George W. Bush says that he badly wants his brother Jeb to run for president -- and that if he were to face off against Hillary Clinton, he would "absolutely" beat her in a 2016 matchup.
"He knows I want him to run," the former president told Candy Crowley on CNN's "State of the Union" Sunday. "If I need to reiterate it, I will: Run, Jeb. I think he'd be a great president."
Asked if he considered Clinton to be "formidable," Bush said, "Very much so. No question. So is he, though.
"I think he'd beat her," he said.
I have a policy against ever agreeing with Bush on anything, but I think he is not to far off here.
While I don't necessarily think that Jeb could beat Hillary for the presidency, I will say that he has the best chance hands down of doing so.
If he runs, and it really looks like he will, 2016 is going to be an incredibly ugly campaign season.
Probably even worse than what we saw done against Obama this last time around.
The thing to remind everybody about is that Jeb helped to steal the election for "W" in 2000, and his brother then damn near destroyed the country. All of the problems that this country has faced in the last fourteen years, that the Republicans keep trying to blame on President Obama, are the the fault of George W. Bush. And by extension the brother who handed Florida to him on a plate.
That simply CANNOT be stressed enough.
I'm not sure that either one of them, Clinton or Bush, would actually win their primaries. Lot of "cart before the horse" going on here and there are better options on both sides than either one of them. If it does come down to Bush v. Clinton I can't sa I'd vote for either of them. Then again, most races these days aren't worthy of my vote. Tired of Turd Sandwich v. Giant Douche....

ReplyDeleteWell of COURSE - everything W does he does badly.
And while I'm at it - I'd like to wish Sarah Palin a
"HAPPY HOLIDAY!
"Well of COURSE - everything W does he does badly."
DeleteLove it, thanks! (And thanks for putting a smile on my face, after the scowl that this topic brought up for me.)
I thought Jeb had some outside-his-marriage hanky panky that's kept him off the national scene.
ReplyDeleteIf there's something there, it'll certainly be brought up early on.
I think that was Neil, and the family threw his wife Sharon under the bus.
DeleteIt was Jeb.

Jeb was involved with a man who defrauded Medicare also. He is a crook, like the rest of the Bush family. As for being the "smart" Bush, how smart would anyone have to be to beat Dubya? He has many skeletons in his closet, and if he runs they will all come out.
DeleteNeil had banking issues. Maybe marriage problems, too.
DeleteJeb was thought to be playing around in the '90s as well.
Their father did it, with a woman who worked for the government.
Who doesn't, is more the question, but voters won't vote for a known adulterer.
Sorry, I don't think he'd beat her. All the polls they are running currently show the youngest Bush brother NOT in first place amongst other Republicans! He runs second or third pretty consistently and in the one digit numbers!
ReplyDeleteHillary, on the other hand, in her polls wins first place by a substantial percentage....no one even close to her!
Who wants a Republican that will have us in more wars and back into substantial debt? Not me!
NY Senator HIllary Clinton voted YES for allowing then President Bush to invade Iraq due to overwhelming evidence of Weapons of Mass Destruction. She is a warmonger at heart and no good for America.
DeleteYeh she voted yes right along with everyone else. So who you gonna pick if that's your sole criteria, genius? You can't be a one-issue voter AND be an intelligent voter.

DeleteThat is the least of my concerns regarding Mrs. Clinton's viability as the Democratic nominee for President of the United States of America. That being said she has not announced her intentions so this conversation need go no further.
Last I checked, we don't have dynasties in this country. Is there nobody out there NOT named Bush or Clinton that is available and willing?
ReplyDeleteA same generation spouse is hardly a "dynasty." I guess you don't think FDR should have been allowed to run, or John Quincy Adams.
DeleteFDR was a cousin of TR, distantly. He was a Democrat while TR was a Republican.

Yes, I know. They were the same family, however, and Eleanor was Teddy's immediate niece (daughter of teddy's brother). My point is at exactly what level of relationship or number of generations does one have a "dynasty"?
And don't forget Jebbie was responsible for the Terry Schiavo debacle that ended up getting Congress and his brother involved in what should have been a private family matter. And if he thinks his opponents won't bring it up, his thinking is way out of kilter. And then the Republicans claim they want smaller government and not sticking their noses into everyone's private business. Hah!
ReplyDeleteI remember this vividly as Kenny Boy was scrambling to save Enron....mantra must have been throw money at it to prop up stock. What you say Jeb,,,and this is just one of your crooked deeds.
Delete"Florida’s pension fund –for which you chair the oversight board –lost $334 million on Enron stocks and bonds in the wake of the company’s collapse. Many of the pension fund’s investments were made as Enron’s stock was plummeting in value and financial problems at the company were being publicly revealed. Investigations into the fund’s losses are now being conducted by the Florida attorney general, the Florida State Board of Administration and a committee appointed by the state House of Representatives."

Dumb and dumber 3.
ReplyDeleteNo kidding. Do I want that as my president? The idiot on the right was MORE than enough.
DeleteNot to worry. Sarah is planning on announcing her intentions to run in Iowa next month. I can't wait! Finally the press can do it's job!
ReplyDeleteSarah as president. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
DeleteGood. Run Sarah. Let's get this over with.
DeleteShort and sweet and FINALLHY!
The instant I saw that photo of JB, I thought TRIG!

ReplyDeleteFoll us once, shame on, shame on you. Fool us twice...we can't get fooled again"
Fuckin retards.
NEVER AGAIN.
You won't steal another one.
um, many problems started during Clinton admin. FACT.
ReplyDeleteThe deregulation started in the mid 90s
God help us. I really mean it.

Jeb's got too many checks against him. His wife took thousands of dollars worth of clothes, daughter Noelle had/has an addiction to powdering her nose- from the inside. The son had legal issues with an underage girl (the one GWB paraded at the RNC as the Hispanic side of the family. Then we have the recount that stole the election from Gore, pregnant chads, days and days of careful looking at punch cards with magnifying glasses... etc. And without a Jeb, George W would NEVER have been President. Then the Schiavo affair.... yes, please DO run, Jeb!
