profits.

He probably can have things unrelated to the main 'mission' or focus of the museum. Under the First Amendment, the government would not be able to dictate the purpose of his museum; it could only determine that it was an educational or non-profit institution. Most museums are non-profit, whether or not they are religious museums (presumably even including this one). If the guy is losing money, even if it was a for-profit museum, he'd still be losing money and would not be making enough money to pay taxes (because there would be no net income).

The funny thing about the museum losing money is that I'd be willing to be at least HALF of their revenue was from non-believers going to see the nutjob Jesus-riding-a-dinosaur museum.

If Kentucky legalized pot and put a doritos stand in front of that place, it would probably make as much money as Disney World.

I refuse to even go there! How in the world this got public funds for a church view of creation, is crazy. The churches should have used their wealth, or it be a no go.

So let me see. If this place gets funded by taxes. Mine and yours. Then why don't we liberals start screaming about this stuff? You know, because the squeaky wheel gets the oil and right now the freakin' screechers are taking tax money to fund this kind of crap. If they can scream about "my tax dollars" funding abortions etc. why don't liberals give it right back about this waste of federal funds??

I think churches should pay taxes. They aren't helping the poor. The government does a better job of that.

If you ask me, it looks like someone pissed off Zeus, but then it's easy to annoy him. He didn't like what I wrote about him and so knocked out the power to hospital I was in whilst getting a necessary lumpectomy. (I'm kind of half-kidding here, folks!!!! she says while checking the sky for clouds)
