NBC News producer Frank Thorp V caught the late-for-the-conference-meeting Alaska Republican’s manhandling of an unsuspecting staffer on camera. Per Thorp’s Twitter feed, the aide had attempted to redirect Young to enter the already in-progress GOP strategy session through another doorway when things got physical.
“While returning to the GOP conference meeting to discuss the ongoing situation on our southern border, I was caught off guard by an unidentified individual who was physically blocking me from reentering the room,” Young said in a statement. “Regardless, my reaction was wrong and I should have never placed my hands on the young man.”
I cannot tell you how embarrassed Alaskans are to have this asshole representing us.
Oh, so it's the aide's fault? He was caught off guard - that's why he had to grab someone's hand and twist it all the way around? Typical gop blame the victim ploy. I sincerely hope this aide files a criminal complaint for assault AND at a minimum sends him the medical bills to have his arm checked out. Might at least send him a message and take him down a notch or two. Oh yeah, he was rushing back into a meeting to NOT vote on the border bill.

Don Young is a known jerk and smart ass - and, he's not changed in all these years. He seems to be prideful of his nasty actions!

He should be arrested for assault and I hope the aide is smart enough to retain a lawyer, this is classified as assault in the workplace.

The native population has always supported Young in Alaska. He was married to a native woman for years, that sadly died a year or two ago. (Very nice lady, by the way!)
DeletePeople in Alaska need to talk to that population and educate some that might not really know or follow Don Young in the U. S. Congress. They see him very differently when he travels in their areas when he is running for office.
Why didn't this guy press assault charges? You cannot put your hands on someone else. Until these asswads get charged for their actions, they will continue to do this shit. DeleteThey vote for people like Don Young because of the bullying culture here. They act like him so they think his behavior is normal. What really struck me was the expression of anger on his face, if he had been somewhere else he probably would have decked that staffer. He looked like a toxic and angry more than ever in that video. Even if the staffer was the one who was wrong (and of course he was simply told to stand there and divert interruptions) he had no right to put his hands on him.

I've lived in Alaska for eons and since first being able to vote, have NEVER cast mine for the asshole Don Young! I never liked his smart ass attitude and was so correct even as a young one!
DeleteHope other voters in Alaska are paying attention and checking the records of this guy - he doesn't work hard, does not lend much, and does not vote on a lot of the issues placed before him! Plus, he is not well thought of by the folks that work w/him.

ReplyDeleteI have never voted for Don Young, don't ask me how he keeps getting voted into office. I'm guessing the Democrats have never had a serious contender with enough $ to win. This year I will support anyone but Don Young again.
