Does Greta Van Susteren realize she works for Fox News? Update!

Who are these people?
So yesterday Greta posts this on Gretawire:

We are a big nation with different viewpoints. We won’t always agree…but a strong debate is helpful when we disagree. Sometimes if you are smart in your debate, you persuade someone who otherwise had disagreed with you.

And then there are the creeps who take cheap shots because they are too ignorant and small to engage in an important discussion. The best they can do is make themselves look really bad. No one should pay any attention to them – they are not persuasive, they are noise, and in some instances boorish and obnoxious. I suspect this guy feels that he makes himself relevant or even important if he says or tweets like this. I just roll my eyes and wonder what is going on in his head!

I don’t care how much you disagree or agree with Texas’ Wendy Davis, you have to agree that this guy, Erick Erickson, is a real jerk and is really lousy at being a spokesperson for his views:

She's not wrong.

In fact we tore into those making remarks like Erickson's on this blog our own darn selves.

The difference of course is that my audience is made up of highly intelligent compassionate critcial thinkers, and Greta's audience is made up of...well it's made up of these people:

Greta: A very disappointing and totally inappropriate response to Erickson. He has called out Davis for what she is and you instead want to tiptoe around that fact. Extraordinary and precipitous fall from your usual professional coverage of the news. Highly disappointing. Micro-Potemkin Davis continues to lie and camoflage herself with her victim story and you attack Erickson? Shame on you; in this case you have thrown in your lot with the Progressive herd-thinkers of the rest of the media. More of this kind of reporting and I turn off your program.

Greta! Abortion Barbie = Wendy Davis...she has been called that since her trick in TX, her claim to fame trying to murder 3rd trimester Texas babies. Why do you slam EE for slamming that murder princess? She DESERVES worse! You are defending her because she's a woman? That's just as bad as a Christian Black man voting for a communist obama because he's Black...and very stupid!

Greta, maybe you should take a timeout with L Ron Hubbard in his spaceship circling the Earth.

Greta, I think you and Megan Kelly on women's ' issues lately are really off the mark. First Huckabee on Sunday , now this. Your a big girl you have been in the world long enough to have thick skin as a women. I will no longer watch Kelly as I did t care for some of her comments 1 about Hannity and he is to blame for conservatives having a bad name, the other where you and she took your male colleagues to task over the bread winners comment. She is out in my book, I personally feel you and she have blown things up . And here we go again. Looks to me like we have 2 chatty cats. Showing their own insecurity. It is what it is greta. She is an abortion Barbie, so maybe this should be a wake up call to women instead of an insult, men say what they say and end it. Many women keep beating a dead horse to win their point. I see their point, and they are right. Personally greta , if I were Megan's boss or yours, I would have given both of you fare warning, any snide remarks about your co workers in the press or on Tv I would terminate your contact. If you can't play with the big dogs , stay on the porch!

Greta, you "stepped in it" on this one, and even demonstrated an apparent propensity for self-aggrandizement... you know, the ol', "I'm the 'Grand Poo-besse' who's so big, important and 'busy with other stuff', that I don't but vaguely even recall hearing this peon's name (E. Erickson) before. Oh, well.... off with his head."

Erickson is highly regarded, and most assuredly his opinions are read by a goodly number of our better "real" conservative leaders. You might have a fine and enlightening colleague in this fellow if you could step down from the self-perceived (only) throne from which you believe to rule.

You can almost feel the love can't you?

I have to imagine that when Greta wrote that post she expected that the majority of visitors to her blog would be on her side, instead about 95% of them were going for her jugular.

What she, and the rest of us, need to realize is that the Right Wing is made up of people just like Erik Erickson, and attempting to reason with them, or convince them to be more reasonable, is a complete waste of time.

Update: Erickson responds to Greta in a typically vile manner:

Erickson responded by posting “A Very Sincere Thank You” to Van Susteren Monday night.

“Wendy Davis believes it is perfectly acceptable to crack open a child’s skull, inject her cranium with saline, vacuum out her brains, then tear her limb from limb unstitching her from her mother’s womb even though a minute, an hour, a day, a week, or a month later she could survive outside the womb,” he insisted, engaging in a common anti-choice trope of equating any fertilized egg — even a ten-day-old blastocyst — to a fully viable fetus.

“Wendy Davis has staked her career on the right to chop a child to bits, no matter how viable the child is,” he wrote, referring to Davis’ 13-hour filibuster against a draconian Texas anti-choice law that would make abortion illegal de facto by closing the bulk of the state’s clinics.

“Wendy Davis is a one issue wonder heralded by the press because she is a high priestess of the secular religion’s sacred sacrament — slaughtering children on the altar of Moloch. That Greta Van Susteren is offended by me, thinks me creepy and a jerk, and thinks I should not be listened to is of no harm or consequence to me,” he wrote.

Erickson's description of abortion in this country is just about as dishonest as his characterization of Wendy Davis. A woman, by the way, that is so out of reach for a knuckle dragger like Erickson that her success must emasculate him to his very core.

The attacks against Davis indicate to me that she is absolutely terrifying these idiots. I think I will send her a check.

I have never been a follower of Greta, so won't read this portion of IM's blog...all I noticed was the photo and her head looking waaay to big for the rest of her body!

Sorry Gryphen, Can't wait, I'm making my donation to Wendy On-line.

Wow, talk about keeping your head in the sand. You don't have to be a 'follower to read about someone. You read to be educated and informed. If you are here reading about Bristol or Sarah and are scared to read about Greta, then you really have a twisted sense of a 'follower'. The fact that you had to 'announce' it, makes it even more pathetic.

I'm not big on ReGreta either, but that doesn't mean that I can't acknowledge her if she does something that steps out of the Fox bubble, which is exactly what Gryphen is doing.

Greta took a stand and put her words out there. She stood up for a woman who the right wing is demonizing in the most horrific way. I DO give her credit for that. That took some courage to stand up to the sickening attacks that are being vollied.

She doesn't get credit until she actually acts like a journalist and asks Sarah Palin questions that matter. No more coddling. No more ass-kissing.

To 1:06: you are right to be glad that Greta stood up for women and against chauvinist pigs like EE, but Greta has allowed Palin to say much worse about our President without batting an eye, so I figure this tirade against EE is Greta's seeking some limelight of her own, and not a moral stand. She is not credible, even if I agree with her stand on this subject.

Ugh, since when is a husband called a sugar day? And since when are marital funds just his money?

Erickson and others like him are stuck in a time warp when women were considered only as valuable as the children they produced and the care they gave to their husbands and homes.

The 'little women' shouldn't be allowed to handle money or property because their delicate little brains can't understand how things really work. The best use of their talents is in the kitchen or in the bedroom, whenever the Man Of The House chooses to avail himself of her services.

Years ago, when I voted in elections, I often believed that, although I really wanted my Democratic candidate to win, I could reluctantly live with the GOP alternative if necessary.

However, that list of potential presidential candidates scares the crap out of me!

Seems to me that the GOP, especially its male membership, is really worried about women like Wendy Davis and Hillary Clinton. They simply cannot say enough bad things about them. How pathetic! Hey, GOP, why not come up with some positive proposals that might make life better for the vast majority of people or why not work with the Democrats in Congress to achieve the goals that most of us want for this country. Wasting your time trashing strong women is just plain stupid.

That abandoned ship out in the Atlantic with those cannibal rats sounds like Fox News these days.

The comments on Greta Wire (her Eric Erickson criticism post) are quite amusing. There are some telling her they won't listen to her anymore on Fox. Others jump in and defend her. Really, why did she tread those waters? Sounds like she's abandoning that ship too. Way too late though.

The daughters of Wendy Davis have their own say in this war of words against their mom:

Isn't funny how so many on the right cried about the "unfair" treatment of Sarah Palin, but are the first to attack this women's parenting skills, family bond, and her marriage.
She was married 18 years, that doesn't sound like a gold-digger to me

Another update is needed. Greta followed up her criticism of E.E. by attacking Wendy Davis directly lest her viewers be confused.

"Fox News host Greta Van Susteren suggested that "Stand With Wendy" -- a campaign slogan affiliated with state senator Wendy Davis' (D-TX) gubernatorial campaign in Texas -- was "code" language being used to ridicule her disabled opponent, Greg Abbott (R-TX) [who is confined to a wheelchair]. Van Susteren all but ignored the origins of the slogan, which was popularized after Davis' now-famous filibuster in the Texas legislature weeks before her opponent entered the race."
    http://mediamatters.org/blog/2014/01/28/foxs-ominous-stand-with-wendy-theory-disproved/197781

GVS has also directly attacked Davis plenty of other times.

Exactly. Greta is still sucking at the teat of Fox News and conservatives. The only reason I'm glad for her comments about this fool is the attack she's currently experiencing by the lunatics on her blog. Maybe she'll actually begin to understand exactly how droolingly crazy they really are.

The Harris County Democrats in Houston have a response for GVS' allegation that "Stand With Wendy" is a coded attack on Abbot. See

    One more thing:

In Texas, the office of Lieutenant Governor is exceedingly powerful. Here's what "Juanita Jean" has to say at http://www.juanitajean.com/2014/01/28/creepy-as-hell/:

"I’ve made no bones out of the fact that Leticia Van De Putte is my favorite candidate running this year. So, march your butt over to her website and contribute even $5 today. I’m not saying that Wendy is not wonderful and grand. She is. But, this is the race we have to win and Leticia is the woman to do it. The Lt. Governor in Texas is the one with all the power... Leticia was the woman who set off the people’s filibuster that night. She is my hero."

'Leticia Van De Putte Slams Male Colleagues During Abortion Filibuster"
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZSANd0PZmk

Senator Van De Putte left the funeral of her dad to return to the senate floor that same day and vote against the GOP. However, she had questions to ask and was repeatedly ignored by the speaker of the house and thus said what she did. In all her grief, she was magnificent!

If we can get both Wendy Davis and Leticia Van De Putte elected here, it will turn Texas blue. The next president will get the state's many electoral college votes and be a democrat. That might mean that we'd get Hillary in the White House, if she chooses to run.

These two Texas women mean the world to our nation, more than most people realize.

Claire McCaskill To Rand Paul: Don't You Dare Play The Lewinsky Card

Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) is incensed that Rand Paul dredged up a scandal from the 1990s.

McCaskill ripped the Kentucky senator on Tuesday for saying that Bill Clinton's affair with Monica Lewinsky undermines Democratic claims of the GOP's "war on women" and that, fair or unfair, the scandal could be a factor in Hillary Clinton's anticipated presidential campaign.

"I think I can speak for most women to say that I found what he said infuriating. I think most women understand they should not be held accountable for the behavior of their husbands," McCaskill told MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell. "You know, frankly, it was a long time ago. Our country did very well under the leadership of Bill Clinton."

Paul accused former President Clinton on Sunday of engaging in "predatory behavior" with Lewinsky and, pointing to the successful female members of his family, argued that there is no such thing as a "war on women."

McCaskill swatted down Paul's bit of mansplaining.

"I think Rand Paul is grasping, trying to show that he can be tough and win the presidential nomination," she said.

"It was a political posturing and, frankly, what Rand Paul doesn't get is that women want birth control. What Rand Paul doesn't get is that women don't want to be marginalized in the workplace, that we are not yet at the point we need to be in terms of our country and around the world."

Rand Paul: Bill Clinton's Affair Still Terrible, But Doesn't 'Apply' To Hillary

Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) still thinks former President Bill Clinton's '90s-era affair with a White House intern was deplorable, even if he concedes the scandal “doesn’t really apply” to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Paul accused Bill Clinton of "predatory behavior" on Sunday's "Meet the Press," and said the scandal could factor into a potential Hillary Clinton presidential bid even if it wasn't her fault.

In a Tuesday interview with Politico, the Kentucky Republican emphasized that he didn't dredge Bill Clinton's past up himself. Rather, he had been asked about his wife's critical remark about the former president in Vogue magazine.

“It’s not as if I’m bringing this up 20 years later. I was asked a direct question,” he said. “However, if I’m asked a direct question, I’ll usually answer it. And I think that one of the things that have moved forward, one of the things that was rotten about the old patriarchal system we did have, was that bosses took advantage of young women in the workplace."

“And I think Democrats tried to make Bill Clinton out [as], ‘Oh, just a guy who has a lot of affairs,'" he added. "But several of these were in the workplace.”

Paul also told Politico that Bill Clinton's past "doesn't really apply" to his wife, whose name is floated daily as a potential 2016 Democratic nominee for president.

Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) blasted Paul on Tuesday for suggesting the Monica Lewinsky scandal could affect a hypothetical Hillary Clinton presidential campaign.

"I think I can speak for most women to say that I found what he said infuriating. I think most women understand they should not be held accountable for the behavior of their husbands," the Missouri Democrat told MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell. "You know, frankly it was a long time ago. our country did very well under the leadership of Bill Clinton."

"I think Rand Paul is grasping, trying to show that he can be tough and win the presidential nomination," she added.

First of all Greta is a woman, she's also a Scientologist. She's a female, non-christian who has NO children and is a self made woman. I can't even believe that she gained even a tiny foothold in Fox News territory as she simply doesn't fit their demographic, nor their expectations of women. She's always been an odd duck on that channel and her relationship with the Palins also does not seem to fit her personality, even if her husband was Sarah's lawyer and financial advisor. She's always seemed like a "trojan horse" to me, just waiting to take down the network that she works for.

Greta has a choice to make, I can't speak for her, but I have a feeling she'll stay crazy glued to the chair at FOX News. I remember her from her pre facial deformity days on CNN and she was a halfway decent reporter. She speaks out about Eric Ericson, and deservedly so, yet she's perfectly content drawing her nourishment (payola) from the same network that nourishes him. If she were truly a woman of her word, she'd quit.
Greta's been on George Stephanopoplous's show quite a lot lately. She usually wears a casually constructed black man's suit and tie. For some reason, the lights and makeup make her face look even more hideous. When someone else on the panel makes a true statement or good argument defending Hillary against Benghazi Fever or President Obama for something good he's done, she makes these odd statements and tries to change the subject when her tactic doesn't work. She sits there with a smirk on her face and when asked for a retort, she kind of guffaws and either doubles back or shuts up. The last one I caught was when she interjected herself between Cokie Roberts and Donna Brazile.
Then "conveniently" lost her train of thought.

She will not reply to Ericson's post.
