This video has been everywhere on the internet the last couple of days, and I have to admit I have watched it more than a few times.
I pride myself on being a born skeptic who is hard to fool, but I would be lying if I did not say that if I was in the coffee shop and saw this happen I would not, at least temporarily, be convinced that it was real.
By the way I am huge Stephen King fan and loved "Carrie," both the book and movie, and will probably watch the new one as well.
Still seeing that in person would certainly have raised my heart rate more than any silly movie.
I have to confess that when the Carrie book first came out in 1974 I was still in my exploratory phase of what was, or was not, possible.
ReplyDeleteIn those days I was not convinced the telekinesis was not a possibility, so I spent some time attempting to move things with just my mind.
I was, of course, unsuccessful, and damn near gave myself a nose bleed trying. However for me it made the book, and later the movie, just that much more fascinating.
I kind of doubt that this was good for business.
ReplyDeleteHa! I've already got friends, not just in NYC, who would definitely-and I mean, right now-who'd love to go, with or without their friends.
Deletefunny stunt.
ReplyDeleteot- a request. c4p nutjob stlouisix seems to be getting a little nastier than usual in his posts lately towards the pres. et al... would love to see the 'fake name posters' give st loius a field day today... an full on bombardment of fake st louisers would, well make my day. i think the guy is close to the edge and he might just lose it.
Going out for coffee just isn't what it used to be.
ReplyDeleteHAHAHAHHA....too damn funny!! That is alot of time & money to freak out some poor people just getting coffee. They did a really good job and yeah...I would have stood there with my mouth open. Love NYC.
ReplyDeleteIn this day and age, I would have been very concerned that someone that was 'carrying' would have shot that poor actress!
ReplyDeleteI actually thought the same thing!
DeleteHowever I did think it was hilarious.
Wow.
DeleteYou are so right. Maybe not in NYC but if they tried it other places....you are right.
She should switch to decaf.
ReplyDeleteShe's lucky someone with a CCW didn't shoot her.
ReplyDeleteBut this was NYC, they can handle anything.
Not a good idea to try this in the bible belt.
O/ t but skank new fb post trolling for anyone to buy her book.
ReplyDeleteAnd another example of how her cult are just angry hating racists:
When he's charming, he's the slick black guy who tried to befriend you back in school. But he really wasn't after your friendship, he was out to "con" you somehow. Signing something, loaning him 20 bucks that you'd never see again, whatever. The smile is as natural as any BS story that he tells to make you (The mark) let your guard down so he can fleece you. Of course, the other face is the snarling, nasty man who reveals himself when he doesn't get his way. And he'll go out of his way to "punish" you using whatever tools are available. Slander, threats of race-riots, accusations of being an accomplice to murder. Whatever it takes.
Compliments of palin45potus remarks about my president!
What an azz
most, if not all, the c4p posters are full on racist a-holes that cannot handle the fact that there is a well educated man of color in the WH.
DeleteThey're describing their golden calf to a T. Rude awakening headed their way.
DeleteThat is super cool!
ReplyDeleteI think I'd know it was fake because the new Carrie is getting so much advertising. But...if this happened another time,I'd initially believe it.
That was good! I think the coffe spill and guys response was fakey though also too.
Being the titanium core skeptic that I am, I would instantly suspect Hollywood style special effects.
ReplyDeleteI know that sounds cold and cynical, but even if I see something happen, I want the scientific method
applied to prove it in a neutral environment.
Umm I'm a huge believer in not messing with classics...in this case I am very dissapointed as the lead actress is too cheerleaderish looking, dont even get me started on whom they casted to play the mother.
ReplyDeleteWait, someone that was there is going to claim heart problems after the fact, and sue for millions. Or some type of mental trauma; scared, can't sleep, can't eat. I guarantee it.
ReplyDeleteCall me jaded but sorry to say I probably would not have freaked. I would have assumed it was staged for a movie or reality show.
ReplyDeleteThen again, I live in So.Cal. We get a lot of movie and TV stuff down here. I probably would have quietly waited for it all to stop, then applauded.
The video kind of ruined the effect. Would have been much more effective if they didn't identify the actors, fake wall, pulleys and rope etc. But it would have freaked me out, especially without my first cup!
ReplyDeleteWhen I worked in Center City, M Night Shamalan, Operah, and a few other movie makers shot scenes. The amazing things they do with green screens, make up, and pyrotechnics make what you see in person vs the finished product pale in comparison.
I try to read the book before seeing the movie, and few of Steven Kings disappoint.
After that elevator prank they pulled in Brazil, this Carrie video, and god knows how many others, people's reactions just confuse the hell outta me. Not a single patron decided to be brave against the perceived odds and help anyone else; they all ran like rabbits. While i could argue self-preservation, usually that includes getting out of the way before you try filming it on your phone. In the elevator prank these people are cowering in the corner covering their faces like THAT'S gonna save them from a friggin ghost or something?
