Even though we are going to be inundated with advertising today, I thought that this car safety ad from New Zealand was well worth sharing.

Yep, hits you right in the feels.

OMG! That shook me to the core! So much to think about from both perspectives. That could have been me and my kids or even me as the single driver. Meaning, I've been both of those guys at one point or another. Sold! I'm slowing down forever.

Many thanks for posting this.........the other side of the coin is that speed wastes gasoline......if everyone slowed down just a little, gas consumption would decrease and with it....the price.

There's not much interest in your important reminder, Gryphen. The people ignoring you are the same people who think that "sorry" makes up for something.

I'm sending this to my kids. They are terrific drivers for their age, and I'm proud of them. But you can never get enough reminders these days of crazy drivers. Thanks.

If it saves ONE life, it's worth it, especially kids who think they're invincible and will live forever.

Gryphon, this is a little off topic. But, I'm trying to get the word out, and I hope you'll support the cause. Even if you don't feel comfortable posting it on your blog, I feel it's fairly important. Accessibility for books for the blind is extremely limited in America, as they are very pricey, and that often limits the ability for Libraries to carry any sort of selection for the community. As visually impaired are often unable to find work, buying books of their own is also often out of their reach.

This could help at least partially solve that issue for this segment of the population:

    From a Friend:

"So many of you may or may not know this but for a couple years I worked as a reader for a blind man, I now work in a library where we have a few blind and visually impaired patrons.
Braille books are a bit expensive (especially in the United States). I recently contact the Royal Blind Society and through them the Scottish Braille Press, because compared to the standard US price of $65.95, their edition costs $8.07 USD. However due to current copyright laws they're unable to ship to the United States, and this is the response I got from them:

"I have carried out some research and I regret that “Copyright law currently stops blind people's charities from sharing their libraries of accessible format books across national borders”. As a result we are unable to ship to the United States.

I am sorry that we are unable to help on this occasion. However, the “Marrakesh Treaty to Facilitate Access to Published Works for Persons Who Are Blind, Visually Impaired, or Otherwise Print Disabled” will hopefully, soon remove the barriers that currently exist. I have given a link below that explains a little bit more on the Treaty as it may be of interest to you."

Please read up on the Marrakesh Treaty and contact your Senator, Representative and maybe even President Barack Obama about ratifying this treaty."
