In response to lawsuit the state of Alaska did a huge document dump concerning the Alaska National Guard scandal late yesterday. Can you say "redacted?"

Courtesy of Alaska Dispatch:

An initial review of Alaska National Guard-related documents released by the state Friday in response to a media lawsuit shows the Parnell administration received more complaints about the guard than have so far been reported.

But so many words and paragraphs among the 596 pages of emails and attached documents were redacted by state lawyers and the administration that the significance of some of the correspondence was difficult to discern.

The attorney general’s office made the document dump Friday afternoon in response to a court order in a public records lawsuit brought by Alaska Dispatch News and Alaska Public Media. The news organizations sued the state after records requests going back to May were denied or ignored by the governor’s office.

I have only had a little while to go through the e-mails and correspondence, but it is pretty clear that most of what could damage Sean Parnell has been redacted, much like those Sarah Palin e-mails from years ago.

However the one thing that is crystal clear is just how long this problem existed in the Alaska National Guard, and the fact that nothing was really ever done to stop it up until the media started to report on it.

It will take days, if not weeks to go through the entire document dump, and the Alaska Dispatch is asking or help from its readers, so if any of you have the time....

Remember we only have this weekend to find any smoking guns to use against Parnell before Tuesday's election. But hey, no pressure.

Here are some thoughts for your week ahead as I prepare to go off the grid for a few days (unless an
    emergency or urgent matter arises)

2 . Interior Energy Project: REDACTED DP/EP early on after I return to Juneau in a week. REDACTED DP/EP

    4 . National Guard:
A . If you haven't already, pls have Gen Katkus give direction that McCugh should have absolutely nothing to do with cases where Guard members are under investigation or subject to review--
especially as they relate to two people he is
personally connected to. No viewing of files, no
    conversations, etc.

    B. Pls work with Cindy to ascertain what options are available for independent review of the Guard
investigator's cases (after my letter goes out to
General Gorske). Pls see if we can get that in
place on the next week or so in coordination with the Guard Bureau. Cindy has an edited copy of
my letter to get in final for tomorrow so that hasn 't gone out yet.

"Documents obtained by Alaska Dispatch News show that Pierre inserted himself into one of the inquiries into the alleged sexual misconduct of a married recruiter, an incident of which Parnell's office was aware.

The recruiter, a high school classmate of Pierre's from the late 1990s, was also accused of sexual harassment, of mistreating junior enlisted soldiers, of possessing steroids and committing assault. In June 2014, Cindy Sims, a senior staffer and close aide to the governor, received an email detailing the situation with this and dozens of other soldiers.
The document notes that this soldier, whose name has been withheld since no criminal charges were ever filed, was recommended for removal from his full-time position and to be separated from the service with "other than honorable discharge." Nothing came of it, apparently, after Pierre gave input to Katkus and the assistant adjutant general, Brig. Gen. Leon Bridges."

Allegations made beginning on on page 431 and continuing including on pages 447 and 448 memos to The Anchorage Police Department Records Section requesting the access to police reports referenced.
    On Page 431:

    Sent: Tuesday, July 01, 2014 7:23 AM

Subject: Unlawful activity report to the Governor
    Importance: High

Executive Summary: This email puts the Governor's office on notice of allegations of unlawful access by the Alaska National Guard to confidential police rape reports that contain intimate details about civilians with no military affiliation. This secret National Guard program used federal funds to help state official's access
confidential police files that they normally would have been unable to access without a Court order or statutory authority. It has been in place for years and apparently to me with the consent and/or knowledge of Major General Katkus and other senior leaders. This program likely violates the constitutional rights of civilian sex crime victims and other civilians who gave statements in criminal matters who had no clue their confidential police reports/statements were being widely distributed within the National Guard.

Your and the Governor's immediate attention to this matter is requested.

Hmmm. So they do the dump on a Friday, and not just any Friday but the Friday before the election, and they are redacted beyond reason. So I guess now he can say that he didn't hold them until after the election to protect himself like some people were saying. No, Sean, you just held them to the last possible minute then had your lackeys redact the crap out of them to prevent anything of substance being found. This bastard has got to go.

So true, wait until Friday!! This is the way crooks behave. If Parnell has any idea this will go away after the election he is in denial.

I'm so damn sick and tired of ll this redacted stuff. What's the point of FOIA in the first place if this is what's released? What a crock of shit and waste of time.

Oh....and a hearty FUCK YOU Sarah Palin.

I don't trust Parnell as far as I can throw him! He just appears too damned slimy to me. Already voted and did NOT cast my vote for him. Think he's done a horrid job as Alaska's gov - think him corrupt!

The Palin email dump and related lawsuit exposed AK's ridiculous legal definition of 'executive privilege'. And here we go again. Stuff a dirty sock in the mouth of any candidate or official who claims to want to be held accountable but isn't fighting to change the 'executive privilege' law.

    hoohah. Thanks John.

"I think these family affairs are -- I don't know much of the details about it," McCain told the TV station. "Things happen in people's families and I'm not excusing it, I'm not condemning it."

He's correct. The media is stupid for blowing up a single incident when no one knows any real info into why.

It's not like THAT is typical behavior.

Though notice that one of the cleary boys made a joke about raping someone and often talks about fighting and boozing

It's sad how the media finds pleasure in tearing good people down

      But the media's stupidity doesn't change a person's truth.

Unrelated, I WISH tmz would leave Amanda Bynes alone. THAT is a person who has REAL problems and her parents need to take reigns.

Hear that libs? Amanda has huge issues. Palins do not. So stop undercutting real issues by lying about people you enjoy slandering

But does the audio of what actually happened change the Palins' "truth"? Yes, yes it does. "Good people" don't make a beeline to attack a woman who may have pushed a family member, and they don't punch a guy who stands in the way. Oh, and they don't get fallling down drunk or drunk to the point of not knowing where they are, and they don't drop the F bomb dozens of times when talking to the police. They don't leave their "5-year-old" in the limo when they go our to party to the point of being "extremely intoxicated."

2:23, Really Lily St. Clairvoyant? IT IS typical behavior. You need to accept that. Maybe your god therapist can help you with that. FACT!

Such a hypocrite. There you go again spreading lies and rumors about some young man in Alaska that you don't know a damn thing about. Why are you so obsessed with him? Eww! That's sick. Your petty little attempt to draw attention away from your idols has never worked and will never work.FACT!

How sad are you Lily? Ever think about upping your meds? You're sure sad a lot. Your fantasy family are not good people. FACT!

Damn it! There' that stupid media trying to change their truth. The brawling bitches don't have no stinking truths. They couldn't even spell that word. FACT!

Here let me show you the definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over and over and over again expecting a different result, yup, that's you. FACT!

Lilybell, You can not change a person's truth if there is no truth there. FACT!

Who the hell is Amanda Bynes? You must hang out at TMZ a lot. FACT! If you need to purge your opinion about what TMZ does, Ummm, maybe you should skip on over to TMZ and tell THEM all about it. FACT!

Poor little delusional Pointy, Your fantasy family has issues you don't even know about. FACT! They also have issues stacked out in the garage, all of those newspapers they've never read. FACT!

Undercutting, Snort! You mean like, I was under, cutting a branch and it fell on my pointy little head?

You STILL don't, after all of these years, know what slander is. FACT! Poor Slanderella.

Oh dude, what's that smell? You shit your diapers again, didn't you? You know, it is okay to leave your computer long enough to use the bathroom. FACT!

      Now run along stinky.

Knowing full well that most of the information will be redacted, why give so much advance warning? Why not just go in and confiscate their computers? This is ridiculous. Ordinary citizens would not be treated with kid gloves like these unethical people are. Imagine if pedophiles were given a few months advance notice that they were going to raided, and computers seized? They could delete all the files weeks in advance. SEIZE the computers, they ARE government property aren't they? Also, too make it illegal to use phones for government business, unless the information is made public.

Why have FOIA if they're all heavily redacted? Isn't the point transparency? Our Tax Dollars tossed out the window. I'd say "at work" but there's little or no benefit to the taxpayers for "work" that doesn't create new jobs, infrastructure etc.....
