Morality is not determined by the church you attend nor the faith you embrace. It is determined by the quality of your character and the positive impact you have on those you meet along your journey

Something sweet to start the morning.
Real men don't hit women, something even a child knows to be true.
Such a perfect way to start the day. What gorgeous, smart, sweet young men who clearly have an understanding of what is honorable and right.
I do have to wonder though how this experiment would differ when applied to other cultures, countries. I wonder how the results may differ in certain mentalities in say the US, or India, or Africa or, well, there are many that struggle with violence against women.
I love that they refused to strike her, it disturbs me that they thought nothing of reaching out to touch her without her permission. Not trying to be a downer, truly.
Off-topic, here's something sweet for your morning: http://www.upworthy.com/there-were-too-many-deer-in-the-forest-so-they-unleashed-the-wolves-without-any-idea-what-would-happen?c=huf1
I was glad to see the boys knew intrinsically that it was wrong to strike her, but I too was disturbed that not one of them thought to greet her, nor ask her permission to touch her. The boys, although sweet, behaved as if she were an object.
The part that I see that was wrong is how sexist this video is: "I can't hit her because she is a girl." --implying that she is weak and defenseless rather than "I can't hit her because she is a person." because of course it is wrong for any person to strike another person.
Great little film. However, it must be said that Italians are a very touchy-feely people and this is expressed in many different ways, from cheek-kissing to schoolgirls holding hands with their best friend. It's best not to apply American standards - which are not universal, btw - to other cultures. bls
I loved it, not only for the message it sends, but the hope it gave me that things have changed for the better for women in Italy. They weren't always treated with this much respect. To truly appreciate it, you have to experience it for yourself. I have property and dual citizenship (It needs a ton of work because it's been abandoned for at least 70 years, but I can't bring myself to sell it or rent it out),
Thank you for a heart warming post on a very chilly morning.
ReplyDeleteThank you. Brought tears and smiles. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteReal men don't pimp women and children. Got that Palins?

I would also like to see it with girls being asked to slap boys. I would hope this lesson goes both ways, even boys slapping other boys.
DeleteBut it is a great start, and those children are so very cute.

Thank you for that. Someone raised those children well.

DeleteI'm sorry for you, that you see the poo rather than the pony in this video.
DeleteOh, dear, that brought tears to my eyes...
ReplyDeleteIn remembrance of my dear late husband, who was a real man. He honored and protected all the women he ever knew, especially me.

No one should hit anyone.
