Sarah Palin gave GOP U.S. Senate candidate Joni Ernst rave reviews during a rally today in Iowa.
"I haven't been this excited about a candidate in quite a while," Palin said. (Probably going to come as news to all the other candidates that she feigned excitement for while standing next to them on stage.)
The country needs politicians who can be counted upon to "buck the establishment" and "do what the people, in this case of Iowa, will be sending her to do for us," (Which apparently is to sabotage the government so it no longer functions.) Palin, a former vice presidential candidate, said during a ShePAC's "Heels On, Gloves Off!" rally in West Des Moines.
"So just so happy that, heck yeah we found a candidate that we know we can have faith in," Palin said. "We can trust her. She has proven herself over and over again. She is the right one."
She told the Iowa audience of about 250 on a Sunday afternoon soaked in thunderstorms that she was impressed with Ernst's "Squeal" ad. Ernst got national buzz for the campaign ad, in which she declares that she "grew up castrating hogs on an Iowa farm" and will "cut through the pork" in Washington.
"It's like, 'Whoa nobody's going to push her around. She's not going to be co-opted," Palin said. (Too late for that, the Koch brothers already own her ass.)
Palin said it was up to the audience to spread word of Ernst's resume. "You will report accurately about this wonderful candidate," she said as the crowd clapped and cheered. "I won't even ad lib what I was going to say about the press because I don't want them to take it out on Joni. OK, I'll try to be nice about what I really think about the lame stream media and how they cover conservative women in politics."
Yeah right, like anything this idiot says anymore is an "ad lib." She is tightly scripted and controlled by those who are paying her way these days.
And apparently those individuals want this lunatic in D.C..

This woman in Iowa will probably do the same thing. But Democrats just need to point to their records and where they stand on issues. To say they aren't involved in a war on women is like saying Clarence Thomas votes against every affirmative action law that benefited him.

Sarah has been endorsing so many candidates lately, I've lost track of who's who. Isn't Joni Ernst the one who, in addition to castrating pigs, serves in the Iowa National Guard? In fact, I think she's the one who missed something like 117 votes in the state legislature, using the excuse that she was away serving in the National Guard.
ReplyDelete"Ernst has been asked to explain the missed votes following a March 5 article by The Gazette found she’d taken excused absences on 71 of 95 votes tallied in the chamber since Feb. 24.
According to the most recent review by The Gazette, Ernst missed 117 of 197 votes, or 59 percent of the votes, in the Iowa Senate this session before the WHO-TV interview posted on April 7. This includes four days where some votes were missed, and nine days when all votes were missed.
This week Ernst has voted in 23 of 24 roll calls.
According to the Iowa National Guard, Ernst was on orders for training or other duty on March 10-14, on a commanders call on March 28, and had weekend drills on January 11-12, February 8-9, and March 1-2.
Only two of those days — March 10-11 — overlapped with days the Iowa Senate held votes, accounting for 12 or about 10 percent of the 117 missed votes. Excluding the days that overlapped with Ernst’s guard duty, she’s missed 105 votes, or 57 percent of the Iowa Senate votes this session, according to the review."

Change a few percentage points in 2008, and this woman would have been Vice President of the United States, with only one elderly heartbeat between her and the summit of earthly power. It’s terrifying to think what could have been. She’s a symptom that something is frighteningly wrong not just within the American conservative movement, but among the GOP leadership who accepted her in 2008, the vice presidential selection system that coughed her up, and the presidentialist system that could have given her all the stakes in one fell swoop.
She’s an excellent reminder that high politics (in any country) will always attract people who are not just ambitious but truly dangerous, and that we should all be vigilant.

When Palin first emerged with McCain’s VP pick, I actually felt she got a really raw deal on the media reception which was really disdainful simply because she was this religious woman they hadn’t really heard of from a small town in Alaska. I kind of hoped she’d turn out to be smart just to vex the bien pensant. However, unfortunately . . . .
At this point she’s functionally equivalent to a guy who comes on and ties funny rubber balloon animals to entertain the kids, who in this case are the dimmer conservatives at these kinds of gatherings.

Three people held signs and, while Palin was received warmly, only about 50 people stayed after to shake her hand on the rope line as Shania Twain’s “She’s Not Just a Pretty Face” blared from the speakers.
Craig Robinson, a former political director for the Iowa GOP, said that it was Palin’s smallest in-state crowd ever. Organizers blamed the heavy rainfall.
