Courtesy of Roll Call:
Remember this recent story about the Pentagon’s Viagra budget of more than $500,000 last year? The Military Times threw some shade on it with its own reporting, which put the tally at $41.6 million, and $84.2 million on erectile dysfunction drugs overall.
Then there’s this:
And since 2011, the tab for drugs like Viagra, Cialis and Levitra totals $294 million — the equivalent of nearly four U.S. Air Force F-35 Joint Strike Fighters.
Okay in my earlier write up there were a few of you who argued that the five hundred thousand was not that bad considering that some of these medications were for elderly veterans.
So now I have to ask, do you feel the same now that it's 41.6 million?
Men's erections should NOT be catered to! Total baloney! It's the cycle of life that they lose usage of their penises - much like women w/menopause.
ReplyDelete6:19? That is so WRONG it is funny. SOME men suffer ED, but there is almost always medical reason for it. High blood pressure and its treatment are near the top of the list.
DeleteDoes that mean I agree with spending 41+ million dollars on the drugs to "get them up"? Only if they also provide birth control for the female military personnel we have.
How about it Gryphen? Any info on THAT?
I would suggest that 6:19 AM is correct when you look at the process and results of aging in both men and women.
DeleteAn illness and drugs can cause a man not to be able to obtain an erection which is also true.
Is sex really that important to one and all? I don't think so! Especially as you become a senior. Most women could care less about having sex with an elderly man be he a husband or friend!
Well 8:45, if you are going to play that game, most guys could care less about doing the deed with an old woman. But there are plenty of younger women having relationships with older men.
DeleteIf the genders were treated equally in reproductive organ matters, this would still raise my eyebrows... however, since they are not treated equally at all, this totally pisses me off.
ReplyDeleteMust be the part of the defence budget that's classified.
ReplyDeleteHow many schools could benefit from that money? Or run down infrastructure? Or homes for homeless vets?
ReplyDeleteI hope these drugs are only going to married service members and vets, right?
ReplyDeleteUnless that is a snark, I ask you this: WHY?
DeleteWhy? Because the greatest lncrease in STDs is among middle aged men using these drugs to visit hookers.
Delete7:42 AM
Delete" the greatest lncrease in STDs is among middle aged men using these drugs to visit hookers."
Do you have a link proving that statement? Or is it just off-the-wall BS?
It is obviously off the wall BS. These posts by gryph really bring out the man hating crowd.
DeleteYou would like links? How about Rush Limbaugh *returning* from the Dominican Republic (noted for its underage male prostitutes) with 29 Viagra tablets? How many did he smuggle down with him?
Delete"Rush Limbaugh could see a deal with prosecutors in a long-running prescription fraud case collapse after authorities found a bottle of Viagra in his bag at Palm Beach International Airport. The prescription was not in his name."

Sex tourism is a big business in the DR... even bigger if you bring fistfuls of little blue pills.
I endorse these for wounded veterans.
ReplyDeleteIf any otherwiser-fit oldsters need some assistance, they can buy it at their own pharmacy with their own generous paychecks/pensions.
More than $40 million would buy a lot of school lunches.
for any ignorant person who falsely accuses people of being shallow

This is just ridiculous. I want someone to answer me just why this med is free for some and not for all? And, is this drug produced/manufactured in the US? Also, must a doctor prescribe this med or is this available at the local PX.............
ReplyDeleteIt would be a windfalll for a service member to purchase and then resell....yah gotta wonder.
Yes, I do. My brother is an army shrink. Almost every psych drug causes ED. Guys quit taking their meds because of that, and then they commit suicide.
ReplyDeleteThis country elected Bush-Cheney, then stupidly allowed itself to be lied into a costly, unnecessary war. The defense INDUSTRY got rich; young men went to war and got their lives messed up. This is the cost of trying to put right what we did wrong. Do you know how much one little plane costs?
I agree, but the drugs affect women's sexual feelings as well, and I wonder how they're being treated for it?
DeleteBoth my husband and I are veterans, he has PTSD and still gets it up because he has taken care of his body.
DeleteNo way should tax payers be paying for men's sex life, it is NOT medically necessary any more than sex is for women.
If your brother is blaming all suicides on their sex lifes then I hope he is removed from his position so veterans can actually get the help they need.
Are you a doctor 8:45? I didn't think so, are all PTSD the same? You know do you? So STFU.
Delete@anon at 11:28am
DeleteWhy don't you STFU
And too bad most PTSD sufferers don't have a better shrink than your brother, who seems to be more worried about their erections than their flashbacks.
8:45 wins!
DeleteSpeaking of impotent men, turns out old Bill O over at Fox has been embellishing his battle-cred as well:

Re-selling ED drugs to friends can supplement military pay.
ReplyDeleteTrack Palin must be a wealthy man.
DeleteYes, I do. My brother is an army shrink. Almost every psych drug causes ED. Guys quit taking their meds because of that, and then they commit suicide.
ReplyDelete------------------------
I think that is an excellent reason. I can only hope they give as much attention (and benefits) to the female soldiers i.e. rape victims, abortion availability and counseling.
Mildred
BS they commit suicide for many reasons, but not over an erection. Also they are free to go and get it on their own.
DeleteAs fr rape counseling in the services, it's more of "if you report your career is done" and there is NO counseling for those who hdo report, most of the time their rapist isn't even moved away from them.
8:40, we get it, you hate the men that protect your ass. You also don't know anything about the medical field or the military.
Delete@anon at 11:40am
DeleteI am a Viet Nam vet, and while I was unarmed I served as an RN in a damned field hospital in the jungles for 3 yrs. You would be hard pressed to get any male Viet Nam vet to say that we didn't do our duty to them. I also don't hate my Dad, my husband, my son, my nephews, or my nieces that served.
US Army Major Ret Served in Nam from 69' to 72' served in the US Army from 69' to 79'
So fuck you.
@1:21- did you actually read 8:40's post?
DeleteI suspect this says a lot more about the gouging being perpetrated by Big Pharma than it does about anything else. Several years ago, Viagra was $10 per pill. The latest price I've heard was $25. Looking only at raw numbers w/out any further information about who's receiving them and why, and what the Pentagon is spending per dose, is not going to produce anything useful. If more detailed info becomes available, I'll be surprised if the Pentagon's shoddy acquisition process isn't the major problem. If they're buying ED meds in high quantity, they have the leverage to almost dictate what they'll pay. Big Pharma spends more on marketing than on research, and none of that cost should be applied to sales to the gov't.
ReplyDeleteYES YES YES... all the rest is interesting, but less than important. The U.S. government uses tax dollars to support some sectors of the DRUG industry, which other wise might fold -- remember how many public dollars are spent on drugs... when there may be other options... as for this particular application.... it's hard to keep men interested in war and weapons and surviving... making it a bit erotic might help them forget what they are actually there for... to destroy... (They still come back wounded in body and mind.. I know, I lived it as the child of a WWII Vet.)
DeleteIs Track Palin hiding again? He may have a 4 hour or longer erection.
ReplyDeleteWhy did the Pentagon stop writing Track's propaganda?
Sarah and the fraud family need help more than ever. I hear she quit her web channel deal and that sporty America show was not amazing, it really stinks. Also, too, proof that she is nothing about the outdoors. Unless you count that wild hogs do her hair.
Being the together family with the fake outdoor scenes and dressing up in all those Ski-doo duds with BIG LABELS, we can't wait to see them all in Anchorage supporting the National Guard and Iron Dog.
No wonder Todd cheats, it's a long tough race.
http://www.irondog.org/event-info/iron-dog-start-information/
This year he had to go to Las Vegas to save Sarah.

Where are they hiding Track?
The number one argument from rabid misogynists for not wanting to provide birth control is "Why should I pay for her sexytime?" I will now throw right back at them "for the same reason I should be paying for HIS sexytime!"
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to hear Rush call all these guys "sluts."
DeleteTotally ridiculous, of course the people approving the budget for these drugs are men so I am not surprised.
ReplyDeleteI would like to know if the women are required to pay for their own birth control, do they need a note from their husbands/boyfriends/fathers or is it banded because it promotes promiscuity in the military and "these sluts" would be distracting the men?
The US military pays for some birth control, they pay for a few kinds of the pill and if , like a good percentage of women, you need another one then you are on your own. The also pay for just one or two types of IUDs, if they don't work, then again you are on your own.
DeleteHow do I feel about it?! The same way I feel about the $50 BILLION cost for the government shutdown!
ReplyDeleteGovernment is not allowed for paying for women's healthcare and birth control, but it IS allowed (and even encouraged!) to pay for MEN'S erectile disfunctions - for men, who could not 'get it up' w/o the drug, but thanks to it now can do it - and potentially RAPE women who are not allowed to prevent pregnancies from the rape.
Nice to hear from you man hating lesbian.
Delete8:25 AM You are probably a white, elderly, fat, Republican male that is a total asshole! I agree with 8:10 AM and doubt seriously the writer is a lesbian!
DeleteGo take your Viagra and play with yourself as I doubt there is a woman out there that would want you!
Hate has nothing to do with some men's erectile disfunction, their own poor health does. Many men just need to accept that after a certain age they should concentrate on woodworking or something else.
DeleteWomen love me 8:34. Real women that is. Real women that know how to be women, and can't stand man haters like yourself.
DeleteLove how you immediately point fingers at all men as rapists 8:10. Go fuck yourself, no-one else will. The world hates mean ugly man hating women, so enjoy your bitter life.
Delete8:25 doesn't understand how leaving out commas and dashes can really change the meaning of the sentence.
DeleteLet me translate. By "real women" 8:43am means all the little ladies that realize that he, as a man, is a superior specimen and that they, being inferior creatures, must lay down and spread their legs for him anytime he snaps his fingers.
DeleteLol, sounds like 8:25 REALLY needs those little blue pills!
DeleteYou idiots worship Obama, government, free shit for everybody, socialism, communism, facism, and every other idiotic 'ism' out there. Quite your damn whining about a measly $40 million or billion going to your next greatest love, Big Pharma, killer dtugs and vaccines. Tell Obama to spend more so you can get even more free shit.
ReplyDeleteWhy did the Pentagon stop writing Track's propaganda?
DeleteIt cost too much money! They needed more Viagra.
How much of the $84.2 million of Viagra is prescribed to Congressmen?
DeleteAn inmate from the Alex Jones Insane Asylum has escaped.
Delete8:13 -- So much hate, so little sense.
Delete8:13 You're slipping, boy. You forgot Marxism. No soup for you! Now get da fuk outa here before you get hurt. It's so easy to make you little pussy boys cry.
DeleteIsn't that so cute? A whining whiner popping in to whine and accuse others of whining.
You paper tigers are all alike, your roar is much worse than your bite. Here kitty, kitty............
If a serviceman didn't have money, would they get a prescription for Viagra and sell them. I wonder how of the $84.2 million sold?
ReplyDeleteI think this is a big street drug that is being hidden
DeleteIf a servicewoman wanted a prescription for Viagra can she get it? Why not?
ReplyDeleteWomen love sex too so why can't servicewomen get Viagra for their husbands and boyfriends and enjoy sex like the servicemen?
I'm not playing around, I'm serious!
If servicewomen can't get it then NOBODY GETS IT!
That is sexual discrimination if servicewomen are deprived of Viagra.
Actually woman can take viagra, though most gyns are loath to prescribe such a dangerous drug without it being medically necessary, but it is NOT covered for female vets.
DeleteWomen love sex too.
DeleteBristol Palin should have joined the service and she would could have gotten a prescription for Viaga and she could have been enjoying big boners from her one night stands.
I would like to point out that viagra is NOT covered for female veterans. Viagra for women? You think I'm nuts? I'm not, it can be prescribed for women with very low sex drives also ( not that any self respecting OB/Gyn would prescribe such a dangerous drug just willy nilly).
ReplyDeleteSo there ya go, it's all about men's hardons, which are not medically necessary.
Those little blue pills looks familiar. Are they the same little blue pills Bristol used to give to her male friends in high school ? You know her Cramp Pills?
ReplyDeleteShailey did Todd take Viagra when he had sex with you so he could get his little pecker up?
ReplyDeleteOf course not! But I had to with my idiot of a wife!
DeleteO/T, but too ironic to pass up. Suddenly, North Dakota GOP sound like atheists:
ReplyDeleteWe shouldn't be forced to listen to a prayer we don't agree with!
Of course, not a snowball's chance in hell they'll hear their own message.

ReplyDeleteYes, Let's Talk About 'Upbringing,' Rudy
Rudy Giuliani keeps digging:
Former Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani of New York on Thursday defended his assertion that President Obama did not love America, and said that his criticism of Mr. Obama’s upbringing should not be considered racist because the president was raised by “a white mother.”
... In an interview with The New York Times, Mr. Giuliani dismissed the criticism and said he was describing the worldview that had shaped Mr. Obama’s upbringing.
“Some people thought it was racist -- I thought that was a joke, since he was brought up by a white mother, a white grandfather, went to white schools, and most of this he learned from white people,” Mr. Giuliani said in the interview. “This isn’t racism. This is socialism or possibly anti-colonialism.”
So "most of this he learned from white people," according to Giuliani? Obama learned anti-Americanism from relatives, including his grandparents?....
.....Barack Obama's grandfather fought in World War II.
Rudy Giuliani's [father] was barred from military service because he was a felon.
Yeah, maybe Giuliani's right. Maybe we really are formed by the character of the people who raised us.
http://crooksandliars.com/2015/02/yes-lets-talk-about-upbringing-rudy
I had a theory that the Bush Administration with all its 'swinging d***s' foreign policy maneuvers was fueled by Viagra. Remember that it was Bob Dole who first legitimized it, in 1998, by participating in its advertisements.
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine the atmosphere in the Republican Old Boys drinking holes and country clubs around the country, all egging each other on to try it? did it not seem that suddenly the White House and Pentagon were awash in a toxic smog of testosterone?
Ff the medical records of those who took us into Iraq and Afghanistan ever become available, I hope someone is still around who remembers to check what medications they were taking!
This makes me so god damned mad. If you want the v pill, buy it yourself!!!!!! Effers!
ReplyDeleteSince computers are a waking fact of life. I should say my tax dollars, none of it go to the v pill! And see that it doesnt, just like elections!
ReplyDeleteED in older men just might be God's way of saying "Get a hobby"!
ReplyDeleteThis is a "just wrong" use of public money. I'm disgusted. Curious Pfeifer didn’t see the blowback coming on this one.
ReplyDeleteSomething is terribly wrong with the military budget and after care for veterans. Getting Viagra should be the least of their problems. Don't forget the military ignores many troubled veterns after they return from battle. Eddie Ray Routh was a psyche mess and that idiot that was treating him knew absolutley nothing about his problems, yet that was the after care that Routh received.
ReplyDeleteYou remember Dakota Meyers?
http://i1.wp.com/powderedwigsociety.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/palin.jpg?resize=550%2C413
It looks like he has hit a new low on the stupid scale. He is almost 27 years old. You would think a medal of honor winner would have a life and spend his time doing what men do.
Not dakotameyer0317. He actually has time to follow and comment on the 25 year old preteen vanity enjoygram social media for Bristol Palin, bsmp2.
They want to make Bristol look happy, sexy and popular. May be Sarah gave him a heads up to add a comment to the lonely Bristol's enjoygram. I hope he isn't as lost as he appears. Sarah, Track send him send Dakota some Viagra.
He is not a teen and shouldn't be acting or be treated like one.
The money would be better off spend on education or prosthetics.
DeleteAs a 100% service connected disabled female veteran, I had to fight for three years to get HRT. And men just walk in and ask for Viagra or one of the other erection pills. One part of my disability is "loss of use of a creative organ", or in other words, I had to have a hysterectomy at the age of 20, due to endometrial cancer because of being exposed to radiation in the Army...
