A Baltimore Fox affiliate station apologized to a Black Lives Matter protester on Monday after the station deceptively edited a chant by protesters to say “Kill a cop.”
According to Talking Points Memo, the chant, led by protester Tawanda Jones, actually said, “We won’t stop, we can’t stop, ’til killer cops, are in cell blocks.”
On Monday, Gawker noted the deceptive editing, juxtaposing Baltimore Fox station WBFF’s footage against actual footage from the protest event, which the site acquired via C-SPAN.
The Fox station apologized to the protesters and to Jones both on its Facebook page and in an interview with Jones.
The Facebook post claimed that the station’s engineers misheard what the protesters were chanting and called it an “honest misunderstanding.”
"Honest misunderstanding?" Seriously?
As I reported before it appears that the Fox affiliate went out of their way to make the protesters appear scary and bent on violence.
Below you can see the interview with Tawanda Jones, during which the affiliate plays an unedited video of her chants, which is NOT the same footage shown on WBFF originally which also featured a voice over completely misrepresenting what she was saying, and then attempts to make it sound like it was an honest mistake.
It clearly wasn't.
Really, she should sue for libel and defamation of character. Just like the gentleman at the Boston marathon is suing Beck. That's the only way they learn.

Initially the public defender issued a Motion to Dismiss Indictment (Under Seal) meaning that all items pertaining to this case from the public defender would not be public record, hence, "Under Seal". All further activity on this case has been filed using the "Under Seal" addendum, both from the Palin's lawyer and Fererro's lawyer so both sides are choosing to try to keep this case out of the public record for some reason. His bail was set very high, and from the only public information available he had priors which led to the associated "aggravated" being added to his crime against the Palins.
DeleteAggravation generally means that the defendant has displayed behaviors that could lead to a greater crime or has prior charges that had in common with the current charge a greater degree of malfeasance.
Aggravation can be appended to a charge, in Ferrero's case, because he has been arrested for prior stalking and assault, leading the court to believe that given time and no law enforcement intervention that his current charge could have escalated to the levels of his previous charges if police had not intervened, in short, he was stalking with the intent to do harm, as he has done in the past.
This guy seems mentally ill and in need of rehabilitation prior to being released from jail and is most likely a danger to himself and others.
Just another reason that the Palins should live "more privately" if they want to avoid people like Ferrero. How many stalkers is it going to take before they stop putting themselves out there?
In my opinion this one seems a little more dangerous than their previous stalkers the Christys.

Doesn't one of Sarah's former lovers operate the prison system where Ferroro resides? The Palins would certainly have full charge of what they need in any jail also.
How would anyone know what drugs he is on or how he can be controlled and manipulated while in jail? What if he has documents to prove what he is trying to say but he has no way to stand up for himself or present evidence?
He could be in need of mental health attention and the way they are treating him is only making him worse. The crazier he is the better for the Palins. It is not necessarily fact. They may be intentionally harming and destroying him to save their own skin.
I am so impressed with the way she conducted herself in this interview. She accepted their apology but then went on to explain why it was so offensive and misleading. Good for her! And I agree--I hope she sues, not just for herself but to send Fox a message.

ReplyDeleteBut surely everyone knows that the media (including Fox) has used editing for and against the police, for and against protesters.
It's to sell stories and create a reality in our minds that is more hard-core and socially dramatic in ways that the full story would not create. Even if the true full story is disturbing enough, they will make it more-so in ways like this.
