Alaska most corrupt state by population. Gee, no kidding.

Courtesy of KTOO:

Alaska was No. 1 for corruption-related convictions of federal, state and local public employees and elected officials, averaged over the state’s population. When averaged over the number of public employees per state, Alaska ranked seventh. Convictions were counted from 1976 to 2008, based on data from the U.S. Department of Justice.

The rankings were just one item the researchers fed into their statistical analyses testing for connections between corruption and state spending.

Four theories were tested:

  1. The more corruption there is, the bigger the budget;
  2. Corruption skews spending toward capital spending, construction and highways;
  3. Corruption skews spending toward salaries, wages and debt financing;
  4. and Corruption skews state spending away from social sectors, such as education, welfare and health.

Their analyses backed all four theories. The researchers also presented a statistical model that suggests if Alaska had merely “average” corruption, the state could save more than $900 million a year.

To be fair between 2006 and 2008 we were convicting politicians right and left. (Well Right anyway.) However just because the FBI is not throwing them in jail at the same pace certainly does not mean that the corruption is any less than it was before.

It just means our politicians have become better at hiding their criminal activities.

Of course in some cases the politicians simply quit their jobs half way through to avoid prosecution, which may skew the number of convictions as well.

The rest in the top five of corrupt states were

2) Mississippi
3) Louisiana
4) North Dakota
5) South Dakota

You know why can't Alaska be number one is something good for a change, instead of number one in things like corruption, rape, and alcoholism?

    Obama Announces Capture Of Suspected Benghazi Attacker

    President Barack Obama announced Tuesday that the U.S. has captured Ahmed Abu Khatallah and charged him with playing a role in the attacks on a U.S. diplomatic outpost in Benghazi that killed four Americans.

    "I recently authorized an operation in Libya to detain an individual charged for his role in these attacks, Ahmed Abu Khatallah," Obama said, praising the "painstaking efforts of our military, law enforcement, and intelligence personnel" and vowing that Khatallah "will now face the full weight of the American justice system."

    Wait! How is it possible that Illinois isn't on that list? Since 1973, 31 aldermen have been convicted of corruption and sent to prison. That's out of a total of about 100 aldermen who served during that period. We currently have a former Congresscritter in federal prison. And when he gets out his wife has to serve a year. Not to mention former idiot Governor Rod Blagojevich. And the governor before him, George Ryan. And two others from the 1970's.

    I smell a rat. I think this voted was rigged and damnit it, rigging votes is what we do.

      Illinois isn't on the list because this is an Obama False Flag operation to distract from Benghazi.

    WOW! Check this out Gryphen! This is HUGE!

    The Senate made history on Tuesday with its vote to confirm Darrin Gayles to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida.

    Gayles, who was confirmed 98-0, is the nation's first openly gay African-American man to be confirmed to the federal bench. His vote came just after the Senate confirmed Staci Yandle to the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois, by a vote of 52-44. She marks some milestones of her own as the first black lesbian federal judge in two decades and the second one in the nation's history. The first, Judge Deborah Batts, was sworn in during June 1994.

    "Never before in the course of the history of our state has there been an Article III federal judge who is openly a member of the LGBT community," Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) said ahead of Yandle's vote. "In short, Staci Yandle's confirmation marks another important milestone in America's journey toward equality of opportunity."

    By a vote of 92-4, the Senate also confirmed Salvador Mendoza to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Washington, making him the first Hispanic federal judge to serve in that region of Washington.

      The Republicans in the U.S. Congress HAD to vote for this person or they knew they'd be crucified - especially if they are up for reelection.

      Voters throughout the nation - when it comes to voting for a U.S. Congress person (new or up for reelection), be sure and check their prior voting records and commentary.

      Just because they voted for this particular person this time doesn't mean they have supported gay rights, etc. in prior votes and commentary!

    Watch the Republicans give President Obama zero credit for this Benghazi capture! They make me sick to my stomach - the pooper scoopers!

    And, was Sarah Palin related to corruption w/in the State of Alaska government - the oil industry specifically? Remember when she gave her 'quit' speech in Wasilla, AK, she was breathing heavy and appeared scared to death? She truly appeared as though someone was after her ass! She rushed Toddy boy back to Wasilla from Dillingham where he was actually working back in those days! Would love knowing all the 'dirt' behind her rushed actions!

    Parnell, her successor and currently up for reelection in the State of Alaska, has always protected her. Wonder what will occur once he is out of office and back w/his former employer Conoco - as a lobbyist for them and/or a direct job within their corporation.

    Will all of his and her evil doings become more public once Democrats are back in power in Alaska?

    The big problem is Alaska is governed by the most popular/boy/girl/bully in the class. There are so few of us it feels like high school. Everyone knows someone who knows someone. It is entirely corrupt and derelict. And our legislators are easily wowed by money and power and as such the money flows into their greedy little palms. Welcome to the beautiful state of Alaska.

    11:01 Don't kid yourself! Sarah Palin has always been corrupt and criminal! Just look at her action as supposed Mayor of Wasilla - she hired someone to actually do her job and left the small town in major debt!

    Then she becomes 'quitter' gov of Alaska! Wally Hickel actually supported her initially and then found out how corrupt she actually was and dropped any connection to her!

    Sarah Palin helped allow the criminal activities in Alaska - the Anchorage Police actually protected her and Todd. The State Troopers tried to show her for what she was too - a criminal!

    Plus, she and Todd had their house built (on the dead lake) w/materials from the hockey rink in the Valley when she was their mayor. Is that not criminal behavior?
