Ooh why is that lady in the woods? Isn't she worried about having her family values attacked by a free roaming homosexual?
I mean if you are suddenly forced to get gay married in the woods and nobody hears you does God still double dip you in a bubbling pool of magma?
And what in the hell were all of those uptight assholes flipping out about?
(And for fun how many of them tripped your gay-dar?)
Little Green Footballs identifies the participants and their agenda:
Among the participants are Rep. Steve King, Rep. Trent Franks, Rep. Louie Gohmert, Rep. Tim Huelskamp, Sen. Rand Paul, Mike Huckabee, David Barton, James Dobson, Mat Staver, Phyllis Schlafly, Scott Lively, Alveda King, Brian Camenker, Frank Pavone, Robert Knight, John Stemberger, and, of course, Porter herself, who can been seen walking around in the woods with a lantern, warning that gay activists are seeking to turn Christians into criminals.
So to be clear gay people who want to be married and to not be discriminated against are actively attacking Christianity, and trying to silence the Gospels.
Oddly enough these are the same arguments trotted out against interracial marriage back in the 50's and 60's.
Some things never change. Especially when you take your cues from the Bible.
Mike Huckabee was in Austin yesterday at one of our local bookstores for a signing. I got there about an hour and a half after it started, not knowing that he had been scheduled to be there. ( Like, seriously, pulled up and saw "Mike Huckabee 2/5" on the marquis and thought WTF??) Anywho, walked in and ...crickets. No one there, no sign of him. Must not have lasted too long.
ReplyDelete6:25, even huckabee should be able to sign ten books in an hour - even if he has to hunch over and hold the pen like an untrained knife wielder - you know, with his tongue sticking out while he's sweating to make a proper M - and shakily print his name like a four year old.
DeleteThe write-up said Senator (Ayn) Rand Paul (R-KY) was involved in the video. He is as big a nut as there is in national politics today, but the MSM alows him to hid it.
ReplyDeleteAlso, Ayn Rand for whom he was named was an atheist, but yet he promotes his freaky Christianity.
Randal Howard Paul
DeleteDespite his father's libertarian views and strong support for individual rights, the novelist Ayn Rand was not the inspiration for his first name. Growing up, he went by "Randy", but his wife shortened it to "Rand."
That comes directly from his wiki page with a reference to an article from Cato.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rand_Paul
Whatever else he's known as ASSHOLE seems the most appropriate.
So if I say you're an unself-aware pretentious asshole absurdly obsessed with gay sex, then you're an unself-aware pretentious asshole absurdly obsessed with gay sex.
ReplyDeleteI think participation in this video just disqualified about six ELECTED GOP Congressmen from running for President. Hating and fearing a big chunk of the population (when is their anti-Muslim mockumentary airing? Their anti-working women one? Their anti-immigrant one?) disqualifies someone from holding an office that is supposed to be working for all of the people, all of the time. Plus, I thought these fools had a real job in DC? That's what we're paying them for. Impeach them all!
ReplyDeleteBut Sally, you KNOW they will swear they are not anti-gay!
DeleteWhy does it concern you? If someone proclaims his anus to be a sexual organ, does it affect you? How do we, as superior, high moraled beings, enforce a ban on hands being used as sexual organs? What about mouths? Don't get me wrong, I am all for banning everything but missionary sex (and I would limit it to once a month) and I have always thought sex outside of procreation should be outlawed. But, that is just me...and you.
ReplyDeleteIf the zealots in the Christian faith keep this up, there will be a war on Christians. I for one am growing tired of the feigned assault and victimization they are whining about.
ReplyDeleteI was raised as a Christian and I find this nonsense as offensive as the practices of some other cults and religions. Their antics may backfire on them and they may find themselves with a less tolerant society.
They are already losing a lot of their young followers. Excuse me. EX-followers!
DeleteDo they know what heterosexual couples do?
ReplyDeleteIs the next step trying to overturn Supreme Court rulings about the privacy of the bedroom?
Marriage in a church is a religious event.
Marriage certificates are issued by the government, for property and tax reasons, as well as for "romantic" ones. To deny these property and tax rights to some adults is a violations of the Fourteenth Amendment.
I don't like Mike Huckabee or any of the others listed. I wouldn't bake them a wedding cake, and would hope they wouldn't move into my neighborhood. I wouldn't attend their church and would try to have my children avoid their children.
But I wouldn't outlaw the Huckabees' right to cohabit, own property and file joint tax returns.
OMG, can this writer be any more clueless? It's like an alternate world that they live in. The way they are describing the vicious, divisive, dishonest, calculating, hateful, horrific woman from the north is like a complete flip of who and what she truly is. Boggling.

They had to, because the pees down in peeville all cried "boo hoo!" to Shenk's previous piece. Can't be havin' a mutiny, no siree!
DeleteAnd the cherry on top of the CPAC sundae? The format has changed! The speakers will have to take questions! Yay!!
DeleteThey've already insinuated that Mrs. Palin will be there as an "entertainment" speaker and thus will not have to answer questions. They have to invite her though, to drum up media coverage. A lot more media will cover a sideshow than they would a serious political conference. Sad but true.
DeleteI read a James Dobson book recently for an academic project. I grew up on a steady diet of him but had forgotten one of his most insidious and highly effective tactics: "I got a letter from a parent who said...[insert outrageous claim here about what the 'secular humanists' are doing in her community and convince readers their freedoms are under attack!!!]." He doesn't indicate whether he fact-checks these letters, nor does he mention the communities in which they originated so readers can do their own fact-checking. He offers NO PROOF to substantiate that these letters are accurate (or even, frankly, that they exist). Either this is very sloppy research--and I don't think he's that stupid--or he is very good at manipulating people while absolving himself of accountability. If the outrageous claims were to be proven false, he can say, well, he didn't know; he was just reporting what someone wrote.
ReplyDeleteMy "Christian" high school principal used that dodge all the time when he wanted to say offensive things and not be called to account. "Well, I'm not saying I think this, but SOME PEOPLE believe..."
Often, Dobson's "someone wrote me and said..." claims are so outrageous that he would have to be a naive idiot (well, okay) to believe them. And yet he passes them along to his readers, who accept them as truth because the Great Dr. Dobson wouldn't print lies.
Fuckin' scary.
Brainwashing 101.
DeleteThe one area where there MUST be relativism is sex.
ReplyDeleteEvery damn organ is potentially a sex organ.
Especially the brain.
For those who have one.
I don't see Lindsay Graham's name of the list of those who appeared in the video. Was his name just left off the list or was he not invited to the hatefest? David Barton? The guy who owns the gyms in NYC that the gay boys go to or does a RWNJ just so happen to share a name with the gym owner?
ReplyDeleteLiving on the Horn of Africa many videos are blocked so I wasn't able to watch this gem.

So if they see outlawing discrimination as criminalizing Christianity, they must be really upset about the emancipation of their slaves and the criminalization of stoning and torture. Ah, the good ol' days, when we could put a hot poker through the tongues of those who dare to question us. 'Cause, you know, we just love us some free speech.
ReplyDeleteI'm always amazed that a person can think this way, let alone write it up in a public forum for all to read. I wonder if you sit alone at night with a drink in your hand and cry for your own ignorance. No, probably you think you are beyond witty and intelligent.
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for you.
The biggest threat to religious freedom in the USA today comes from these tyrannical corporations like Walmart who force millions of Christians to break the Sabbath. These employees will burn in hell for eternity for $7.25 an hour. Where's the outrage? I've never heard anyone on Fox news complain about this horrible situation.
ReplyDeleteYou know, they used to stone people to death for working on Sunday. For every reference to homosexuality in the bible there are several hundred references to breaking the Sabbath. It's actually one of the big ten, right up there with murder and adultery.
Say WHAT???!!!!!
DeleteHow stupid can you get? You do realize, I hope, that people have been working on Sunday for decades and decades and decades and....
Yep. Gotta pick and choose to be a good Christian. Premarital sex is ...eh..OK, but gay sex is definitely a sin.
DeleteThe Old Testament Sabbath is observed by the Jews. It is from Sundown Friday until Saturday night.
Delete"These employees will burn in hell for eternity for $7.25 an hour. "
DeleteI'm hoping this is snark.
The Bible tells us that baby Jesus hates hates hates "fuzz-nuzzlers" and "pole-sitters" so we need to make that stuff illegal just like bacon and shrimp because, America.
ReplyDeleteI know, right?
DeleteYou don't need any more proof than what the colon-cowboys put those wedding cake bakers through. The court criminalized their Christian beliefs.
ReplyDeletehttp://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2014/06/03/baker-forced-to-make-gay-wedding-cakes-undergo-sensitivity-training-after/
Oh geez. This was a hot topic at the pond a few days ago. A troll tried to argue that gay discrimination is similar to the discrimination of blacks by businesses in the past, but was argued down, because blacks can't help being black and all. Oh, and sin is OK, as long as you don't throw a parade for it...
DeleteNotice, I have a fairly large number of gay friends (and no, I am not gay!) and we have all sorts of wild discussions. Not ONCE during any of those discussions have I heard the crap you're trying to spout. As I have said to quite a few of the idiots who try to act and sound intelligent here, believe what you will, just don't try to push your crap in our faces.
ReplyDeleteIt's fun to watch Little Green Footballs go after right wing idiots with the tenacity they used to go after left wing idiots but truth be told Charles Johnson, his blog and his commenters still represent an over-sampling of talent from the shallow end of the gene pool.

That list of participants is a rogue's gallery of right-wing nuttiness. I didn't happen to see Gohmert in the video, but he certainly ties in with these nutjobs. I'd be interested to find out what the Southern Poverty Law center thinks about these dopes.
