Veteran calls the Republicans out on their hypocrisy concerning the military.

Courtesy of the Greenville Gazette:

In a recent post on FaceBook, veteran Jim Adams told the Republicans, ‘don’t you dare thank me for my military service’. He goes on to tell them, ‘you no longer have that right’. Mr. Adams tells the Republicans they sent him to war on a lie, and now want to cut his health and food benefits. He reminds them how they are voting against every veteran bill that hits the floor. He tells them he knows they don’t give a f**k about him or any other veteran and is insulted that veterans are part of the ‘47% takers’ they do not want to support.

One of the bills the Republicans voted against, and showed their abandonment of veterans for, was the Senate Veteran Bill. This bill would have expanded medical, educational and other benefits for those who have served our country. Thousands spoke out in support of this bill to honor and take care of those who have taken care of us. It was shot down by Senate Republicans as they could not use the lives of soldiers as a bargaining chip.

I am hoping to see a lot more of this in the future as more veterans come to realize that the fake patriotism of the Right Wing focuses on drumming up reasons to go to war and sending our military into foreign countries to die.

And it is not only on Facebook where veterans are speaking out, recently a former sniper addressed the mythology surrounding Chris Kyle and the movie "American Sniper."

To be blunt the conservatives and Republican party are dedicated to ensuring endless war and continued American casualties, all in the name of patriotism and protecting the homeland.

The REAL patriots are the people trying to protect our military from dying needlessly and receiving the care and support they need when they return home from putting themselves in harm's way at the direction of politicians whose children are kept far away from the front lines.

The Republicans in our U.S. Congress grow more and more despicable as the days go by! They don't support veterans, the middle class or the poor. Congress also has a very low approval rating from Americans across the nation. Where President Obama's ratings have gone up and are over 50%!

And, then there is Boehner doing his dirty deeds as to Netinyaho (spelling!). I'm glad the Democrats (to include VP Biden) will not be in attendance at his speech before Congress! Boehner slipped the jerk in without contacting our POTUS, which is against normal procedures!

Vote Republicans out of office when they are next up for reelection and don't vote new ones in - especially in the U.S. Congress!

In Alaska, that includes Lisa Murkowski, Don Young and the other Dan Sullivan. They all stink to high heaven and do not represent Alaskans!

  2. I'm with Jim Adams on his rant! In Canada, the Prime Minister recently said that he did not believe in supporting the Canadian veterans (or words to that effect). Rick Mercer, a Canadian broadcaster on CBC, told the story of a veteran he knows who lost both legs to war in Iraq who needs to get a letter from his doctor each year to indicate that his legs are still missing and that he should be receiving critical medical from the government! Like his legs will grow back or something! Since Harper is financed by the Koch Brothers in the same manner as our GOP politicians, we can definitely see the hate emanating from the KB/1%ers that hate any funding going to anyone but themselves! They really should be totally ashamed of themselves. Time for all Canadians and Americans to stop supporting the war machine that destroys our citizens while enriching the politicians and their bought for positions.

More members of the military need to recognize and acknowledge publicly that the GOP has not been their friend. It saddens me to read about soldiers or ex-soldiers not recognizing how much the Obama Administration has done for them or how hard the First Lady and Jill Biden have done on their behalf.

What say you, Sarah Palin with the Fake Warrior Son who was sired by someone other than your Pimp Husband?

Good for Mr. Adams to speak out on this. It needs to be said and Republicans and those who profit from exploiting veterans and military should be ashamed. Republicans like Sarah love to "Hooah", with nary any risk, but loves to enable Republicans and Tea Partiers in preventing assistance to these veterans.

Shame on anyone who 'uses' any military servants to gain political points and get likes on their facebook posts and get donations for personal use. SHAME on them.

Gryphen, I would like to expand upon your last paragraph:
If the regressives attain the last of the three branches of US government, i. e. the Executive, I fear they will force the re-installation of "The Draft". That way they can have the permanent wars of dominance over others they crave.

It's not about ideology and defeating "the enemy". It never was. It's about making money for the "military industrial complex" that Eisenhower warned us about all those years ago.

As a veteran and lifetime democrat, I am always appalled that people like Sarah Palin( no service in her or her husband's family history until Trackmarks) that try and make it sound as if only republicans serve.
But the one blatant FACT is republicans have again and again voted against increasing the pay or benefits to serving military and taking from us veterans. Even Raphael Cruz' shutdown last yr made it impossible for myself or my veteran husband to go to that damned PX.
Republicans have consistantly voted against the military, the ONLY time they seem to vote "pro military" is to send us to war. John McCain is a perfect example, he has voted for cutting my husband's bit of disability from getting blown apart in Nam, a loss of a kidney, spleen, and eye sight in one eye and McCain is all for cutting that measly $6,000 a fucking yr. According to the GOP my husband is a taker and a user, personally I think he earned that fucking $500 a month. I also served 3 yrs in Nam and haven't even got an apology from John McCain for leaving my POW cousin in Nam. If the GOP was truly promilitary, why did they organize and fight for yrs to stop looking for our POW's in Nam?
C,mon Orlin, I'm sure you as a trailer park "patriot" have all the answers. Too bad you never had the fucking balls to serve and probably belong to an anti American secessionist organization like the Palin thugs.

There should NEVER be any question about providing our veterans the services they need and have earned.

Congress is thrilled to include billions in their budgets for military hardware the military doesn't even want, but is quick to reduce the money available for veterans' healthcare, paychecks and other benefits.

Bottom line: the corporations that provide that hardware have lots of money to donate to political campaigns, but the veterans only have their arms, legs, eyes, brains, etc. Can't pay for campaigns with body parts.

Anon 1:29 I respectfully disagree with you. Your husband does not deserve $6,000/ year. He deserves a hell of alot more. He deserves full, appropriate medical care, and a pension that allows him to live with dignity. This is a really sore spot with me. My father was a disabled veteran out of WWII. I saw what a grateful nation provided for him. He was able to live out his life, working as he could, in comfort and dignity. He had full medical care until he died, and mother had Tricare for life until she died. Today's veterans deserve every bit as much now. If we are going to send our men and women to war, we need to be prepared to pay the full cost of caring for those who come home less than whole.

Sorry about the rant, but ...

Lots of Democrats in Congress did whatever they could to shorten George's foolish war and they have fought hard to provide soldiers in combat, their families and veterans with whatever support they need. On the other hand, the GOP/teabagger Congressman from my district, like the rest of his GOP colleagues, consistently votes against bills to help soldiers, veterans or their families but wins re-election by blanketing the television screens with ads (paid for by the Koch brothers) showing how much he "loves" the military. Kind of like how the GOP loves the "unborn" but won't help children once they are in the here and now. Don't blame Democrats for GOP behavior.

So glad some veterans are realizing the truth. People like Palin and Cruz try to pander to them. So sick of right wing lies.

A few years back, folk singer-songwriter Tom Lewis wrote a song called "Princes in the Line" which rings even more true today. BTW, it's a free download at his website.

The heir to England's throne stood proud, before a wall in France,
“Once more unto the breach, dear friends!”; he bid the troops advance,
His armour, and his honour, bright; all men could see them shine,
So they followed to the battle for their prince was in the line.

When Charles's cavaliers were called to muster for the king,
The monarch's only nephew heard the call to duty ring,
Foremost in the fighting rode Rupert Of The Rhine,
There was honour in the battle when a prince was in the line.

    Chorus:
(But/For) the children of our rulers will not join the fight today,
(and) Kings of Commerce never send their sons into the fray,
The children of the poor will fight the wars that they design,
But what honour's in the battle with no princes in the line?

The South Pacific blazed, and rang with Freedom's fire-alarm,
The name of 'old Joe' Kennedy could keep his sons from harm,
But the Navy needed brave young men; this was the place and time,
So a Once-And-Future President stepped up into the line.

    Chorus

A bitter South Atlantic wind blew over icy sea,
The Queen of England's son flew out to face the enemy,
As target for the missiles, to protect the fleet so fine.
This argument's not: 'Right or wrong?' - but: 'Princes in the line?'

    Chorus

Prime Ministers and Presidents take us to war with lies,
In parliament and congress they wear flags for their disguise,
Their kids wear trendy camouflage while sipping vintage wine,
But they will not wear the uniform, and step into the line.

    Chorus:
For the children of our rulers will not join the fight today,
(and) Kings of Commerce never send their sons into the fray,
The children of the poor will fight the wars that they design,
But what honour's in the battle with no princes in the line?
But what honour's in the battle with no princes in the line?
If there was honour in the battle... there'd be princes in the line.
