Greg Abbott backs out of only state wide televised debate with Wendy Davis. Pansy ass! Update!

Courtesy of WFAA:

Republican candidate Greg Abbott has reversed his decision to appear in the only gubernatorial debate to be broadcast statewide on television.

Abbott and his Democratic opponent, Wendy Davis, had both agreed to participate in a roundtable debate in Dallas on Sept. 30.

But on Friday morning, Abbott's team reversed an earlier decision and said it will not participate alleging concern over the format.

"Due to our inability to agree on specific details of the format, Attorney General Greg Abbott will regretfully not be participating in the WFAA debate," said Robert Black, senior campaign adviser on Friday morning.

Yeah I imagine the specific details that the Abbott campaign was opposed to was the detail where he had to actually stand on stage with Davis and debate her. (Update: I have been reminded that Abbott is paralyzed and wheelchair bound, so obviously "standing on stage" is not an option. Sorry for my insensitivity.)

By the way I really had to censor myself writing he headline because as a man of a certain age my usual go to word would have been "pussy." But as I realized in this situation is was the person with the vagina that was showing her cojones and the guy with the dick that was embarrassing his gender.

Which reminded me of a quote often attributed to Betty White, though she has since stated that she never said it, which states the following:

“Why do some people say, ‘Grow some balls?’ Balls are weak and sensitive. If you really wanna get tough, grow a vagina. Those things take a pounding.”

Which I think is a very good, though admittedly crude, point.

And in this case it is certainly Wendy Davis who is demonstrating her courage and toughness and Abbott who seems to be shaking in his cowboy boots.

After all it's kind of hard to hit the campaign trail acting all macho if you are too afraid to face off against a little girl? Right Texas?

Rick Perry always refused to debate too.

Betty White said it. I remember watching her when she said it. I can't place the context.

    1. It sounds so like her.

But perhaps, though she said it she didn't write or originate it.

Boy, if I had I would be proud to admit it.

I read today that his 'education' plan to send more money to charter schools was shot down today. What a creep. Texas better wake up. This guy is no doubt even more corrupt than Perry, and in the pocket of ALEC and the Kochs. Vote them out, Texas!!
In good news, Snyder is behind in MI polling, and so is the ever-dishonest Terry Lynn Land. Since the Kochs have been hitting Marc Shauer and Peters very hard over their liberal votes, this is great news. Shauer and Peters don't have near the resources of the GOP, and to know that people in MI are not fooled by Governor Nerd and his pretend support of schools and jobs makes me happy. We still have to keep working, but things may turn around yet in this country.

Greg Abbott had another bad day in court on Thursday. He has a lot of those. In June, a Federal Court knocked him down to size in a dispute about attorney fees and courts costs in Abbott’s failed attempt to salvage gerrymandering and vote suppression.

This time, an Austin judge dealt a devastating blow to Greg Abbott’s campaign against public education. In District court Judge John Dietz’s 404 page ruling, he concludes that the Lone Star state’s school financing system is unconstitutional, unfair and insufficient. The Texas Taxpayer and Student Fairness Coalition et al challenged a state policy that “improperly controls local property taxation” Moreover, “the evidence clearly establishes that local districts do not have meaningful discretion in the levy, assessment and disbursement of property taxes; therefore the Texas school financing system imposes an unconstitutional state property tax.”

Wendy Davis is after all... "Abortion Barbie"! I'm sure he is afraid to face her.... face to face and not be able to do a "Palin" "Can I just call you barbie"? And leave her questions, (he has much to be questioned about apparently....)unanswered like Palin pulled in VPOTUS "O'Biden" debate!
He will whine like the republican bitch that he is and claim that his wheel chair wasn't accommodated or what not, but we all know that is a lie.
      He is afraid of Wendy!

  5. Perhaps Clint Eastwood can bring his chair and she can debate against that instead. It's just about the same anyway.

No, the moron talks to the chair.
So Abbott's best chances at a match are him vs. Chair.

"Abbott who seems to be shaking in his cowboy boots."

"kind of hard to strut around the campaign trail acting all macho"

Hey Gryph, Abbot probably wont be standing or strutting anywhere since he is a paraplegic in a wheelchair with steel rods in his spine. Do you actually not know this?

His politics aside, Abbot is a smart dude, Texas will actually have an intelligent Gov for the first time in a while. It is also wise not to debate since he already has this thing in the bag.

He's so smart he's in trouble for Gerrymandering and school system? Oh that's a smart man alright.
      As usual the Republican whine.
He still shaking in his boots.

    2. What happens in other states affects me, so no thanks on Abbot. Intelligence isn't enough. I don't give a fuck that he's intelligent when he doesn't support human rights, justice and equality.

4:19. He is not shaking about anything, he will win this race hands down unless something really comes out of left field, which is 99.99% not likely to happen. You can stop the metaphors because they make you seem silly.

Hey Gryph: I have the same sentiments about Abbott (and I live here - yikes!) but you may wanna be careful of soem language: "stand on stage" and "strut around" since he's in a wheelchair. Thanks!

It's being reported that other Republicans running for office are dropping out of their debates. What a party that group is....not one to be proud of, or part of, that is for sure!

They are going to get kicked in their asses in November! And, beginning w/the jerk from Kentucky!!! He especially has to go - 'the obstructionist' should be his only reference!

He's another prick. Now that he wants to be president, he figures he better be nicer so some of the stupid and gullible will vote for him.

"Pansy ass! " Excuse me being OT. I thought I might live long enough to see words like pansy not being employed to impugn someone's "masculinity" (because we know there's only be right way to be a guy /sarc). I'm too old to go on hoping.

I guess the other side probably uses gender insults against Wendy.

Makes you proud to be an American.

    UPDATE 2

Abbott spun around again. Apparently he took and nap and woke up in a new world.

According to the Quorum Report —

In the meantime, this is the statement from the Abbott campaign“Texans for Greg Abbott today confirmed the acceptance of an invitation from KERA, NBC5/KXAS-TV, Telemundo 39 and The Dallas Morning News to participate in a statewide televised debate on September 30, 2014 at 8 p.m. This is in addition to a statewide televised debate scheduled for September 19th, 2014 in the Rio Grande Valley.
