Courtesy of Raw Story:
Earlier this year, Carson had told the conservative news outlet Breitbart that the U.S. was “very much like Nazi Germany” because President Barack Obama was using the government to “intimidate the population.”
“What I heard the comparison of the United States of America — the greatest country in the world, the greatest country ever — to Nazi Germany, I said, what is he talking about?” Blitzer told Carson on Wednesday.
“See, what you were doing is allowing words to affect you more than listening to what was actually being said,” Carson insisted. “Nazi Germany experienced something horrible. The people in Nazi Germany largely did not believe in what Hitler was doing, but did they say anything? Of course not. They kept their mouths shut.”
“The fact that our government is using instruments of government like the IRS to punish its opponents, this is not the kind of thing, as far as I’m concerned, that is a Democrat or Republican issue. This is an American issue. This is an issue that threatens all of our liberty, all or our freedom.”
Blitzer, however, wasn’t satisfied: “But to make the comparison, Dr. Carson, to Nazi Germany, the slaughter of six million Jews by the Nazis, the devastation that erupted in Europe and around the world to the United States of America, I want you to reflect on what that means.”
“Well, again, you are just focusing on the words Nazi Germany and completely missing the point,” Carson replied. “And that’s the problem right now, that’s what PC-ism is all about: You may not say this word regardless of what your point is because if you say that word, you know, I go into a tizzy. We can do better than that.”
“We need to get to the point where we can look beyond the word, and look for the meaning,” he said, adding that he had no intention of revising his remarks.
Yes dammit, stop focusing on the actual words that Ben Carson is saying and try to instead derive the meaning of what he would have said if he had used entirely different words.
How hard is that?
By the way this is the guy that is currently leading the polls as a potential Republican presidential candidate if Mitt Romney's wife refuses to let him run again.
Of course that is all bullshit because I think that we all know that sometime before 2016 the conservatives are going to realize that he is black. And you may not have heard but they REALLY don't like black people.
As if the racist assholes would ever elect this guy POTUS. Dream on mister. I don't care what outlandish sellout bullshit he spews these pigs will never support this guy.
ReplyDeleteHe gets to be their token minority, like "Herb" Cain was last time around. Once I would have said Rubio and Cruz also fell into that category, but they seem like serious contenders now. Apparently being just pale enough to "pass" for white, and belonging to a population that even the Repubs have to admit is a formidable voting bloc, helps, although it will be interesting to see if they actually allow either Rubio or Cruz to appear on the ticket.
DeleteEuropean looking Cubans are honorary whites (or something.) Pudgy boy Rubio, not so much - and that vowel ending last name!!!!! I've seen many RWNJs who think Cruz is spelled like Tom Cruise.
DeleteI wanna know exactly what the meaning behind the words "Nazi Germany" IS to Ben Carson, because Wolf defined it pretty well.

Be prepared by all the cons to answer how we are being racist for not supporting a wingnut like Dr. Ben Carson.
ReplyDeleteWell when the Democrats insult African Americans for choosing to support another party than theirs by 'Uncle Tom-ing' them, or calling them tokens... it is pretty racist. I'd be insulted if I were a person of color, and was expected to vote for a certain party every time just because a bunch of white people felt that I shouldn't make up my own mind based on my values and politics. I'm independent by the way.
DeleteGood for you?
DeleteCarson alleges that most Germans disagreed with Hitler but didn't bother to say anything about it.
ReplyDeleteMr./Dr. Carson: please provide proof. Did the millions of German soldiers fight under duress? Did the millions of German voters miscast their ballots when they voted for Hitler? Ridiculous analogy. Just because the wing nuts aren't winning, Caron says they whole country is being duped by our President.
My anti-Hitler grandmother's family saw all their sons (and my grandfather) sent to the front lines for their politics. None of them survived more than a few weeks. Why don't you study some history before mouthing off?
DeleteI am pretty certain that that idiot Carson has no idea that Blitzer was born in Germany to Holocaust survivors and that his grandparents were killed in the Holocaust.
ReplyDeleteYou're focusing on words and not what he meant, What you're hearing didn't mean what you thought it did. Good shell game, huh? You're wrong if you're wrong and your've got a hearing/comprehension problem if you;re right.
Delete"“We need to get to the point where we can look beyond the word, and look for the meaning,” he said, adding that he had no intention of revising his remarks."

What an utter moron:
"Let's see, people are confused by what I said. So, I can choose different words so that my meaning is clear (because, you fucking dunce, words have meaning). Because it is important to me that people be very clear on where I stand and what I mean, and what my views are.
But I won't. Because people listening to me should be able to "look beyond my words and look for the meaning."
But then, because all I said was lalala, followed by telling them to figure out what I meant, they all claim to have misunderstood me.
Why don't other people accept that it is their responsibility to look beyond the lazy, incoherent, ill-chosen words I say to figure out what in hell's fancy fuck I mean?
And then I will accuse them of putting words in my mouth. Because I am a raving loon and a lying ass republican hypocrite."
Yep, he is a token....like pizza guy, he will get inflated poll numbers so it looks like there's black support for the GOP, but it ain't going to work, just like last time
ReplyDeleteI can hardly believe Carson is in the lead in the polls. Personally, I don't believe Carson has a chance in hell of being nominated by the Republican Party. For one, there's too many people in the Republican Party who are racist and won't vote for another black President. Then there are others who will only vote for him to prove to themselves they are not a racist. It's also strange for me to hear an African American say some of the stuff he says. It's like he has totally abandoned African Americans and their plight in todays society. It seems to me he has only his own best interests in mind, and not his family members and those of his own race.
ReplyDeleteDr. Ben Carson is leading GOP 2016 poll because he is the ONLY declared candidate at this time officially vying for the nomination!

“The fact that our government is using instruments of government like the IRS to punish its opponents"
ReplyDeleteTo his credit, he does lie and pander like the rest of them on the right. He knows how to talk to the people of "the party of stupid."
“I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.”
ReplyDeleteMy aunt and uncle had that on a little plaque in their kitchen. I've always taken it to mean, "I don't know what I'm talking about, but you should pay attention."
I'm waiting for this fatherless former ghetto welfare baby/child/teen/student to go after black people for needing welfare. It'll happen.
ReplyDeleteIOKIYAR
Watching all these Republicans supposedly thinking about running for POTUS is going to interesting and/or funny - AGAIN.
ReplyDeleteNone of them (whichever one selected) will beat Hillary Clinton - no way, no how - and, they know it.
I so hope she runs! We need both Clintons in the White House and continued Democratic leadership!
Years ago a friend and former employee of mine had extensive spinal surgery performed by Carson. She has severe Spina Bifida, and the surgery has allowed her to become a special ed teacher and work with children like herself.
ReplyDeletePrior to the surgery, she was in constant pain, had pressure sores that would not heal, and had extremely limited mobility, even with a wheelchair. Today, she competes in several wheelchair sports, and is engaged to an athlete she met during competition.
I used to have tremendous respect for Carson based on what he did for my friend. Now it pains me to listen to some of the garbage he spews, and to know that such a brilliant and gifted man could be so ignorant and hateful.
"You're letting words affect you despite what you just heard"
ReplyDeleteBless his Mama's heart, I'm sure she tried to excape being seen with Dr Carlson in public, but she let words affect her.
"PC ism"? Yes, Dr Carlson, words matter. I think this man is exposing way too much ignorance to hold office. We need an interpreter to find out what his words mean, and that's a total waste of taxpayer money. A doctor against Obamacare despite the fact that it's working better than they expected? Don't pee on my leg, Doctor, then tell me it's raining.
Props to Wolf, not usually a fan, but he asked the right questions and stuck to the topic.
I wish Wolf had asked the most important question: Hey, Bennie, you do support white resentment, right?
ReplyDeleteCan you just imagine his word salad answer to that? :)
Ben Carson was considered one of the top U.S. neurosurgeons, famously operating on children's brains. Now, will someone please take a peak inside this guys head and see what's inside!? I think we may find he's running on crazy...
ReplyDeleteI don't care if Dr. Carson is a brilliant surgeon; he's a horrible human being. What a rude, condescending prick!
