Bill O'Reilly does the bidding of ISIS and declares that America is in a holy war with Islam.

Last night, Fox News' Bill O'Reilly finally gave ISIS what it wants: a declaration that the West and Middle East are, indeed, in a holy war. 

In a segment titled, “The Holy War Begins,” O'Reilly used the recent murders of 21 Egyptian Coptic Christians to slam President Obama's approach to ISIS, and quoted a list of religious leaders, including Roman Catholic Cardinal Timothy Dolan, who warned that ISIS threatens “civilization, everything that is decent and noble about humanity. It is a worldwide crisis that cannot, must not, be ignored.” 

O'Reilly then ran through the gamut of this week's right-wing complaints about Obama. 
These ranged from critiques of the State Department's Marie Harf's statement that ISIS cannot be defeated solely with military means, to a bizarre critique that the White House somehow did not recognize that the 21 Egyptians murdered by terrorists were Christian. He concluded with the statement that “the Holy War is here and unfortunately it seems the president will be the last one to acknowledge it.”

As Alternet points out this is the culmination of weeks of frothing at the mouth from Fox News hosts and commentators.

Which is easily demonstrated by one of the head mouth frothers, Todd Starnes: 

You know - the world would be a much safer place if the Obama administration hated Islamic extremists as much as they do Fox News.

And then there's Franklin Graham:  

"His mother was married to a Muslim, his father was a Muslim. Then she married a man from Indonesia. He was raised in Indonesia. Went to Islamic schools. I assume she was a Muslim," Graham said. "So his whole life, his experiences have been surrounded by Islam. He only knows Islam. And he has given a pass to Islam. He is refusing to understand the evil that is in front of him." 

You know the President has been very careful to choose his words in order to condemn that acts of these men while not condemning the religion they hide behind.

Which is just what he did again yesterday: 

President Barack Obama, speaking at his summit on countering violent extremism Wednesday, sought to strike a balance between appealing for more acceptance of Muslim-Americans while emphasizing the need to remain vigilant against radicals who could turn violent. 

"We are not at war with Islam. We are at war with people who have perverted Islam," Obama said during his remarks, adding later that Muslim leaders "need to do more to discredit the notion that our nations are determined to suppress Islam." 

Obama went to lengths before the summit began to avoid linking extremism to the Muslim faith; his intent, aides say, was to avoid giving credence to the ideologies of Islamic State or al Qaeda terrorists.

Look as all of you well know I have been aggressively critical of ALL religions on this blog, and I really do think that currently followers of Islam seem to be the most easily directed toward violence in the world.

However what O'Reilly and Fox News are doing is unconscionable in that it plays right into the hands of a group of people who are desperate to create the idea of a war between Christians and Muslims in order to help with recruitment and to justify terrorists acts.

It seems to me that these agitators could care less if their rhetoric results in the deaths of more American soldiers, prolongs the conflict with ISIS, or inspires terrorist attacks in America.

All they care about is pandering to the fears of their base, and attempting to undermine the President's attempts to approach these complicated issues like a grown up.

Personally I think that if Todd Starnes, Franklin Graham, and Bill O'Reilly are so anxious to start a holy war that we need to outfit them with a crucifix, a rifle, and a Bible and send their flabby asses to the front line where they can all become martyrs for the cause.
