On the first day of Georgia's "guns everywhere law" two men demonstrate exactly why it is such a bad idea.

Courtesy of TPM:

A "misunderstanding" between two armed men in a Georgia convenience store led to an arrest on the very day that the state's new expansive gun rights law went into effect, according to The Valdosta Daily Times.

Valdosta Police Chief Brian Childress summed the incident up for the newspaper.

“Essentially, it involved one customer with a gun on his hip when a second customer entered with a gun on his hip," Childress said.

According to the Daily Times, the first man, Ronald Williams, approached the second man in the store and demanded to see his identification and firearms license. Williams also pulled his gun from his holster, without pointing it at the second man. The second man responded by saying that he was not obligated to show any permits or identification -- then he paid for his purchase, left the store, and called the police.

Police responded to the call around 3 p.m. Tuesday, and Williams was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct for pulling his gun in the store.

Of course yesterday was the first day of Georgia's "guns everywhere" bill, which allows folks to carry their metal penis extenders into restaurants, classrooms, movie theaters, etc. and only restricts them in bars and churches if the establishments post signs forbidding it.

Apparently in Georgia there is a desire to return to a time of six gun justice, when men solved their disputes on the dusty streets in front of the local saloon instead of dialing 911 like some sissy.

"If'n it was good enuff fer Wild Bill Hickock it's good enuff fer me."

Who needs laws and police officers when everybody is packing heat and ready to deal out justice whenever the opportunity arises?

Personally I prefer to see quick draw solutions to disputes on television, and not played out in malls, schools, and churches where small children and innocent bystanders might be killed by stray bullets from these wannabe Wyatt Earp's.

But hey, that's just me.

Ironic that most gun owners are christian.. I guess they don't have much faith in their god to protect them.

They don't need it when they have their guns.

The need for fire arms sure does negate the need for a biblical creator.

  2. Here's a question.
Why would the one man question the right of the other to
have a weapon since EVERYONE can have one.
Was the other man blind? Did he have human heads hanging from his holster? Did he maybe . . . . not look like the other man?
Enquiring minds want to know---and never visit Georgia ever again as long as they have this insane law.

Because dontcha know, each and every one who has to carry their gun everywhere is suspicious and afraid of everyone else who carries a gun. They're constantly on the alert for a chance to prove that they're Rambo. That guy was looking go shoot someone.

Georgia is now Tombstone and more Blazing Saddles. Cleavon Little would cleared em outa the men's restroom. Every one of them pencil-dicked fools packing their gunsies into stores. Pussies.

Ironic reference to Wyatt Earp. His brother Virgil, when he was sheriff of Tombstone, enacted a no guns in town ordinance for the sake of the peace.

That was the whole point of the gun fight. The other guys brought their guns into to town, which was against the law, and the Earp brothers stopped them …. and killed them.

Question: Why did the second man call the police? I thought if you had a gun, you were self-sufficient and "you don't need the police". Isn't that their rationale for carrying?

'demanded to see his identification and firearms license.'

The NRA has a very simple solution to avoiding this situation. All we have to do is eliminate ALL limitations on gun/ammo ownership and carrying.

Just as they succeeded in getting concealed carry in every state, the wont stop until the succeed in their ultimate plan: open carry guns everywhere, no license, no registration, no limits, no restrictions. The only gun-free zones - not ironically - will be in the state legislative and court offices of the lunatics in power who made this abomination possible. Naturally, state legislators need to protect themselves from gun-wielding lunatics in their workplace.

Once 100% of America is literally a free-fire zone, we can all rest easy knowing every fucking douchebag who wants to sashay around with a loaded gun on his hip can do so without answering to anyone.

    Thanks, NRA!!!

Proof that that in the eyes of the Georgia state legislature, the only people worthy of protection from this insane gun culture are drunkards and xtians.

Historians who have studied the records and the statistics figures that the cities of the old west averaged less than two gun deaths a year. Guns were required to be checked with the sheriff/lawman or left outside of town.
I can't find the reference, but I remember that Dodge City, which was notorious for its shootouts, had seven - that's seven- gun deaths in the most deadly year.
Perhaps the men were better endowed - with common sense - in those days.

I suggest they were far too busy scratching out a living and used their guns to kill for food and to protect their livestock.

Around 1880 - around the time of Dodge City infamous history - it had a population of around 1,200. Los Angeles has around 3.88mil people. By what you are saying those stats : 7gun deaths/1200people= 0.00583 or 0.58%. If we equated that to say the city of LA 2013 est of 3,884,307 population.... you would have .00583x3.8mil= 22,658 gun deaths per year. I think it is safe to say that you are wrong.

O/T, I'm writing something and need a fact check regarding the wild ride.

In her various versions of the story, did SP ever claim that when she woke up in labor and called CBJ, that CBJ told her to "put her feet up and relax?" Or was that a comment by one of the bloggers being sarcastic over the insane idea that a doctor would have told her anything other than "get to a hospital NOW?" I know I once read something about putting her feet up. (You know, when she was having contractions, amniotic fluid "leaking" and she waited 8 hours to give a speech, then took two commercial flights before driving an hour to a medical clinic with no NICU, where she was induced.)

Also, I recall that she once changed her story to Anchorage, after saying many times it was Mat-Su. When was that? Was it around the time when bloggers started posting about how Mat-Su could lose its license if it had really induced her under those cirumstances as she claimed? Is a link available?

Thanks for any help you can give! I have all the other info I need for this lil' project, but would like to clarify those two points.

All that I remember is that Sarah Palin felt assured that she could go on with her speech. And I recall that she changed Mat-Su to Anchorage at least on one occasion but I don't recall when it was. There are timelines at Politicalgates and some pieces from IM on the sidebar above that might give more info. Glad someone is still working on the unraveling of the Great Fraud of 2008.

Florida teen waving gun around shoots friend in the back: ‘Don’t worry, it’s on safety’

A Florida teen assured his friends the gun he was playing with had its safety activated moments before he shot another teen in the back.

Officers said the boy, who is 14 or 15 years old, stopped at the front yard of a Miami home to show the handgun to some children gathered there.

“Don’t worry, it’s on safety,” the boy told his friend as he waved the weapon around.

The gun fired and struck 15-year-old Ronniesha Hart, who stood up immediately after she was knocked to the ground by the bullet.

Michigan toddler’s point-blank fatal shooting violated ‘code of the streets,’ neighbor says

Police said a triple shooting that left a Detroit-area toddler dead was in apparent retribution for an April shooting that wounded three people outside a nightclub.

The suspected gunman was among those wounded in the earlier shooting, officers said.

Witnesses said the gunman walked up to two children playing in a yard Tuesday in Inkster, shot a 2-year-old girl at point-blank range and then shot her father and a 12-year-old girl, who was struck multiple times.

Kamiya French, who would have turned 3 next week, was pronounced dead at the scene.
