Florida woman hears sermon about Abraham being stopped by an angel before murdering his son. Sadly no angel available when she acts it out and kills two year old girl.

A Florida woman is accused of drowning one child after trying to poison another, in what she described as accordance with a local pastor’s sermon, WPEC-TV reported on Wednesday.

Kimberly Dawn Lucas is currently being held in Palm Beach County Jail in connection with the death of her former partner’s 2-year-old daughter and the attempted killing of the child’s 10-year-old brother at their home in Jupiter on Monday.

Investigators said Lucas attended a sermon by Metropolitan Community Church pastor Lea Brown this past Sunday that covered the Biblical story of Abraham readying himself to sacrifice his son on orders from God, only to be stopped by God at the last minute.

Lucas is accused of trying the same thing — trying to kill the two young children she was helping to raise, but she wrote in a suicide note that God didn’t step in and stop her, at least in the case of the 2-year-old girl. Lucas’ own suicide attempt failed. Police reportedly found Lucas’ message typed on a computer in the home.

“In YOUR WORDS “WHEN YOU ARE LAYING IN BED AT NIGHT REMEMBER YOU F*CKING DID THIS TO YOURSELF!” the note stated. “Lea’s sermon really, really touched me yesterday but God never told me to stop. Hell is what we [go] through on Earth. Enjoyed your life with possiblego [sic] out without us, he manage but give you finally what you what want because apparently over the past 20 years I was not able to. Love you Always Kimberly.

"What harm is there in taking the Bible literally?" they always ask.

Simply put some people are too emotionally fragile, or mentally unstable to be subjected to religion.

What a pity there are no bible stories about God asking stupid people to kill themselves.

They run after it like a foal runs after his mother. People better-versed than me have studied this.

  2. I find crime and psychology fascinating (I’ve known quite a number of people who probably shouldn’t have been loose) even though I’m not trained in either discipline. I’ve realized why I visit IM so much; Gryphen does blogs (extreme religion and Palins) that cover both areas.

This is sick. Here in Vegas we had a mother shoot her son and he is not expected to survive and another where a 15 year old boy shot his older brother to death. Enough. Just enough.

I think a good sign is that the birthrate is rising for the first time since 2007.

AND teen preg has declined since 2007 as well.

Good things. Now if more people would follow Rob Lowe's example, by promoting equal rights AND small govt, things would be amazing

    1. Those of you who call for "small" government never seem to actually say what you would cut to make it smaller. Please, be our guest...tell us.

  5. O/T, but not entirely: there's a new Tumblr site called whenwomenrefuse.tumblr.com, posting news stories about women and girls killed or assaulted by ex-boyfriends, stalkers, or even men angered because a woman's response to him on the street wasn't to his liking.

On the very first page was the story of a woman killed by her ex-boyfriend (a graduate of the same high school as mine) in my hometown, as well as the story of a woman killed by her ex in the town to which my family moved next!?! Neither place is exactly a crime capital... in fact, the latter town hosts the First Family often on vacation.

It makes me sick! A valuable contribution to our discourse, tragically enough.

She's obviously mentally ill, which explains her unquestioning adherence to religious fairy tales.

I have long used the Abraham story as just one example of just how vicious and uncaring and abusive this damned thing they call god really is.

One has to be pretty STUPID to think that is a merciful god and worship it.

Either that or so afraid it's impossible to think.

The Bible and logic don't mesh. This mom who murdered one and attempted to murder another child knew exactly what she was doing, she tempted God because she wanted to see an angel, when God didn't come through, she's blaming God, Abraham, the Bible, the Pastor, anyone but herself. She's sly like a fox and she knows it.

But she'll find a good lawyer, get a cushy plea deal, ask the congregation to forgive her, or plea insanity.

This is appalling beyond words, who's she to say hell is here on earth and that child's time was up? She's judge, jury and executioner.
