Rep. Michael Grimm announced late Monday night plans to resign from Congress, after pleading guilty to a felony tax evasion charge last week.
The announcement came just hours after a source familiar with Grimm's thinking told CNN he would resign "sooner rather than later," after the New York Daily News broke the news of Grimm's plans to step down.
"After much thought and prayer, I have made the very difficult decision to step down from Congress effective January 5th, 2015. This decision is made with a heavy heart, as I have enjoyed a very special relationship and closeness with my constituents, whom I care about deeply," Grimm said in a statement issued shortly before midnight by his office.
The Staten Island congressman was indicted in April on 20 counts relating to his health food restaurant, Healthalicious, including charges that he filed false tax returns; engaged in mail fraud, wire fraud and perjury; and knowingly hired undocumented workers.
House Speaker John Boehner called Grimm's decision to step down "honorable" in a statement on Tuesday.
You know there are a lot of slimy politicians in Congress, but this guy was one of the slimiest.
And it is somewhat unbelievable that despite the fact that he certain to be convicted he was still reelected.
And don't forget this is the same shit heel who threatened to throw a reporter off a balcony and break him in half "like a boy."
Don't let the door hit you on the ass on the way out douchebag.
There is NOTHING honorable about Grimm. He shouldn't even be allowed to be in the building, much less "work" till the 5th.

Palin Supporters Announce Super PAC
Political Earthquake PAC/Grassroots4Palin to Support Governor Palin's Leadership for America
[ALBUQUERQUE, NM] - Supporters of Governor Sarah Palin today announced the formation of Political Earthquake PAC/Grassroots4Palin - a Super PAC which will independently advocate on behalf of Palin and the leadership and vision that she has for our nation.
"The Earthquake will harness the power of Americans nationwide to support Governor Palin," said Sandra Bailey. "America is struggling, and President Obama and Washington business-as-usual politicians are the problem. The Earthquake will support a leader who has inspired millions, who understands that government stands in the way of unleashing America's entrepreneurial spirit, and who believes America must remain the world's superpower. America needs Governor Palin's leadership as a commonsense Constitutional Conservative not to continue to fundamentally change America, but to restore America."
The Earthquake will be a grassroots-powered organization, administered by Sandra Bailey.

Obama had that. Most do regardless of intentions of the potential candidatr
DeleteOoh, Palin isn't going to like that. Unless the PAC has plans to funnel the money to her somehow.
DeleteJust how do these fools plan to "support" Palin Because there is only one way that matters to Palin and it isn't moral support. If it diverts donations that go to her long-established slush fund, she will be pissed.
oh CRAP, the "earthquake" AGAIN???
DeleteProceed, $arah, as my (RIP) Dad used to say, as we sat down for a game of cribbage, "come out and get chewed!"
I think all those who wish to see the Republican Party brand as it currently exits should donate to this PAC.
DeleteFools and their money are soon parted, especially if those fools are fans of Sarah Palin.
DeleteHey, 10:14 AM, you trot that little harlot out to say she's running first. Then we'll see who donates.
DeleteI'm 10:14. I meant to say: I think all those who wish to see the demise of the Republican Party brand as it currently exists should donate to this PAC.

SarahPAC money goes to people she endorses and POLITICAL EARTHQUAKE PAC GRASSROOTS4PALIN money goes to support Sarah Palin. She will need the funds on hand and raised so she knows we will have the efforts in process and can gauge a run based on grass roots coming together with the money needed and boots on the ground and we have been on the ground and 99.9% we are all still volunteers you will not find any SuperPac that work for free any where ever. We want that way. The FEC will be posting every dime spent on ads, billboards, video, TV ads, radio adds ...get the picture..
Well, 10:14 AM, as bad as the Republican party is, $arah is NOT the answer. She never has been. Lwt her come out to play, the stupid will donate, she'll make her excuse to quit, and live off the free money for months to come.
DeleteWhat absolute fools support her.
Didn't that Earthquake thing happen two years ago? Why are the Palin folks always so late to the party?
DeleteI don't think a Super Pac can directly funnel its funds to Palin. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
DeleteI agree with Nefer: this is a bunch of Sarah enthusiasts who haven't gotten the message that the money is supposed to go directly to Sarah.
And they haven't read the FEC filings of they think the Sarah Pac money goes to candidates she supports! She's really supporting the U.S. Postal Service, or so she says. There's so much "postage" that Sarah Pac pays for....

Riiiiight.
After much thought and prayer, I decided to accept bribes, not pay my taxes, lie about it, and try to pretend I'm innocent.
ReplyDeleteSince I was recorded on video threatening a reporter, I'm so sorry I said those things
But now that I'm busted, I guess I'll have to quit because I'm so sorry , but yeah, the lord has forgiven me, dontcha know.
Just another patriotic Teaparty religious asshole shielding himself with GAWD, because he can run next term as a repentant idiot
God also forgives prostitution rings, murder, extortion, blackmail, and that whole mafia life as well, right, $arah?
DeleteHe prayed, I laugh. I find it beyond hysterical when these heathens drag their god into it. Was he praying when he accepted bribes? Did he ask his god if it was okay to not pay his taxes? Did he pray when he broke one of his god's commandments? He prayed, lying assholes always do.
DeleteAnother asshole politician serving in the U.S. Congress calling on prayer! My ass! He's also the guy that threatened to throw the reporter over the bannister - remember?
ReplyDeleteI hope he rots in jail, but the sentence won't be long enough. He was forced to resign - thank god!
Just checked -- my father was in the U.S. House a long time ago, and the rules haven't changed: a Representative must serve two terms in order to be eligible for a pension.
ReplyDeleteBy filling out the rest of his second term, Grimm undoubtedly has qualified for his Congressional pension.
I'll bet that was one of his demands during his plea bargaining.
Update:
Deletefrom Wikipedia --
Federal Pension Forfeiture Act[edit]
Unofficially known as the 'Duke Cunningham Act', the Federal Pension Forfeiture Act is a piece of legislation introduced by Senators John Kerry (D-MA) and Ken Salazar (D-CO) that would cause a member of Congress to lose the pension due to:
Bribery of public officials or witnesses
Conspiracy to commit offense or to defraud the United States
Perjury while denying the commission of bribery or conspiracy
Subornation of perjury committed in connection with false denial or false testimony of another individual[9]
He's a god damned thug also, too. I remember him threatening the reporter. These Rethugs think they're shit don't stink.
ReplyDeleteHe should have been impeached. These hypocritical, chicken shit republicans have no ethics and won't go after one of their own.
ReplyDeleteI wonder what he was promised in return for stepping down?? These leeches do not give up easily, the money is too easy and plentiful for that.
ReplyDeleteWell, well, well. The prosecutor that failed to get an indictment for the NYPD officer that choked to death and murdered Eric Garner plans to run for the Grim one's congressional seat
ReplyDelete"After much thought and prayer" I decided you're the dumbest in the idiot department. Change that too "After consulting with my lawyer, I realized there's no way in hell I can get off, so I have to quit"
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame, I love the Grimms fairy tales!!!
