I'm a little younger, but I feel exactly the same way.

I wish my older relatives were like this woman. Mine are all Fox News watchers who vote for teabaggers.

Funny how the segment of our population that is most dependent on our government, is the same group that is determined to destroy it.

    1. Take heart, there are still a lot of us out here. We're still fighting but we're getting tired.

I agree with this lovely lady 100%. I am 71 years old now and I can proudly say that I have worked, voted and always paid taxes without complaining. I understand that we, as citizens/residents of this country, are in this together and that our taxes make the country operate. It could be so much better without 1) the greed of the very rich and the many wannabes who fear paying their fair share of taxes because it might help those with less, 2) the meanness of those who feed their prejudices and racism at every turn, and 3) the craziness of those who think that owning guns will solve their problems.

I am so tired of those Republicans who wrap themselves in the flag claiming their love for freedom and the Constitution all the while working hard at increasing the number of their fellow citizens who are left behind while only the richest move forward. They complain about everything and feel oppressed when they are the oppressors. And they have only gotten worse. Modern Republicans really do not want to live in this country but in some despotic state where they can impose their own version of "sharia" law, keep the races separate and most unequal, and where the richest can continue to reap most of the wealth. They are as unAmerican as a human being can be.

Frankly there has never been a Republican candidate for whom I could in good conscience cast my vote.

Beagle mom, you're the greatest! I always look forward to your comments. You have insight many others lack, including myself. You tell it like it is. Thank you for your posts.

Beaglemom, Unlike you, I did complain about many things as an adult American. Starting with a trickle down economy that dried up before it reached my family and a 'B' grade actor who played president with Bonzo for his VP....

Anon at 6:56 am. It's not that I haven't complained about a lot of things but I haven't complained about paying taxes. I have written quite regularly to senators and representatives about many issues and even the White House on occasion. But I do understand that we cannot survive as a country without paying the bill and that means paying taxes. I want this country to do the best for each and every person living here, not just for the few.

6:56 here: I think we are kindred spirits! I read on c4p this morning that as a 'liburl' dimocRAT, I have an ebt card and Obamaphone! I have never had either, but unlike those patriots, I believe in helping others, social responsibility, a chain only being as strong as it's weakest link, etc. Although I no longer consider myself a Christian, I adhere to Jesus's teaching more closely then the tea party/GOP brethren.

This is great. However, if this wonderful woman is in anyway unable to drive anymore, she may not have an ID in order to vote in many states. Thus restricting her right to vote for Democrats. See the beauty in the cons' voting 'concerns?'

My parents are in their 70s and get more and more politically progressive every year (and they started out pretty left-leaning).

O/T a bit: Rich Lowrey opposes the confirmation of Loretta Lynch for Attorney General. "Of course, this is the guy who sees starbursts when Sarah Palin is on the teevee and thinks she's winking just for him, so maybe he's not your best ally here on the optics of women stuff." Daily Kos

  7. I would be thrilled if I could look that good at 86. I'm 78, born in the year that Roosevelt created the New Deal, and the Republicans have been trying to destroy it my whole life. I've never been sure why, other than that they didn't like him.

  8. I'm only 60 and I can say a lot of what she did (except for the two depressions part).

Didn't see two world wars but my Dad was in the army during Korea, my brother in the Air force for Desert Storm and I was in school for Vietnam.

I also have personal experience of how Reagan ruined California, which is why I never voted for him for president.

Pete Wilson ruined the California economy and Schwarzenegger made it worse.

From the local (Republican mayors in what is supposed to be a nonpartisan office) to national, Republicans in office sell themselves and our heritage to developers, corporations and anyone else with money, while diverting our tax money to those haves that don't NEED more, just want more.

Still waiting for God to call the Koch brothers home. I guess that's proof positive there is no God.
