Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee called President Barack Obama’s speech at the National Prayer Breakfast — in which Obama brought up Christians’ misdeeds during the Crusades — “nothing short of shocking” and accused the president on Monday of coddling the Muslim community.
“Everything he does is against what Christians stand for, and he’s against the Jews in Israel,” Huckabee said on “Fox and Friends.” “The one group of people that can know they have his undying, unfailing support would be the Muslim community.”
Huckabee, a potential 2016 presidential hopeful, made his comments after Obama on Thursday caused an uproar in the Christian community by saying in regard to Islamic extremists’ atrocities in Iraq and Syria, “lest we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place, remember that during the Crusades and the Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ.”
Huckabee called the remarks “absolutely stunning” and said, “This president has a high horse himself: It’s his TelePrompTer.”
Seriously? What a load of crap.
You know when the President directs a drone strike his targets are exclusively Muslim. Which makes me think that the Muslims around the world may not feel they have President Obama's "undying support."
I think the President is trying to demonstrate that he treats people of ALL religious faiths equally, and favors none over any other, despite his personal religious faith.
Which of course is as it should considering that America is a melting pot made up of various ethnicities and religious backgrounds.
However the President is also sending the message that if you wish to cause harm to the United States, you are our enemy regardless of which God you choose to worship.
What I get from Huckabee's statement is that he feels Christianity should be considered the state religion, and that Christians should be favored over all others, even if they do wrong.
And that is why he should NEVER be elected President of this country.
Ever!
Huckleberry draws some of the same supporters Palin draws and those are people who have prison gang "88" tattoos.
ReplyDeleteAsk the peaponders what that tattoo means if you're unsure.
"88" refers to 88 words from Mein Kompf (author Adolph Hitler) about the supremacy of the white race.
DeleteSource: urbandictionary.com
The history of humankind: one tribe is better than another, and will fight to the death to protect land and families from the attacks of those who think they're better and better-armed than they are.
DeleteWhy, in our modern day, can't we accept that different groups are different -- not better -- than another? White supremacy has been the engine that's fueled many of the most hateful episodes in U.S. history.
As I wrote a few days ago, the hatred and mocking of the Obama family is caused partly because their very existence disproves the idea that whites are better than are minorities.
If one's sense of self is based on the need to be one rung ahead of the others, this must be so threatening as to be almost unbearable.
Witness, the deification of a numbskull like Sarah Palin. Slogan: "At least she's white!"
How can the white supremacists in our midst deal with the fact that Sarah married a "mongel" and that most of her children are mutts as well. She's not all-white, and is consorting with a "lesser breed." By rights, she should be drummed out of the tea party and all other wing nut politics that believe that white makes right.
DeleteWho would most people of intelligence prefer as neighbors, Obamas or Palins?? No contest, the Obamas win EVERY time.
DeleteIf the Palins were my neighbors, I'd tell my kids to stay away from their kids. They are the definition of the bad element.
DeleteHe's a great friend of Muslims, of course. I mean, I've spent a couple trillion dollars bombing my friends, too.
ReplyDeletelol...I find it funny that EVERYONE keeps bring up the Middle Ages...the Middle East...I smell a rat!
DeleteFirst we listen to Sarah bark about the Middle East..
We listen to Obama bark about the Middle Ages...
Remember now...Palin said no such thing as coincidence...shrug...what goes around comes around! that should be some live entertainment in itself...now go bellow in your bourbon already...lol...
If not for physical differences and gender. Huck and sarah are one and the same. They want to be the boss of me.
ReplyDeleteHuckabee might worse,if that is even possible?
Huckabee is worse, because he's smarter than Sarah is, and much, much cannier. They're both odious, of course.
DeleteI'm reminded of the nativist, jingoistic, "christian" preachers who've been around for so much of our country's history. They fed off the ignorance and isolation of mostly country folk.
ReplyDeleteNowadays, these charlatans have the internet, and Fox "news" to spread their message. I think their followers are fewer than it would appear, from all this publicity. But there's no need to hitch up a wagon to go hear the preacher at a tent revival for three days now, and all this publicity may allow these narrow people to join together in ways they never had available before.
Huckabee, one hopes, knows that he's lying.
The 18th and 19th century saw bitter, ad hominem political attacks. Much of it was sent underground in the 20th century, to the Ku Klux Klan and other marginal groups. Now it's resurfaced, as virulent and benighted as ever.
Anon @ 6:54... well said!
DeleteWho cares what Huckabee says? He is too stupid to ever develop a large base.
ReplyDelete.
Huckabee/Palin 2016 Dumb/Dumber
Both are in it for the money. Huckerbee's family is as greedy as Palins. He had a Pac that paid relatives over $400,000 so of course they all want to keep THAT grift going. He is another fake Christian.
DeleteMike Huckabee Wants Every American To Be ‘Forced At Gun Point’ To Learn From Radical Christian Taliban "Historian' David Barton
ReplyDeleteA former Texas GOP official, David Barton is a “Christian historical revisionist” who contends that “the United States of America is a Christian nation” and the separation of church and state is a “liberal myth.”
He is also one of the most radical Tenthers in the country who believes the federal highway system is unconstitutional.
So radical was his view that even the Tenth Amendment Center disavowed his federal highway theory.

http://thinkprogress.org/politics/2011/03/31/154984/mike-huckabee-david-barton/
Do you mean the Federal highway system named for that known Muslim terrorist, Dwight D. Eisenhower?
DeleteThe Federal highway system was built for two purposes: security -- troops and arms could quickly be moved around the country in case of invasion; and economics.
DeleteLuckily, we have not needed it for security. But our country would not be the economic powerhouse it became after the war without the means to transport raw materials and finished products all over the country, and to ports and airports in all 50 states.
Without it, we would be far behind most European nations, would never have won the Cold War with Russia, and would have the capacity to become the dominant country on the planet.
Think of state roads, with stop lights or two lanes, linking from one state border to another, trying to move goods and people from one coast to another.
Or was the Union Pacific Railroad unconstitutional as well?
Off topic.
ReplyDeleteThe Iowa Nut cutter is proud to be what she isn't.
http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2015/02/joni-ernst-says-she-earned-the-right-to-call-herself-a-combat-veteran-despite-never-seeing-combat/
One of my dad's WWII ex-prisoner-of-war friends urged my dad to come his VA group therapy. My dad, telling me about it said, "I can't even talk to him about combat, he was in combat for 3 hours and got captured." My dad did 4 parachute jumps into enemy territory, plus some other assaults and position holding, purple heart etc., then captured. And men from my father's outfit when on to many more months of combat.
DeleteSome WWII veterans spent months under fire but many people that were in combat zones had little to no direct contact with the enemy. I think the term "combat veteran" means whatever the person using it wants it to mean.
But, I can tell you that people that have been under fire for many, many days tend to not use that term. When my dad was asked what he did in WWII, he'd just quietly say "I killed people".
I was a child in the UK during the bombing of Liverpool. I have likely "seen more combat" than some of those people. We had to run out to the underground air raid shelter when the sirens started. I remember sitting there listening to bombs whistling down. Some landed pretty close, and my mother would say "That was a close one" Wars never solved anything.
DeleteHuckabee has no shame. Believe it when I say that he does NOT represent Christians I know. Everything he said regarding President Obama's words is twisted and created to elicit hatred for the President and Muslims.
ReplyDelete"The one group of people that can know they have his undying, unfailing support would be the Muslim community". Doesn't Huckabee know that the One he says he follows would give his unfailing undying support to the Muslim community?
And, there are christian sites out there that write about this new right-wing politicized christianism, that is an offshoot from true christianity. The reason their voice isn't heard, is because they don't get the attention, because they are perceived as wimps, weak, too nice, too politically correct, sentimental, sympathetic, compassionate, and aren't worthy of a voice because they aren't war mongrels.
If there was ever to be a 'persecution' among us from this vile bunch, it would be, yes, atheists, homosexuals, pagans, environmentalists, liberals, and the christian community. The christians who mind their own business and try to keep the peace are condemned as unproductive to their cause, and seen as dangerous to their cause, because their cause is about worshipping self, greed, power, guns and oil and territory.
Someone should get rid of Huckabee! He's doing nothing more than spread lies, fear and hate.
DeleteWe have to remember that he and Palin only have a minority following them! The majority in America are no longer Christian due to the likes of folks like them! They don't preach love and kindness - they preach evil, hate and discrimination!
Stop the Sedition. He's our President, and some of us are Muslims. Some of us are Black and some of us are Women. Most of us haven't been to "church" on any regular basis in our entire lives, let alone lately.
ReplyDeleteIf President and Michelle Obama are such great Muslims, why did she not wear the head scarf in the Middle East? Could it possibly be because it would have been such a great photo op for Huckabee and his USA hating friends? Why would she rather insult the entire Middle East than pander to the Right Wing foolishness? Because the Right Wing has no sense of reason whatsoever - only a sense of hatred for everyone, including themselves.
How do people like Huckabee explain Catholic priests and pedophilia?
ReplyDelete-Oz
La la la la la....
DeleteDid you hear something?
La la la la la....
Or the troubles on Northern Ireland, Anonymous @8:19 AM?
DeleteJennifer K
Huckabee and others like him don't think Catholics are real Christians.
DeleteThe President has my friends, family and my undying support. Imagine how surprised we were to discover we were Muslims!
ReplyDeleteAND we are Muslims in Oklahoma! Shocking to say the least...
Huckster is why churches are bleeding the young (And old) right out of their churches. They are almost at the point of hemorrhaging themselves into obscurity.
I too, was shocked, shocked I tell you to learn that I was a Muslim. I woke up a liberal Christian, and just like that, I find out I'm a Muslim.
DeleteAre there classes available for those of us who have arbitrarily had our religions changed? Is there a grace period during which we can finish off all the non-halal foods?
So much to learn when a third-rate huckster (see what I did there!) decides to up and change the religion of millions of Americans.
Same goes for me and my family too.
DeleteI wish that Huckabee and the rest of them would simply grow up. They should be talking about issues - like addressing income inequality in this country and around the world and climate change solutions - not making up stories about President Obama, who has done absolutely nothing to encourage their lies.
Beaglemom
8:32? You think YOU were surprised? Hell, I thought I was an ATHEIST! Was I ever surprised to find out I wasn't, but instead was a Muslim!
DeleteJust like Palin, he's pandering to the base of the base. I guess we'll see him posing with a glock with a cross on it sometime soon.
ReplyDeleteUm, take a look at the following if you really think Christians never attacked Muslims:
ReplyDeletehttp://www.truthbeknown.com/victims.htm
Apparently all bets are off now and these jackasses can say whatever lies they want as loudly as they can.
ReplyDeleteHuckabee is no more a Christian than am I! He's full of hate and evilness. Reminds me exactly of Sarah Palin and her ilk!
ReplyDeleteHuckabee should be captured and his mouth sewn shut. He's a fucking liar, terrorist and has done nothing but harm the USA since coming on the scene!
He will NEVER win a primary and would never be elected to serve as POTUS! And, he needs to remember that Christians are fading fast from this country. And, he and others are the reason for it. Who in their right mind would want to follow the obese asshole?
Does Huckabee know that there was a time when quite a few Muslims voted for Republican candidates? Gee, I wonder what could have made conservative Muslims feel like they are not welcome in the Republican party?
ReplyDeleteAwesome party outreach you got going on there, Mr. Prebius. At this rate, your conventions will soon be held in cemeteries.
You are so right. Muslims are traditionally a very conservative lot. The GOP should be courting them.
DeleteHuckabeef drop dead. Better yet go hunting with your friends palin and nugent. I'm sure one of those to idiots will shoot first and ask questions later. Palin: I was sure it was a moose. Nugent: I thought it was a wild boor.
ReplyDeleteHuckabee knows he'll never be president or even be a candidate. He feels safe slinging dog whistles because basically no one cares what he says except the suckers that send him money.
ReplyDeleteWhining as a career is about the best Huckabee can do with his level of intelligence.
Why doesn't this fat fucking hayseed stfu? It's not like he'll be running against President Obama. Fact of the matter is he'll never be running against anyone as he has about as much of a chance of getting the nomination as Mizz Lindsey has.
ReplyDeleteDuring the 2008 presidential campaign, Huckabee openly called for altering the constitution to bring it in line with biblical law. Here's Jonathan Turley's blog from that time:
ReplyDeleteHuckabee Calls for Constitution to Be Amended to Conform to the Word of God
There's more to the story than I usually see to explain the Southern contempt for Obama (read Southern to mean christian and white). It also explains why what we see as racist bigotry, they don't see that way at all, any more than they see bigotry in their anti-gay posture. This excerpt from Christoper Hitchens God Is Not Great is very revealing of how the same christianity that justified slavery is still the same christianity that justified slavery: "The late Senator Eugene McCarthy told me that he had once urged Senator Pat Robertson—father of the present television prophet—to support some mild civil rights legislation. “I’d sure like to help the colored,” came the response, “but the Bible says I can’t.” The entire self-definition of “the South” was that it was white, and Christian.
Further proof, as if any were needed to illustrate the point, that an asshole with a bible is still just an asshole, and how religion is more effective at justifying and fostering bad behavior than it is at reinforcing good behavior (which it never actually reinforces at all).
If Huckabee is right (???!!!) then the majority of Americans who voted for president in 2008 and 2012 are Muslim. Think about that, Huckabee, before making any more really stupid statements.
ReplyDeleteBeaglemom
So the Squirrel Eater is going to run for President? There aren't enough brain dead bible thumpers to elect him. I'm sure he's doing a good job of securing their votes, but he'd lose in a crushing landslide.
ReplyDeleteHey Suckabee,
ReplyDeleteMatthew 6:1: "Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.

Cone on Muslim stand up and say you voted for Huckabee, i bet there is one.
