Ted "Rafael" Cruz hires lawyer to file papers renouncing his Canadian citizenship. Well I think we all know what THAT means.

Courtesy of Dallas News:

The junior senator from Texas is still a Canadian. But he’s working on it, eh?

Born in Alberta 43 years ago last Sunday, Sen. Ted Cruz was unaware of his dual nationality until The Dallas Morning News explored the issue in August.

Since then, he said in a recent interview, “I have retained counsel that is preparing the paperwork to renounce the citizenship.”

He expects to complete the process in 2014. That time frame jibes with predictions from Canadian legal experts.

There is literally NO other reason for this dipshit to do this then to prepare the way for his run at the Presidency.

And to that I say, "More power to you Senator Cruz, I hope you win the Republican nomination."

I mean can you for one minute imagine how entertaining it would be to watch Hillary Clinton squash this little cockroach under her shoe?

It would be like watching a political snuff film.

However the best part might be watching the Right Wing dance around the giant pile of hypocrisy they will have to overcome in order to accept Cruz as their candidate after attacking Obama for years concerning their manufactured conspiracy about HIS birth certificate.

Here is the things about renouncing Canadian citizenship. It is not just filing papers. Rafael will first have to PROVE he is a Canadian citizen before he can GO TO COURT AND SWEAR HE IS, then he will have to appear in court renouncing his Canadian citizenship.
Then the next question will have to be raised, will Rafael renounce his Cuban citzenship? From what I have heard, he IS also a citizen of CUBA!!!!! It doesn't get much better than this :)

He looks constipated in that photo...appears to be grimacing! He is the last person we need in the White House!

But, just to be humorous - can you imagine if he were to pick Palin to run w/him as VP (which she'd never do as she'd want the top spot and I'm sure they'd never make it through the primary process!).

The two of them would put on quite the comedic show!

I like the idea of either Hillary, Elizabeth or John Kerry!

7:04 Kerry is hardly an 'empty suit'. He currently serves as our Secretary of State in President Obama's Administration which is a tough, tough job that both he and Hillary Clinton have held. And, he served in the U.S. Congress for years before that!

I think he would be a viable candidate for POTUS.

Don't hold your breath about Hillary running... :/
Elizabeth Warren is already out. Hillary has not said either way. No idea who else might be viable and WILLING to run for the Dems.
The RETHUGS are gearing up BIG time to get the Senate next year. They have a better machine with GOTV, and they also have the shenanigans of the re districting going for them. The rethug governors seem to be pretty secure all over the country. :(

@8:04, you don't know what you're talking about. Senate seats aren't districted -- unless states are going around changing their borders without us knowing it...

Also, on what are you basing this idea that Hilary won't run? She has a book coming out next year. Politicians only really do that when they need money -- not the case for her -- or they're running for office. Also bill and Chelsea have indicated that she IS...and they're not losers like the Palins who try to get people riled up to send her money to her PAC. Because she's not a money grubbing loser.

Also, too... The GOP do NOT have a better GOTV system. If that were the case, this site would be about VICE PRESIDENT Palin. Obama has the most organized organization in recent history...that's what happens when you're a COMMUNITY ORGANIZER. And he's going to unleash his people on the election to make sure he gets a good congress for his last two years.

That said, he has no chance in hell of being the President of the United States. None. zip. zilch.

there is more to having the right to citizenship . My dau read it to me, there is something with how long it has to do with how long our parent is out of the country before your birth.. There are questions. Both his parents were married to others When they got their divorces is in question. , She had custody in the summers different for the seventies. I found on Ancestry.com where both his parents were on the voters roll of 1974. They supposedly moved back that year to US- why vote there? Our newspaper had an article on the older Cruiz , saying he was working so hard for Ragan's election team. Has been in our politics ever since. He din't become a us citizen until 2005. So he wasn't voting all those years in the U.S. while working on elections, but voted in Canada?????? There are lots of questions, people need to get to the bottom of . They play victims, and try and quiet anyone who asks about these things. Somebody is lying big time.

Since Mr. Raphael Cruz DEFINITELY received preferential treatment to be accepted at Princeton and Harvard, as well as major financial aid from them, all the squabbling about Barack Obama's attending Columbia and Harvard therefore must end.
Cruz has taken advantage of his mixed-up heritage -- now the GOP will have to stop all their snarkiness.

Especially since our President was born in AMERICA!

    Questions about the mom:
    1) While the birth certificate shows her birthplace as the USA, what CITIZENSHIP did she have at Teddy's birth? Has anything been said/found pertaining to her citizenship over the years?

    2) Does the mother's citizenship status at his birth make a difference re: Teddy's possible status?

Reason I'm asking is that one parent has to be a USA citizen at the time of birth for the "natural" aspect of citizenship to be in effect. Mom is the key, as Papa never secured USA citizenship until well after Teddy's birth.

According to Rafael, the younger, he was nearly raised by his single mom, until his parents got back together when they returned to the US. He claims they were divorced a few years ago.....but there is no record of a marriage.

I found this in my immigration law book (immigration law changes all the time and I don't know what year carnival cruz was born)

      For obtaining citizenship by birth:

For persons born outside the US after 1952:

If one parent is US citizen and one is alien, the citizen parent must have been physically present in the US for a period of 5 years, two of which occur after attaining the age of 14 in order for the child to be an US citizen. ( this does not apply to children of military personnel).

So I guess the question is how long was his mother living in Canada prior to his birth, did she ever renounce her citizenship?

I bet they are scrambling to re-write history, seems he and his father have already given a number of different stories about leaving Cuba. Interesting fact that there is no record of marriage.

I am not an immigration attorney, worked as business immigration paralegal.

What part of "his mother was a US citizen" do you not understand?

As much as it makes me sick, it is a fact that cannot be denied: The accepted ruling is that because his mother is a US citizen HE IS A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN.

I was adopted by an American couple and, based on the adoption agreement, I retained my Canadian citizenship while growing up. I became a naturalized US citizen when I was 22, 40 years ago. I honestly believed at that time that I had given up my Canadian citizenship by doing so. It wasn't until this Ted Cruz kerfuffle that I went back and did some research, and learned that I, too, have retained my Canadian citizenship all this time! And I'm damned glad to have learned that fact. I bet there are many others like me.

Leland - see my post at 7:25am. There are questions re: the mom's citizenship at the time of his birth that might play into this.

Simply showing a USA birth for a parent may not be enough, because it is not impossible for someone born here to revoke his/her citizenship before a child's birth, while the form would still show USA as a birthplace.

Same: both had one non-U.S. citizen parent.
    Differences:
President Obama was born in the U.S.
Disgusting Cruz was born in Canada
President Obama never had to renounce Kenyan citizenship as the country didn't exist at the time of his birth.
Cruz currently holds Canadian citizenship - as an adult. He is now going through a naturalization process. which in itself disqualifies him.
President Obama had a very limited relationship with his foreign father.Despicable Cruz's daddy is very close to him and tells audiences his kid is "an anointed king" in his grifting mythology.

The 10 biggest GOP rebranding fails of 2013

From cutting food stamps to "calves the size of cantaloupes" -- the 10 worst moments of the GOP's 2013 rebranding

In March of this year, just a few months after the party’s drubbing in the 2012 elections, the Republican National Committee released its much-anticipated “autopsy” report. The goal of the report was to explain the GOP’s 2012 failure and to recommend changes the party could make to improve its chances in the future. On both counts, the authors concluded, the answer was inclusiveness — or the lack thereof. If the GOP were to stay competitive on the national level, it would be necessary to change the way many voters (young and Latino ones, especially) saw the party. And in order to do that, the Republican Party would, as the authors put it, have to “stop talking to itself.” It was time to rebrand.

Nine months later, however, it’s hard to conclude that the GOP’s rebranding effort has been anything other than an abysmal failure. On issues ranging from race to religion to reproductive rights to sex, the Republican Party has proven itself to be the chief political home of bigots, reactionaries, Neanderthals and cranks. Far from being the beginning of a new, better, more inclusive Republican Party, 2013 has proven to be the year of the Republican rebranding fail. And while there was a nearly endless number of rebranding fails to choose from, these 10 are the ones that, in retrospect, really stood out.

Kieran Romney: Mitt Romney’s New Black Grandson’s Name Means ‘Black’

And while the toddler is undeniably adorable, the name is an odd choice for a dark-skinned child adopted into the family of a man who has a complicated relationship with race. It did not go without notice that the name Kieran is the anglicized version of the Gaelic name Ciarán -- which means "little dark one" or "black."

If you didn't already realize it, guys, this is what our corporate 'liberal' media has been up to...'liberal', my ass.

With the final Sunday in the books for 2013, we can now take a look at who appeared the most on the Sunday talk shows in 2013. When discussing the Sunday shows, we are focusing on five programs: Meet the Press, This Week, State of the Union, Fox News Sunday and Face the Nation.

...Surprisingly, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) did not top this list. He ‘only’ appeared 24 times on a Sunday show in 2013, placing second. (McCain made 21 appearances in 2012.) The most frequent guest on Sunday was actually Rep. Mike Rogers (R-MI), who made 27 appearances. Rogers is the Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, so he was a go-to guest pretty much every week as the Republicans pushed the Benghazi ‘scandal’ to the hilt. For some reason, Newt Gingrich, who holds no office and hasn’t since the late ’90s, was scheduled the third most times, making a total of 19 appearances.

Only three Democrats appeared 10 or more times on the Sunday shows: Sen. Dick Durbin, Sen. Chuck Schumer and Rep. Joe Manchin.

Other frequent Republican guests were Sen Lindsay Graham (natch), Sen. Rand Paul (of course) and Rep. Peter King (who is always on the hunt for media attention.) Other Republicans that made 10 or more appearances were the aforementioned Cruz and Ayotte, as well as Sen. Bob Corker and Rep. Michael McCaul.

Cruz is not a national candidate, and not a rational candidate. So he will run, which is good for the Democrats! Let's see the face of the shutdown. There's no way he can deny it; the GOP leaders are on record saying he was in charge of it.

Does it? I don't think it settles anything, he has yet to denounce his Cuban citizenship.

I think as much hell about his legal right to run for POTUS should be done EXACTLY as the Republican party has continually done to President Obama since he was first elected POTUS.

At least, President Obama was a worthy candidate. Cruz is not!

  47. 1. He didn't know he had dual citizenship until it came out in the media? Really?

    2. He expects to be the Republican nominee for President in 2016? Really?

This imbecile better look to his state re-election chances. The Republicans are over the 'baggers and Cruz is the poster boy for the shut-down that did a lot of damage to the brand. Cruz will be lucky if he's re-elected to his current seat. He sure won't have a shot at president as a FORMER junior Senator.

Delusions are just the flip side of lies.

BWAHAHAHAHA 1:50 PM is Stupid. Rafael Eduardo Cruz can't even win the Republican Nomination, and he would never trust Sarah Palin to handle any office. Sarah Palin is incompetent, and someone would have to substitute in to do her job. Sarah Palin is DONE. Are you Paid to Troll?

Cruz will be lucky to hold onto his Senate Seat. So is Sarah Palin going to be a Page for Cruz in the Senate? She is too Stupid to research any issues for him.

"So is Sarah Palin going to be a Page for Cruz in the Senate? She is too Stupid to research any issues for him." True, but she could pack lunches for him as she did when the government was shut-down.

In case of emergencies, Sarah's Tata's are certified floating devices for two. That's about the only reason Cruze would consider her. If he has a baby, she could double as a rattle with that huge noggen and dried up brain pellets.

Cruz is a lawyer...he should have known he had duel citizenship and he should not have to hire another lawyer to do his 'renouncing' dirty work. The (.pdf) renouncing application papers from the Canadian website I referred to earlier shows it's relatively simple. Even I could do it! Really..

About the picture of Cruz above, based on the look on his face I suspect he's standing next to Marcus Bachmann and Marcie just groped him. Aw, ain't life sweet, you two....

@2:46 PM...as much I would love the GOP to run this fraud, I think the GOP is getting sick and tired of losing the White House. I think the GOP is going with Chris Christie.

Is he out of his mind? That Birth Certificate is an obvious fraud! Nice try Teddy boy!

There's something about this man's looks that's offensive. He looks kind of smarmy, like a cross between Liberace, Marcus Bachmann and The Purse Carrier all in one.

Produce the real Birth Certificate, then we'll talk, Eh?

His mother is listed as Eleanor Elizabeth Wilson on the birth certificate.
Yet, Cruz always refers to his mother as Eleanor Darragh.
    Odd..
Some speculate that she was still married to her first husband when Ted was born .
No record in Texas of a marriage from 1966 and later for Rafael Cruz and Eleanor Darragh / Wilson.

It's interesting, as others have noted , that the self described genius and " debating champion !! "
did not know he was also a Canadian citizen until recently.
His father so loved the US that he didn't even bother to become a citizen until 2005.
Besides his face, there are a lot of very strange things about this guy.
