The ad, titled, "The Cheerios Effect - André, Jonathan & Raphaëlle’s Story," indeed tells the story of how André and Jonathan met, and how Raphaëlle came into their lives. It's a beautiful story and the couple, from Canada, tell it in a heartwarming way, complete with French accents, for Cheerios Canada.
Of course, the ad is guaranteed to spark anger and anti-gay hate -- One Million Moms no doubt is getting their quill pen and ink warmed up, ready to fire off yet another misguided missive.
The Right Wing never tires of talking about the importance of family.
And yet when a happy family falls outside of their narrow definition of appropriate, they simply cannot resist attacking them and undermining their right to exist.
now if you will excuse me I have a little something in my eye, that I need to get out.
Lovely . . . .
ReplyDeleteWhy is it that the "Christians" who hate, cannot recognize the fact that it IS hate, they espouse. Why do they look at it as a "teaching", or as a "dogmatic" fact. Why do they not see the pain caused by their hate, in the face of the love being expressed by couples, like these two loving men.
ReplyDeleteWhere is their mirror?
Or are they blinded by their beliefs/hate?
Rhetoric is a bitch, isn't it.
If every child had loving parents like these two, the world would be a much better place.
ReplyDeletewhat a great way to start my day, thanks for sharing this!
ReplyDeleteMany people love to hate: they're intrinsically hateful beings.
ReplyDeleteMany of those comb through their Bibles looking for passages to justify their hate.
...and they find them.
Sorry to interrupt Gryph, and imma let you finish, but the interracial Cherios commercial is the best of all time. OF ALL TIME!!!

HOLD YOUR LOVED ONES TIGHT. SAY I LOVE YOU EVERY SECOND. You never know what might help someone fight something you know nothing about.
ReplyDeleteAnother young death in the valley, after several others in the last few months. Most have been vehicle crash related (cars, pay attention to bikes)
But this recent one was suicide. Depression is NO joke. Rosie hit the nail on its head. When a person is legitimately depressed, NOTHING looks good to them. NOTHING feels good to them.
:'(
Every time you want to write or say a negative, unnecessary word, rethink yourself. Ask "what would my parents have told me if I was 7 and thinking this?" Ask, "how would I feel if someone said it about me?" Ask "how would I feel if someone presumed to know me and my struggle?"
We all have battles. CHOOSE LOVE
RIP Alaskans who've died before you turned 25
Canadians don't care who loves whom and wants to make a life together. We see it as being none of our business, and it's certainly not the government's!
ReplyDeleteWe're all filthy communists with universal healthcare dontcha know :)
~Canuck~
And loving the FREEDOMS we have!
DeleteThey will scream and yell at this and in the same breath support candidates that cut money for schools, food and shelter for millions of kids all over the US.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this with us and kudos to those 2 wonderful men who opened up their hearts and home and this lucky little girl.
CNN said the Director of the FBI said we are under 'imminent threat'...this was after his visit to Alaska and intel about Palin...
ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness! Now Cheerios REALLY has done it! TSK, TSK, TSK! First they bring up interracial commercials, and now GAY AND INTERRACIAL?! /snark
ReplyDeleteLOVE THE COMMERCIAL!!! Somehow dusty in my place, too...
Life is short.
ReplyDeleteCHOOSE LOVE.
"now if you will excuse me I have a little something in my eye, that I need to get out."
ReplyDeleteI had something myself. It was so hard to get to I had to react to it BEFORE I read your comments!
I'm so glad I had Cheerios for breakfast!!!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Cheerios. They made the controversial commercial starring the black man, white woman and mixed race child. I never even noticed UNTIL the t-baggers went crazy with rage.
ReplyDeletewhat a great start to the day. sniff, sniff, snuffle...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful family. Lucky little girl.
ReplyDeleteAnd the darling little girl is getting Cheerios all by herself! At such a young age! Perhaps she could give a loving lesson to Trigg.
ReplyDelete+ 1,000,000!
DeleteThank you General Mills for continuing to show all kinds of loving families in your commercials.
ReplyDeleteAnd damned if my allergies didn't just flare up, I better go get a tissue.
How fortunate the three of them are!
ReplyDeleteJust yesterday, coincidentally, I was remembering how for years--years!!--I always kept one of those frequently refilled plastic Cheerios holders in my carry-all. And one day, resting on the grass at the National Zoo, my middle son saw a little girl, about the same age as the one in the advert, eyeing his snack wistfully, and asked me, "Can I share? Ask her daddies?"
What a lovely moment! The daddies and I all had something in our eyes also, too... Darn those contact lenses!
And all I had to say to my then-little boy later was that he had been very kind to some of D.C.'s many many visitors. "I hope they have an 'O-box' now, too. Do you think so?" he replied.
I said I did.
What a beautiful family...in every single way.
ReplyDeleteLucky daddies and lucky little girl.
Ok, being drop dead gorgeous with a French accent doesn't hurt any man who wants to be a dad. But I teared up anyway! Sniffle...
ReplyDeleteI'm not a Cherrio person, per se, but from now on, It's my favorite brand. What a beautiful family! They're exceptional parents because it's obvious that child was wanted. It's not dust, my eyeballs are sweating.
ReplyDeleteThis post has nothing to do with Sarah Palin but I wanted to share an observation.
ReplyDeleteSarah and Todd are heterosexuals. Sarah pushes her agenda against same-sex marriage.
These two young men are Gay and they do not look down on heterosexuals.
Sarah Palin's child has yet to eat a Cheerio or any type of solid food.
This child with two daddies is eating Cheerios
Enough said.
