Alaska Governor Sean Parnell, or Captain Zero as we like to call him, freaks out over unverified news that HHS has sent five undocumented immigrant children to Alaska.

"I'm going to say some things here that hopefully make me sound tough."
This was on Parnell's Facebook page yesterday:

I have seen some alarming reports that the Obama administration is giving illegal aliens one-way tickets to Alaska. We are making contact with the Department of Homeland Security to get to the bottom of this.

The source Sarah Palin's former lapdog cited was freaking Breitbart news, which as you know has a troubling habit of  combining fantasy with reality.

In the article itself it only cites five cases of minors being shipped up to live with host families in Alaska, which if true does not seem terribly worrisome or extreme.

Here is how Breitbart reported what the HHS website lists are the criteria for finding placement:

"ORR cares for the children in shelters around the country until they can be released to a sponsor, typically a parent or relative, who can care for the child while their immigration case is processed," an HHS webpage says. "Ensuring that a potential sponsor can safely and appropriately care for the child is a top priority. A background check is conducted on all potential sponsors, and steps are taken to verify a potential sponsor’s identity and relationship to the child. In some cases where concerns are raised, a home study is done. Before children are released to a sponsor, they receive vaccinations and medical screenings. We do not release any children who have a contagious condition."

Once again I do not feel confident in taking Breitbart's word for the fact that this is even happening, and right now it is the sole source.

However if it is all it means is that the Obama administration is looking for a more humanitarian placement for these children until their cases come to court, which they are forced to do by a 2008 law signed by George W. Bush.

Despite what the ski masked militia on the Texas border might have you believe these immigrants are entitled to due process, and keeping them in cages until they get their day in court is both inhumane and unAmerican.

Regardless of what Sean Parnell might want to believe, Alaska IS part of the United States of America, and if our country has a problem we should be helping to alleviate it like every other state.

If Breitbart is even right, which is debatable.

P.S. By the way you have to know that the ONLY reason this would even be reported is to further damn the Obama administration in the eyes of Alaskans, as a way of damaging Mark Begich's reelection chances.

Other than that I cannot imagine why Alaskans would even give a shit. After all Alaskans have been volunteering as host families to house foreign exchange students and refugees for decades, and nobody cared until now.

There are five undocumented kids living at the Palin house.

Every time I watch SarahTV, I see Bristol and Willow hiding kids under the rug and throwing them in closets.

Even her Adult kids are undocumented, by Sealing all of their records. At least 2 of her kids out of four are not Todd Palin's offspring. They have misused the Native Healthcare system for many years.

Parnell is an ass! Five kids that will have sponsorship in Alaska? I say yea and wonderful!

I so hope folks are paying attention to Parnell due to his being up for reelection. We need to put a Democrat in that position and get the oil man out of there! Parnell is nothing more than a shell!!!

I would like to see the host families denounce Mr. Parnell He says he is alarmed by this news; well I think we can all agree that his lack of Christian compassion is even more alarming.

I Watched Sarah Palin’s Channel So You Don’t Have To

...Obama is her ultimate foil, what with his Ivy League degrees, his slender, vaguely metrosexual airs, and his condescending habit of speaking in diagrammable sentences. Palin needs him the way the Harlem Globetrotters need the Washington Generals, except that Obama is the one who usually wins, which is his greatest service to Palin. Because imagine an alternate universe in which Palin wins. She herself did, which is why she’s no longer knocking around the Alaska statehouse, and why, it says here, she’ll never run for president. Crusades are more fun than governing, plus you can’t monetize the latter, not legally, anyway.

Gov Parnell, wearing his WWJD bracelet, told the reporters the five stray children being sent to Alaska will be euthanized by the ASPCA when they arrive.

Does this nitwit not remember that Alaska took Hmong and Vietnamese after the war there ended? What a dope who seems to have forgotten the admonishment, "even as ye do this to the least of these."

Yes, Alaskans - Be very afraid of five children who came to your vast state between the months of January and June!! Ooohh - how very scary (NOT)! Sheesh - Parnell acts as bad as the people proclaiming that we should have left the two doctors fighting the Ebola virus "over there"! (I actually think that's what Trump said the other day.) The RWNJs who have exposed their xenophobia ought to never claim "pro-life" status.

That's some scary shit over at Breitbart in the comment section of that story. They're seriously talking revolution -- which of the military will be with the president and which types will be more likely to assassinate their superiors over immoral orders ...

I'm old enough to remember Wtergate and how relieved I was that Watergate summer didn't lead to a coup or armed insurrection by the Nixonistas.

I'm young enough that I'm now fairly sure the right wingers will have a coup or armed insurrection in my lifetime.

Anon@12:19... In many ways I am glad to be ancient enough to possibly not see the scenario you project, but I fear for the next generations, i. e. my kids and grandchildren for the insanities of the fanatics, both religionists, supremacists, and white power nationalists they may have to fight.
Those thoughts are fodder for nightmares.

These oathkeeper types who are so anxious to start an armed revolution are just the kind that Palin and the wingers can't afford to diss. What, for example, would happen to the contributions to SarahPAC if she were to come out and tell people they're paranoid, they really don't have to stockpile food? Never happen. The opposition has to be not just clueless but evil and frightening, and deserving of any punishment including hanging for treason.

Last week, it was announced that eight children were here in Maine. The paper reported that the children have been placed in private homes. The Governor expressed outrage for the same reasons as the Alaskan Governor. I think someone sends these Republican Governors talking points.

Anyway, it backfired big time because it really isn't the Governor's business and he has not said one more word on the matter. Plus he looked like a complete asshole denying shelter to little kids who need a place to stay while their cases are heard before a judge.

I hope all these little kids get to stay in the United States. And I am really glad they are placing the children all over the country and not just in the Southwest. The Northeast, especially Maine, could use a little more diversity.

    You covered it all
    Lapdog to Grifter
    Breitbart as a credible source
And placing immigrants until they can get processed isn't illegal, it's Un American and inhumane. We're the United States, and as so, I see no problem with each state sharing the humanitarian efforts to process these kids.

I don't know much about Parnell, but something tells me it's more about President Obama than it is five kids.

Actually, it always comes down to cash when you are stupid and lacking in any principles. While I envy the people of Alaska for the beauty of their state, I pity them for this heartless and clueless dud of a governor. Oh, right... that has been a tradition since 2008.

Proud of our Alaskan families that are hosting those little children.

If Parnell wants to investigate children, how about investigating and sending the CPS to the Palin house and place Trig with a caring family?

I have only visited the beautiful state of Alaska. Once in the the summer on a cruise and once in Fairbanks enjoying your awesome winter wonderland and Northern Lights. However, as a grandma, I would be concerned that adjusting to the weather for children from Mexico and central America may be difficult from them.
