Hillary Clinton soon to have a new title. Grandmother.

Courtesy of the Washington Post:

Chelsea Clinton announced Thursday that she and her husband are expecting their first child this year — as her parents, the former and possibly future presidents, prepared to become grandparents.

In a surprise announcement, Clinton, 34, said she and husband, Marc Mezvinsky, are “very excited” and “lucky” to welcome a child into their family.

“I just hope that I will be as good a mom to my child and hopefully children as my mom was to me,” said Clinton, as her mother, former secretary of state Hillary Rodham Clinton, looked on proudly. A Clinton spokesman said the baby is due this fall.

Thursday’s joyous announcement came at the conclusion of a forum, moderated by actress and activist America Ferrera at the Lower Eastside Girls Club, promoting young women’s empowerment.

“I certainly feel all the better — whether it’s a boy or girl — that she or he will grow up in a world full of so many strong, young female leaders, so thank you for inspiring future generations, including the one that we’ll be lucky enough to welcome into our family later this year,” Chelsea Clinton said.

As Clinton spoke, her mother beamed from the stage. She said she was “really excited” to be expecting her first grandchild and later tweeted: “My most exciting title yet: Grandmother-To-Be!” Former president Bill Clinton tweeted: “Excited to add a new line to my Twitter bio . . . grandfather-to-be!”

Wow, Chelsea is having a baby after being married for four years, and it was planned.

Well somebody certainly did not read the "Palin Family Planning" brochure.

You know as I was waking up this morning I turned on my TV, and heard a discussion about this on Morning Joe.

Somebody, and I am sorry I was too groggy to see who, mentioned that this might be politically advantageous to Hillary.

He was immediately ridiculed by Nicolle Wallace, but I think he is undoubtedly correct.

That should certainly not be the first take away from hearing this news, but, considering how tied into politics the Clintons are, it is certainly something that is open for discussion.

After all if Sarah Palin was able to use a fake pregnancy of her own, and the real pregnancy of her unwed teenage daughter, to garner support from the anti-abortion folks, Hillary should get mad props from the female demographic for raising an intelligent daughter, who finished college, got married, and THEN started a family in a responsible manner.

Don'tcha think?

P.S. Here is video of Chelsea making the announcement. Check out the smile on Hillary's face.

Sarah Palin can beat that, she is already at 5 grandkids by 50. Track 1(DWTS?) Bristol 4 Willow 1.
None of Sarah's offspring are married, or educated. You show 'em how to do it right, Hilary and Chelsea Clinton.

Yeah, what were the Clinton family thinking? They sent Chelsea to a college-prep school where she graduated with a high GPA, she went off to college, then grad school, then got a job, then got married, and four years later had a planned pregnancy. I'm sure the Palins are shaking their heads in disbelief that it's possible to live life that way.

Conservative Host: Chelsea's Pregnancy Was A Hillary Clinton Campaign Ploy

Hillary Clinton shoe-throwing truthers, meet Hillary Clinton baby-truthers.

Newsmax host Steve Malzberg on Thursday speculated that Chelsea Clinton's pregnancy was no accident, and that Hillary Clinton's grandchild would arrive just in time to serve as a "prop" for a widely expected 2016 presidential run.

"Now pardon the skeptic in me," Malzberg said. "Oh I can see Media Matters, I can see everybody going crazy on me now. Malzberg thinks this was a staged, planned pregnancy?"

"Well, now I'm not saying, when I say staged I have to believe she's pregnant, if she says she's pregnant," he continued. "I don't mean that they're making up she's pregnant. But what great timing! I mean purely accidental, purely an act of nature, purely just left up to God."

"And God answered Hillary Clinton's prayers and she's going to have the prop of being a new grandma while she runs for president," he added. "It just warms the heart, it brings a tear to my eye. It really does."

Now, who would actually use a baby as a prop for a presidential (or vice presidential) run?

They are copying Sarah, for sure. Sarah founded the idea of using babies on political campaigns.

You can bet Hillary will be too jealous to publicly thank Sarah for this brainstorm.

Sarah has already forgiven Hillary for stealing her idea.

Now, who would be so cynical as announce that she was pregnant the minute that John McCain secured the Republican nomination in March, 2008? And expecting a DS child who would prove her Right-to-Life credentials? And where did that baby come from, since Sarah Palin did not look pregnant in the photos of her taken in March and April, 2008? I keep forgetting, when DID Bristol have mono and drop out of school for 5 months?

Oh, yeah, Happy Birthday, Trig. We're the only ones who remember. Well, at least we are noting the day that Trig "popped out" (according to Chuck Heath, who was there). "Popped out" could mean "arrived through the back door of the little hospital" as opposed to "being born" in a small town hospital which does not deliver premature, special needs babies. Where is our good friend, the anonymous Me Again, who seemed to know some of the details about when Trig actually did arrive? Was it some time in February? How long WAS he in the neonatal ward, about 6 weeks? (Sarah planned her "pregnancy" to last 6 weeks).

The Palins should be ashamed of themselves for what they have put out there in the world the past recent years. They are nothing more than comical failures to Alaska and the USA!

I said it before in any earlier thread. There are comparisons to be drawn between the Clintons and Palins. Bill Clinton did not have an enviable childhood in many ways: not born into a "family of means," father died before he was born, raised for a while by grandparents, then by his mother and an alcoholic and abusive step-father. Presumably his childhood did have something to do with his personality flaws, but he rose above his upbringing big time by virtue of shining intellect, drive, and, yes, strength of character. The fact that his mother valued education, having started nursing school soon after Bill was born, undoubtedly had something to do with it. Meanwhile, any number of Palin generations have had similarly unenviable upbringings, and so far not a single one has risen above it -- setting aside Lou Sarah's success as a hateful, ignorant demagogue, I mean. One surely doesn't see a Chelsea Clinton coming out of the gene (cess)pool any time soon.

There is no comparing the Palins to Bill and Hillary Clinton. Hillary's parents pushed her to excel in school, not in basketball but in getting good grades. Bill also knew the value of a good education. To their credit, they kept Chelsea out of the public eye, rather than exploit her and use her as a prop when Bill ran for Governor and President.

    3. Anonymous1:05 PM

The comparison I was drawing is between the unenviability of the backgrounds. WJC rose above his unenviable childhood; it appears Jesus will rise again before any of the Wasilla hillbilly clan rise above their unenviable upbringings.

Though free of monarchy for more than two centuries, Americans this week were strangely fascinated by the news that one of the country’s pre-eminent political families will be producing its next heir. The news has produced baby fever in the nation’s often sensationalist and highly partisan media and sparked a new round of discussion about the role of powerful clans in the nation’s public affairs.

The politics of the world’s second-largest democracy have long been dominated by a handful of influential families. In recent decades, it has often been a brutal contest of wills between two rival clans in particular.

For the past year, however, neither of the country’s most powerful dynasties has had a member serving in the executive mansion or the Cabinet—something that has not happened in 34 years. This week’s news comes at a time when speculation is high that the Clinton dynasty may be angling to take the reins of power once more.

More than two decades ago, the Clintons swept out of the country’s southern heartland—an economically depressed region with a bloody history—to storm the capital. They have dominated the national conversation ever since, as much for family patriarch Bill’s prodigious appetites and often controversial public statements as their fairly staid brand of center-left politics.

After Bill was forced by term limits to surrender power in 2000, his wife, Hillary, entered the national legislature and in 2008 followed in the footsteps of a number of the Western Hemisphere’s first ladies in recent years by running for the presidency herself.

She would have been the first female president of a country that, while highly Westernized in many respects, still has an overwhelmingly male-dominated political culture. In a shocking result, voters rejected the Clintons’ bid to return to the executive mansion and Hillary was forced to settle for a four-year tenure as foreign minister.

The couple’s daughter, Chelsea, grew up in the public eye, and the announcement of her pregnancy this week drew attention from the normally staid broadsheets read by the country’s elite as well the gossip-focused publications more popular with the general public here. The family’s political opponents, meanwhile, griped that the timing of the announcement was not coincidental.

I'm so happy for the whole family, A child is someone to celebrate. Notice the interviewer asked Hillary if she was expecting, and she immediately said "A grandchild, yes".
Something that resembles a stick figure in camouflage would have had a totally different answer, "Yes, but I kept it secret from the family, also too, I did a draft in e mail of his birth announcement weeks before his "arrival" and signed it "Your Creator". Perhaps do do should have worn camo while preggers instead of pillows.

I'm sure the crazies are all over the comments. This was done deliberately, for political reasons.

I'd lose it if my daughter said those words when the time comes, what an honor!
