Health insurance offered through Obamacare must cover same-sex married couples the same as they would opposite-sex married couples starting in 2015, the Obama administration announced Friday.
"If an insurance company offers coverage to opposite-sex spouses, it cannot choose to deny that coverage to same-sex spouses," Matt Heintz, director for provider and LGBT outreach at the Department of Health and Human Services, wrote in a blog post.
"In other words, insurance companies will not be permitted to discriminate against married same-sex couples when offering coverage. This will further enhance access to health care for all Americans, including those with same-sex spouses."
The new requirement applies to all legally married same-sex couples, regardless of where they live, Heintz wrote.
Okay you just know this is going to drive the Right Wing out of their ever loving minds.

ReplyDeleteMy wonderful lesbian daughter in Portland - each and every day working to provide a good home for the three children she is co-parenting with her partner. These are children who were taken from two sisters of her partner. One little one they have had since she was only two days old. My daughter has already raised two other children - one is now 21 and the other almost 18. What do gay people have to do to prove their worth??

You are beyond help, as you apparently cannot read or process information that is all around you.
The stock market is flourishing, the deficit disappearing. Hiring is up, jobs less fragile. Why isn't the recovery more obvious? Ask the republicans who refuse to pass the president's jobs bill, who refuse any attempt to put money into the economy, who do everything possible to take money out of the economy, and who fight every single attempt to help the recovery. The republicans are so determined to destroy this President's presidency and legacy that they are willing to shut down the government and the nation, and destroy the full faith and credit of the United States with no regard for the harm it would cause every American citizen, let alone the rest of the world.
Ask them, you silly simpleton. Ask them why all of their efforts focus on women and their lady parts and republicans them.
Better health care? You apparently do not understand or refuse to believe that adult children can stay on their parents' health plan until age 26, that profiteering insurance companies cannot drop you as soon as you become sick, cannot place lifetime or annual caps on coverage, cannot refuse to insure you due to pre-existing conditions, and must spend a minimum of 80% of the premium dollars they take in on medical care. Those are just a few of the provisions. The republicans want to take away those protections and put every American at the mercy of the insurance companies and their death panels once again.
Why do we respect this president so much? Because of what he has accomplished in the face of downright traitorous opposition from people that swore an oath to uphold the constitution and faithfully carry out the duties of their position.
That darned President Obama, demanding all Americans be treated equally and all that stuff.

When reached for comment on this issue, President Obama didn't say "Fuck them. Fuck those conservative bastards right in the brain. And yes - that, too, will be covered under the ACA."
