Sean Hannity trots out examples of "average Americans" who are suffering due to Obamacare. Salon reporter smells a rat, follows up, and lo and behold finds rats aplenty.

Courtesy of Salon:

I happened to turn on the Hannity show on Fox News last Friday evening. “Average Americans are feeling the pain of Obamacare and the healthcare overhaul train wreck,” Hannity announced, “and six of them are here tonight to tell us their stories.” Three married couples were neatly arranged in his studio, the wives seated and the men standing behind them, like game show contestants.

As Hannity called on each of them, the guests recounted their “Obamacare” horror stories: canceled policies, premium hikes, restrictions on the freedom to see a doctor of their choice, financial burdens upon their small businesses and so on.

“These are the stories that the media refuses to cover,” Hannity interjected.

But none of it smelled right to me. Nothing these folks were saying jibed with the basic facts of the Affordable Care Act as I understand them. I understand them fairly well; I have worked as a senior adviser to a governor and helped him deal with the new federal rules.

I decided to hit the pavement. I tracked down Hannity’s guests, one by one, and did my own telephone interviews with them.

Salon reporter Eric Strern soon learns that the first "average American" suffering under the oak of Obamacare oppression, Paul Cox of Leicester, N.C., owns a business with only four employees, That is well below the 50 employees which would soon force it to provide company health insurance.

When asked to expalin just how the Affordable Care Act was affecting his business, he said he would get back to Stern.

He never did. (Oops!)

The second "average American" suffering greatly due to Obamacare, Allison Denijs, had never even tried to get on the exchange to see if they might offer her a better deal, claiming that she heard it was too hard to get on.

So Stern gets on the exchange on her behalf and finds that she would see a 60 percent reduction from what she is paying now. That does not exactly seem like something that would cause suffering to me.

The third example of "average Americans" who had their rights stripped away by the tyrannical President Obama, was Robbie and Tina Robison from Franklin, Tenn, who claimed their insurance agent had told them their rates would go up 50 to 75 percent.

They also had not visited the exchanges, and when Stern served as their surrogate, he found that instead of going up the coverage they qualified for was actually 63 percent less than they had been paying BEFORE the passage of the Affordable Care Act.

So here's the question. Does the Sean Hannity show simply have the laziest most inept producers and researchers on cable news? OR did Hannity simply want these stories to be true so much that he simply took them at their word and refused to do any actually journalism?

I think you know what I think.

    Rand Paul:"Misinformation works."

    http://www.nationaljournal.com/magazine/the-truthiness-of-rand-paul-20131017

"LOUISVILLE, Ky.—Rand Paul was talking with University of Louisville medical students when one of them tossed him a softball. "The majority of med students here today have a comprehensive exam tomorrow. I'm just wondering if you have any last-minute advice."

"Actually, I do," said the ophthalmologist-turned-senator, who stays sharp (and keeps his license) by doing pro bono eye surgeries during congressional breaks. "I never, ever cheated. I don't condone cheating. But I would sometimes spread misinformation. This is a great tactic. Misinformation can be very important.""

He went on to describe studying for a pathology test with friends in the library. "We spread the rumor that we knew what was on the test and it was definitely going to be all about the liver," he said. "We tried to trick all of our competing students into over-studying for the liver" and not studying much else.

"So, that's my advice," he concluded. "Misinformation works."

So...I know what I think about Rand Paul and Ted Cruz and Sarah Palin and Sean Hannity and Fucked Nooze.

I am almost sure Rand Paul could not get licensed by the State to be an eye surgeon. I believe he had to open his own licensing bureau.
The details are fuzzy but I would bet I have it correct.

He is also sort of "truthy" when claiming to be a Board Certified ophthalmologist. That is, he is NOT certified by his professions leading group. No! He is certified by another group -- one he founded. How is that for "truthiness"? This is old news for many, having been around since June of 2010, but I just read about it recently and thought it another good example of his use of misinformation.

So... Rand's advice for an upcoming exam is to try and screw over everybody else who is taking the exam? Either he's just a complete psychopath who likes to screw people over for no reason at all, or his reasoning is that "maybe you'll do poorl;y on the test, but not as poorly as all those suckers you conned".

Yeah, let's make THAT amoral douchetard our president!

Kids, this is your brain on Ayn Rand.

I think the facts are these:
anybody who's gone through a residency in a specialty (internal medicine, neurosurgery, obstetrics, endocronology, pediatrics, oncology, etc., etc.) can hang out a shingle and practice medicine. But the really good ones take special tests every ten years to prove their proficiency. That's why you'd only want to go to a "board certified" specialist. A group of a physician's peers have tested him and found him up-to-date and trustworthy.
Rand Paul was "board certified" by the American Board of Opthalmology for the first ten years that he practiced eye surgery. But, hey, presto! When it was time for him to be re-tested like his peers, he made up a phony reason why the American Board wasn't legit, and he made up his very own National
Board -- and made up his very own questions! The headquarters of his Board is a post office box in his home town.

So, if he dares to put a toe outside Kentucky to run for higher office, these facts will precede him wherever he goes. The voters can decide on their own if they want a liar and a cheat in the White House.

I agree but I do not let the people he interviewed off the hook. Either they were complicit or ignorant. Neither one is an excuse. Geez, you mean the insurance agent lied to you so you would keep him as your agent? Shocking. The other person never tried to get on because she thought it was too hard? Who is she? Sarah Palin? "It's too hard to keep being governor, so I quit". And speaking of Sarah, didn't she use the same excuse as the business owner, "I'll get back to you" and never did.

Hannity and his pal Sarah are both shit-stirring shills for their puppet masters. If they have to lie outright or twist the truth into something unrecognizable, then that's what they will do. They're in the public to separate the low-info people from their money for themselves or the powerful that they serve. They have no ethics or scruples.

What do Fox News execs conclude about Palin's presence?
    1) Has zero impact on viewer numbers
    2) Hurts any show she's on
    3) Hurts FN overall
    4) Brings in viewers or the numbers would be even worse (the spin advanced by Palin's agent)
    5) They don't care about the numbers as long as the Palinistas stop bothering them with obscenities, threats, and demands to put Palin on the air

  6. Ignorant, low achieving, and most often racist folks believe these lies. In their mind, their station in life is a 'libtards' fault. They trust "Fair and Balanced" Fox, Levin, Savage, Beck, Coulter, Ingraham, AM RWNJ Hate Radio, Limbaugh, Drudge, Red State, Brietbart, Palin, and on and on and on... because they are hearing what they want to hear. It does not bode well for this country when millions of voting folks of this ilk are manipulated this way. They think they are 'Patriots'. They are really the dumbest kids in the class. But they can vote. They are the misguided non-thinkers who drag us all down.

People who are flattered told they are "Patriots" are being manipulated for believing lies.

I can believe that some insurance agents and insurance companies will take advantage of people increasing rates much higher than years past. Despite premiums climbing in years pre ACA insurance companies can blame Obamacare.

I am puzzled that people speak as if it is all the government's fault if their doctor(s) are no longer in their network. MD's chose which insurances they will accept also. Hell, it never occurred to me to blame a boogey man when an employer changed insurance companies or the doctor we used no longer participated.

My first thought when Hannity started these ACA horror stories of average Americans suddenly seeing their premiums skyrocket by thousands of dollars was "what idiots". One guy claimed that as a small business owner his family coverage jumped to $14k more this year for him, his wife and their two minor children. OK...I am a small business owner with a workforce of 10. We pay 100% of all benefits offered to our employees. We offer medical, dental, life and disability. Our workforce is older with an average age of 52 which means our premiums are pricey and have gone up steadily. I have one employee, age 61 with a multitude of chronic medical conditions and her premium alone is just under $1000 a month. The policies all have low deductibles and co-pays so would be considered "Cadillac" policies. We use an insurance broker who, each year, shops for the best options available. This guy is stupid and a poor business owner if his premiums are that high for his healthy family. Under the ACA my business will be getting a nice tax break for continuing to provide my employees with quality coverage. It's a big chunk of my bottom line but one I feel obligated to cover as an employer. I am thrilled that I can offer the same coverage for fewer dollars! I doubt Hannity would care to interview me.

    Sheesh

These lying and misinformation campaigns are just so short-sighted. How do these lying shills think anyone is ever going to trust them again when they are called out?

The reason rates are dropping as of the first of the year is because there is a law in ACA aimed at limiting insurance companies profit margin. They can no longer charge what they want without consequences for their actions, under ObamaCare insurance companies are limited to a 20% profit.
They have to PROVE they spend 80% of premiums they collect on medical care and/or healthcare education(such as smoking secession seminars, weight loss seminars etc) for their clients.

Thank you President Obama for again protecting the average USA citizen!

Just went over to the Sea o Pee (hazmat suit off now). Fun night. The inmates are busy screaming that Jay carney said the AFA website was designed fro 50K people per day, and at THAT rate it would take16 years to sign everybody up. OK, what's wrong with that picture? Hint: only those who don't have insurance through an employer or Medicaid will need to sign up. That was @ 50Million. (which cuts the time down to 3 years) In addition, there are state run exchanges with their own websites. Cutting that down to about 1/2. Then, many signups will be families - not individuals, which further cuts the time. Silly, stoopid, peeing, baggers.

    So Sean Hannity lies? LOL

This Beurocratic nightmare which is Obamacare has been forced down our throats. It's unconstitutional and onerously orwellian overreaching, Government forcing people to buy a product, then face death panels...... Sarah lies too?

It saves money, prevents illnesses, saves lives, increases productivity and decreases the time it takes for life saving medicine to reach the market while allowing prices to fall because of the bargaining edge having so many people in the pool.
    Seriously, what's not to like?
