"Doomsday Prepper," and convicted pedophile, gets arrested after appearance on National Geographic channel, because you are really not supposed to have weapons if you are an ex-con.

Courtesy of Raw Story:

Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Washington state man who was shown firing two rifles on the “Doomsday Prepper” reality show.

In the November episode of the National Geographic Channel program, Tyler Smith – a convicted felon who’s barred from owning guns — describes his plans to commit armed robbery and shots firearms on his property in Buckley.

“His stated plan was not to defend himself but to use weapons he illegally possessed, to rob his neighbors at gunpoint,” said Pierce County Sheriff Paul Pastor in a statement. “Did he really think that this wouldn’t attract our attention?”

The 26-year-old Smith was arrested Wednesday and charged with two counts of second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.

He was previously convicted of theft and a gross misdemeanor for communicating with a minor for immoral purposes.

Ever hear of a background check National Geographic?

And you know it has always been my suspicion that these Doomsday Prepper assholes are less concerned with keeping themselves safe, and more concerned with having the firepower to take from others whatever they want once the government and law enforcement structure crumbles around them.

Essentially they are itching to bully and harass their neighbors once there is no way that they can be  held accountable. They are not afraid of the end of civilization, they are looking forward to it.

Fortunately for us that is as unlikely to happen as for this guy to receive an invitation in the mail to join Mensa.

    Speaking of low-life scumbags:

...Two senior members of Gov. Chris Christie’s administration warned a New Jersey mayor earlier this year that her town would be starved of hurricane relief money unless she approved a lucrative redevelopment plan favored by the governor, according to the mayor and emails and personal notes she shared with msnbc.

The mayor, Dawn Zimmer, hasn’t approved the project, but she did request $127 million in hurricane relief for her city of Hoboken – 80% of which was underwater after Sandy hit in October 2012. What she got was $142,000 to defray the cost of a single back-up generator plus an additional $200,000 in recovery grants.

UP WITH STEVE KORNACKI, 1/18/14, 9:11 AM ET
Mayor: Christie camp held Sandy money

In an exclusive interview, Zimmer broke her silence and named Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno and Richard Constable, Christie’s community affairs commissioner, as the two officials who delivered messages on behalf of a governor she had long supported.
“The bottom line is, it’s not fair for the governor to hold Sandy funds hostage for the City of Hoboken because he wants me to give back to one private developer,” she said Saturday on UP w/ Steve Kornacki. “… I know it’s very complicated for the public to really understand all of this, but I have a legal obligation to follow the law, to bring balanced development to Hoboken.”

Constable and Christie – through spokespersons – deny Zimmer’s claims.

“Mayor Zimmer has been effusive in her public praise of the Governor’s Office and the assistance we’ve provided in terms of economic development and Sandy aid,” Christie spokesman Michael Drewniak wrote in a statement. “What or who is driving her only now to say such outlandishly false things is anyone’s guess.”

But Zimmer’s statements and documentation suggest that Christie’s administration – hailed for what seemed like a heroic response to Hurricane Sandy – in fact refused to help some of the neediest.

“I’d be more than willing to testify under oath and – and answer any questions and provide any documents, take a lie detector test,” Zimmer said, referring to the Christie administration’s denials. “And, you know, my question back to them is, ‘Would all of you? Would all of you be willing do that same thing, to testify under oath, to take a lie detector test?’”

      Trenton, We Have a Problem

Hoboken Mayor: Christie Team Shook Us Down for Sandy Relief

On MSNBC’s “Up with Steve Kornacki” this morning, Hoboken, N.J. mayor Dawn Zimmer offered an extraordinary account of her dealings with the administration of Governor Chris Christie concerning federal Hurricane Sandy relief aid. She described an effort by top state officials – the lieutenant governor and a cabinet member – to coerce Hoboken’s city government into fast-tracking approval of a proposed redevelopment project by withholding Sandy aid from the government and residents of her city. That project, she says she was told, was “very important to the governor.” And if she worked to get it approved, “the money would start flowing to you.”

It just so happens that the proposed project in question is situated on three blocks of land owned by the Rockefeller Group, a client of the law firm of Wolff & Samson. That firm was founded by Christie confidante David Samson, a former state attorney general who Christie tapped to head his transition team in 2009. In 2011 the governor appointed Samson to become the chairman of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, where he remains today.

This is a riveting narrative, and I encourage you to watch Steve’s introduction at the top of the show and his interview with Mayor Zimmer.

Rachel Maddow catches Chris Christie’s staff cheering on appointee who lied to lawmakers

MSNBC host Rachel Maddow showed correspondence on Friday suggesting that several members of New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s (R) staff and one member of his re-election team reacted supportively toward a Christie appointee’s testimony before lawmakers that they knew misrepresented the state Port Authority’s handling of the September 2013 closures on the George Washington Bridge.

Maddow played audio from the agency’s former deputy executive director, Bill Baroni, telling members of the state legislature in November that the Port Authority was monitoring the effects of the lane closures and that they did not impact emergency medical services in the area, even though documents show Baroni had been notified at the time that this was not the case.

Shortly after testifying, Baroni was told via text message by another Port Authority appointee, David Wildstein, that deputy chief of staff Bridget Anne Kelly — who ordered Wildstein to orchestrate the closures — and another person, possibly Christie campaign finance chief Nicole Davidman Drewniak, “were VERY happy” with his performance.

hristie had three unique assets going for him: Mainstream media adoration (at least compared to the likes of Mitt Romney); a readiness to brawl with political opponents (unlike John McCain); and the perception of not being like a typical politician (unlike both Romney and McCain).

In the wake of “Bridgegate,” however, all three of Christie’s strengths crumbled and, potentially, so did his viability as a serious 2016 contender. The sooner Christie and the Republican Party recognize this grim reality, the better off they will both be in the long run.

Of course many could argue it’s still too early to stick a fork in Christie and declare him done, and that he has time to restore his credibility. However, even if Christie rides the media roller coaster back towards the apex of popularity, this ordeal revealed not just how little value it is being a Republican liked by journalists (such flirtations always prove to be like a summer camp crush never meant to last), but also that the idea of Christie as some bipartisan role-model was a media myth buoyed by a simple picture of Christie hugging Obama after Hurricane Sandy.

With Christie now basically defanged for fear of having future actions compared to the bridge “bullying” and now dismissed as just any politician engaging in typical score-settling behavior, one has to ask is this really the best the Republican Party has to offer in 2016?

Chris Christie’s Crisis Plunges Republican Party Deeper Into The Wilderness

The establishment freaks out as another favorite son falls from grace. “There are definitely people jumping ship.”

In the immediate aftermath of their emphatic defeat in 2012, the monied mega-donors and professional operatives who run the GOP took solace in what then seemed like a dazzling, diverse roster of talented politicians and outsize personalities eminently equipped to lead the party out of the wilderness.

But after a brutal year of setbacks, scandals, and political floundering capped this month by a controversy that threatens to sink New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s political career, the Republican establishment is warily scanning its bruised and bloodied field of potential 2016 standard-bearers — and many of the party poobahs are on the brink of panic.

In interviews with more than a dozen party officials, fundraisers, and strategists in New York and Washington over the past 10 days, Republicans described a palpable sense of anxiety gripping the GOP establishment in the wake of Christie’s meltdown, and an emerging consensus that the once promising cast of candidates they were counting on to save the GOP from the tea party — and the nation from Hillary Clinton — is looking less formidable by the week.

New York Federal Judge isn’t Afraid of the Mama Grizzley

Sarah Palin may control the Courts and Police in Alaska, but her reach evidently does not extend to New York or New Jersey. The Federal Court in New York has ruled on Sarah Palin’s Motion to change venue (place) in the copyright suit filed by North Jersey Media Group. This is the copyright suit filed as a result of Palin’s improper use of the 9-11 photo to market herself as a patriot. Remember when she used this photo to generate revenue for her PAC?

This is where American spectators need to hold these reality show pushers for accountability. Quit wrapping and aiding freaks into a consumable product. I'm not just talking about Sarah Palin, but people like Phil Robertson. It's like the Fox News effect, giving platforms to wingnuts give them a voice to shape and direct unacceptable debate into society.
