Bill Maher's final New Rule from last night's show. "Be more cynical."

“And finally, a resolution I have been asking America to make for a long time,” Bill Maher said. “Be more cynical. Be less easily fooled. Case in point, all the people that are fans of these guys, heroes to all the rural heartland traditional values gun nuts out there. Except here is what we recently found out these guys really look like before they got their TV show, preppy a$$holes at the golf club wearing Tommy Bahama. That’s right. It is all an act, fat cats pretending to be just folks. And you fell for it. Take a hint Tea Partiers. This is what the Republican Party is always doing to you”.

I loved this!

I think that is probably a message that I try to send out as often as possible as well. Stop buying into the bullshit, and start thinking independently.

Of course if people did that there would be no Tea Party, no religion, and no Sarah Palin.

So really, no downside.

P.S. By the way, for those who watched the show last night, what is your guess as to what pharmaceuticals Mary Matalin was high on?

I mean I have seen people tripping on TV before, but Matalin was clearly orbiting the sun she was so blitzed out of her mind.

At one point I thought she was going to crawl under the desk and start blowing Steve Schmidt, who apparently she has been crushing on, or her husband, or Bill Maher, or any unsuspecting stage hand who happened to get too close.

It was freaky.

I totally agree with that postmortem....not only was she whacked on something, but how about that horrible plastic surgery and that wig?????? OMG she used to be sort of attractive, but I never liked anything she said. The Daily Kos caught that stupid comment about "Where do you guys think all this money comes from? The government does not create money--" Steve Schmidt and Michael Steele are the only GOP spokesman I can tolerate.....even they call out the really bad shit. I could be mistaken but I don't remember Stewart or Colbert doing a segment on the "real" family like Bill did....well over due. Yeah we miss Bill...he is coming back to Las Vegas in March and I already have my ticket.

    1. So glad someone else noticed the awful surgery results. It has been a few years since I last saw her and was shocked to see what she had done to herself. She used to look like herself; now she looks like a myriad of others with the same features. Yuck!

Sharon, I practically screamed when I heard that stupid comment ("Where do you guys think all this money comes from?) when they were discussing raising the minimum wage. I wish they hadn't let that slide. Although, at this point Maher looked like he was just going to try to manage her the best he could.

I didn't appreciate the joke Maher made about the man shot in the theatre for texting before the movie started. He didn't even mention that the man died, he just made a sick joke about warnings that should be made before viewing a movie. Maher has never really done it for me and he never will. His sarcasm, which is all he has, is old and faded, just like him.

He is a comedian and does push it sometimes, but I love him. He's well read, has a huge following and highly rated show, has had it for years and beats up on the Republicans which they sorely need!!!

Some shows I like better than others. The dynamics of the guests can make things not go so well, but he does share the show w/Republicans!!!

He doesn't only have sarcasm. He's very smart, over the time at times, and makes mistakes (ex., his whole thing about not immunizing). I can take him in small doses, but I appreciate that he's a lingering voice speaking out against conservatives.

That was so uncomfortable to watch. I can't believe that crazy woman's husband didn't stop that charade. Bill Maher mentioned that "she had a fall" so I understand if she was drugged up but why go on TV like that? James Carville is to smart for that, I predict a divorce in the near future.

there's something about Mary... Yeah she was a loopy mess but in her defense, after Bill introduced her, he mentioned that she had taken a fall and had some medical issues (and said something like she was brave to show up after all that). She REALLY should have stayed home!

Or maybe she turned up high as a kite and that's the story they decided to tell. It looks like she's had a plastic surgery accident rather than a fall.

You sound about as high as a kite too! The subject at hand is Mary Matalin and Bill Maher's show.

Sounds like you've had a little of what Mary Matalin was on.

We all know it's hard for some people to accept that a Black man could be as successful as President Obama. He MUST have a mysterious past because NO Black man could EVER have achieved as much without SOME mystery and intrigue. Right?

I thought Bill treated Mary carefully last night. He did mention as he introduced her that she'd taken a fall and something about her head...maybe she was on pain pills?

Bill did mention Sarah Palin last night as to her getting pregnant - was a quick statement. Lots of negative stuff said about the Republican party and current goings on - Chris Christie, etc.

Love his show and glad he's back!!!

I don't have coffee with the conservative loudasses on FOX because I want news and prospective not Roger Ailes party lines and scare tactics to get the folks to vote against themselves. Don't question their bullshit of biblical proportions? Don't question anything. What does the FOX say?

I do watch Ailes's programing just to see what he is feeding you with your coffee. You have outsourced your minds to a fat, paranoid, conservative, control freak.

Speaking of cynical, remember when Peggy Noonan called Sarah Palin's VP candidacy "cynical," "gimmicky," and "political bullshit?" When Saint Ronny Raygun's former speechwriter and incessant jock sniffer calls you those things, you know it's bad.

I love Bill Maher's show and have watched it for years. Finally some one on board that counters the Republicans (even when he has them on his show and he often does)

He is funny, sarcastic, knowledgeable, well read and says things many of us would love to (publically!).

He's very popular - sells out his shows when he travels to the cities throughout the nation and is worth seeing!

You HAVE to rev up at least a little bit of cynicism nowadays: there are thousands of people, fueled by big money, hoping to put one over on you.

I think THIS comment, seen on Facebook, shows the absolute PINNACLE of how far the easily misled can be taken:

"We all know that a finder's fee or something like that gets paid to Obama and Michelle, each and every time some poor bastard sucks in, and buys a policy from Obamacare."

Anyone "Fox free" can detect all manner of brainwashing in that one, quick statement.

We've suddenly seen a lot of "I'm rubber and you're glue--what you say bounces off me and sticks on you" talking points from right wingnuts.

The warning to always filter what you are told, though the "who stands to gain financially from this, if we believe it?" is strong, in the fantasy that the President and First Lady are cashing in on healthcare reform.

But lets face it: you gotta be one special kind of stupid to come to that conclusion, not to mention being an ignorant fool to think there is an insurance policy available called "Obamacare."

I'm watching Mary Matalin on This Week with George Snuffaluffagus right now and she seems a bit more sober than she was on Friday night. She still keeps pushing her hair out of her eyes and is mumbling a bit as she finds a way to spew her negative opinions about the President.

He's brilliant! So glad to see him back.

Yeah, everytime I see Mary Matalin she looks like a mantle clock that's so over wound, the springs are sticking out of everywhere. I wonder what combination of pharmaceuticals and alcohol she thinks is the fountain of youth, because it ain't working. That's another one of those marriages that make you go "hmmmm, how'd that pot find it's lid?"
