Franklin Graham tells a group of conservative preachers that they have to stop being cowardly about demonstrating their homophobia.

Courtesy of Raw Story:

Rev. Franklin Graham told a group of conservative pastors that he loves LGBT people enough to warn them they risked falling into the “the flames of hell.”

“I love them enough to care to warn them that if they want to continue living like this, it’s the flames of hell for you,” Graham said Thursday night at the Watchmen on the Wall National Pastor’s Briefing in Washington, D.C.

“Now, if you don’t like that, don’t get mad at me,” Graham said. “I didn’t write the rule book. Almighty God wrote it, and it’s a sin against Him.”

He said religious leaders were stifled by political correctness.

“We don’t want to be called a homophobic,” he said, “and I tell people, listen, I’m not afraid of homosexuals, I’m really not — matter of fact, I love them.”

Graham, who has repeatedly praised Russian President Vladimir Putin for his anti-gay policies, cautioned the pastors not to compromise in their teaching.

“Listen gentlemen — we live in a world where there is so much compromise,” said Graham. “This city that we’re in, that’s all they do is compromise. We cannot go down that road because you and I are going to have to stand before God one day and give an account to Him, and you don’t want Him to say from His lips, ‘You were a coward.’”

A man who openly praises Vladimir Putin who is invading neighboring countries and murders reporters who dares to question him, and who  condemns men and women for loving in a way that he does not condone.

And yet he claims to love the people who he insists must deny their nature and live a life with love or sexual fulfillment.

Fuck him.

So I guess I'm supposed to love a lying fraudster like Graham and his family who have been fleecing impressionable people for decades, while lining their own pockets and aggrandizing themselves in every way? The Bible should have taught them not to steal or make graven images.

The New Testament tells us, and him, to love one another. Graham hasn't gotten to those passages.

    Or the part about humility.

If a god is going to decide one's fate after death, I'd put any money on Franklin Graham being sent straight to hell.

Luckily, the majority of Americans don't believe in hell, so his audience will always be small, and pathetic.

    1. I’ve mentioned it before, but my husband delivered mail for a while after high school. Graham Ministries (or whatever it was called) was based in Minneapolis. Their mail slot was bigger than any other state, and jammed with letters from old ladies probably containing pension and SS checks.

I read that Franklin never did graduate from divinity school, he was too anxious to get his hands on the $$$. Someone should tell him that his private jet will not be allowed in Heaven, or wherever he ends up. Grifting for life, just like his father before him. He probably thinks Putin will allow him to go to Russia, spreading the gospel. Far cry from the gospel most Christians believe in. $carah must have been picking up tips on how to get the religious following to send HER their $$$.

substitute the word "gay" and make it "obese", and talk about fat people the same way Mr. Graham spoke about gayfolk. Is it okay to confront fat people with their Gluttony? Can we tell them they're going to burn in hell for their greed and sloth? Are we less righteous in our indignation for all that fat people cost us, or for grossing us out? I mean, really. Why do the religious folks get a free right to castigate any of us, just because they say it's God's Law? And don't get me started on the Adulterers!!!

  5. "listen gentlemen" says it all, doesn't it? In Graham's small kingdom, only men count, and white ones at that. And I hate to break it to him, but God didn't write anything. If HE had, those books wouldn't be full of contradictions that Graham ignores. So either Graham can follow the men who wrote what Christ preached, or he can follow the vengeful God from the OT, which is who he prefers. That makes Graham not a Christian. Not that taking millions of dollars from a nonprofit wasn't a dead giveaway there, anyhow. I'm sure Sarah is trying to figure out how to become a figurehead like Graham, and rake in even more money.

Here's just a few tidbits from the wikipedia entry on Franklin Graham:

"Samaritan's Purse reported gross receipts of $414,031,085 during the 2010 federal tax year.[7] According to public records filed with the Internal Revenue Service, Graham was compensated $409,851 as chairman of Samaritan's Purse and received $156,566 from the Billy Graham Evangelical Association as CEO.[7]"

The entire entry is worth a read, although it can only show a small percentage of the hypocrisy of this vile charlatan.

Find out how he was kicked out of his first college for entertaining a female after curfew; discover his firm belief that our President, whom he calls "Mr. Obama" is a Muslim because his father was a Muslim (supposedly) and how the "Muslim seed" is passed through the male parent. Then read his mealy-mouthed "apology" for doubting that President Obama is a Christian.

    A sinful swindler.

"In 2001, The New York Times criticized Samaritan's Purse for having "blurred the line between church and state", in the way it had distributed publicly funded aid to victims of the El Salvador earthquake.[6] Residents from several villages stated they first had to sit through a half hour prayer meeting before receiving assistance.[7] In a statement, USAID said Samaritan's Purse had not violated federal guidelines, but emphasized the need for the organization to "maintain adequate and sufficient separation" between prayer sessions and publicly funded activities.[8]"

    It was written by men.
If an all-powerful 'GOD' wanted to write some rules 'He' could do it on the side of a mountain.

People need to start standing up to the Franklin Grahams and Sarah Palins of this world and call them on their bullshit:
we need to start telling them, "your religion is nonsense and we're sick of you pretending YOU have the answers."

The Church ran roughshod over the 'civilized' world for a thousand years - we call that period The Dark Ages.

It's hard to keep track of all the people who Franklin Graham hates. He was excluded from the National Day of Prayer because of his anti-Islam comments. http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/04/23/graham.islam.controversy/ He has made equally ugly comments about the Jews. He and Sarah Palin operate on the same wave length, saying truly outrageous, ugly comments which stir up their base. Unfortunately, the media repeats the comments because they are sensational. They are after the attention and the donations. I wonder if donations really do go up every time Graham or Palin says something. It might also be a good idea for the media to stop paying so much attention to their comments.

Franklin Graham is preaching hate. Plain and simple. He justifies this by saying he "loves gays" but hates what they do. His messages of hate are one of the reasons I have become an atheist. I want nothing to do with a religion that condones hate toward a fellow human. That he admires Putin and his followers are good with that boggles my mind.

This man is a poser. He is a puppet. He wants power, goes to Washington, and preaches to the elite 'conservative ministers' who also lust for power.

He thinks Jesus will call them 'cowards' at heaven's gate, for not calling out homosexuals??? Jesus did not come to earth to condemn, Franklin, nor should you. He came to save, Franklin, and he understands the impulses of his children.

I cannot understand why this man and his ilk don't condemn the loveless, lying, cheating, politicizing, pre-empting politics over the Lord. I don't understand where these men got so damned selfl-righteous and eager to point fingers at people and condemn and cause others to hate on specific people, and to blame specific people for the lack of 'blessing' they feel they are entitled to.

Graham is not a christian that I recognize. He hijacks god's mercy, patience, love, caring. He denies those who could enter in, by condemning them and making them feel they are unworthy. Does he really love homosexuals? Why is he in Washington, DC in the halls of power, standing on a podium, pointing his finger at them, and asking pastors to condemn them????? Did Jesus do that??????

He's hijacked the message. He's turning the christian community into a police state. If he had real faith, he'd work out his own salvation and see if his own slate was clean. The fact he's selling his message of condemnation to the elite in the political halls of power says it all and he's not fooling a greater portion of christians.

Point #1: The Bible says God made everything. That means he made some people gay. All animal species have gays in them. Hating on the gays is hating on God's creation.

Point #2: If not being gay was so important to God, surely Jesus would have said something about it. There are no words in red saying gays are bad (there are also no words saying women are second class - I had to add that too). There are only words stating that Love is the greatest commandment and to love your neighbor as you do yourself.

Point #3: Franklin Graham doesn't know his ass from his elbow about God (and neither does Sarah Palin).

Point $4: There are words in red warning people about folks like Franklin Graham and Sarah Palin.

Full Disclosure: I have never been baptized and do not attend church.

Gay fathers release powerful memoir about the racist and homophobic reaction to a picture of them doing their daughters' hair

In January, two gay dads received shockingly racist and homophobic comments after posting a picture of them doing their daughters' hair. Now, one of them has written a memoir about the experience.

Kordale Lewis, who lives in Atlanta with his fiance Kaleb and their three children, told the Huffington Post that he decided to speak out about the ordeal in Picture Perfect? in the hopes that it will raise awareness and acceptance of homosexuals.

'While we wanted to stay quiet and focus on our family, we ultimately decided that our experience could help spread the message of equality for all human beings,' he explained.
