All of the inconsistencies in the Michael Brown shooting witnesses in one graphic.
Mother Jones did some more expansive reporting on these troubling inconsistencies, as well as reminding us that 16 of the witnesses agreed that when he was shot Michael Brown had his hands up.
This is fascinating, from a purely academic standpoint. It's also the reason why the Wilson should have been indicted by the Grand Jury where the burden of proof is relatively low. A trial would have helped to tease these inconsistencies out. Maybe Wilson wouldn't have ultimately been convicted, but in this case, the community and all parties involved deserved the justice system to work the way it was intended. Grand Juries indict when there is probable cause. There was definitely probable cause here.
The current situation in St. Louis is complex. Mike Brown's death is just part of it. There are many angry people, conflicting agendas, fragmented leadership, inability to de-escalate, etc. In addition there is an oversupply of weapons. This is a powder keg.
There's a video of two construction workers gesturing with their hands up. It's their reaction to the shooting. The video is moments after the shooting. There's no cross contamination by other witnesses or media.
Only 4 grand jurors had to vote no to avoid an indictment.
Our mayor and chief of police, Michael Nutter and Chief Ramsey were in Washington at a meeting President Obama called on how things will be handled from now on. Ramsey is old school and he shook up our police to be more racially sensitive. He starts them on the street beat where they learn the people they protect and serve, along the way they work their way to being full fledged cops, they know how to handle any situation that comes their way. POTUS is buying cameras that all cops have to wear, so everything's well documented. I know this won't cure racism nor police overreach, but it's a good start.
"Based on the chart"... Laugh. Why have the Grand Jury meet for months when all they needed was this simple chart yes? It is not going to happen, no fed charges, no civil trial. The chart is very misleading.
OT but has anyone seen these cowboy boots that Screech wore for thanksgiving? I like how no one in her family is paying attention to her!

Judging by that chart of witness testimony, Darren Wilson should have been indicted.
ReplyDeleteI just hope the Feds step in and do the job the Grand Jury refused to do. INDICT WILSON!

DeleteI read on another blog that the DA was in there with the Grand Jury pinch hitting for Wilson. What a miscarriage of justice.
