A western Kentucky sheriff’s deputy was placed on paid leave after accidentally shooting his mother during a wedding ceremony.
Detective Cory Golightly, a McCracken County sheriff’s deputy, brought a personal weapon over the weekend to the wedding at Bardwell Baptist Church in nearby Carlisle County, reported WPSD-TV.
The weapon fell to the ground and fired – striking Golightly’s mother — as the deputy adjusted his jacket, investigators said.
His mother, by the way, is listed is stable condition and should recover fine.
I'm sure that everybody is going to jump all over this poor deputy for shooting his own mother in a church, but maybe she was asking for it. We don't know the story.
Kind of tricky of him to say the gun did it by itself though.
But we're not fooled, because as the NRA keeps telling us, "Guns don't shoot and almost kill people in a church, people shoot and almost kill people in a church."
Nice try Deputy.
With so many church shootings, the PayMe;s are smart NOT to go!!. This will be their excuse next.
ReplyDeleteHappy mom's Day!
DeleteThe mom is probably wishing she would of had that abortion that planned parenthood offered her....just sayin'....!
Gryphen, I love you.
ReplyDeleteThank you for this: ...as the NRA keeps telling us, "Guns don't shoot and almost kill people in a church, people shoot and almost kill people in a church."
I'm glad you are there, keeping up the good fight.

Wow. I've lived in Texas most of my life, been to a LOT of weddings, and I don't recall a single one where I wished I had a gun to protect myself. Maybe weddings are different in Kentucky?
ReplyDeleteHe was expecting an ambush, obviously.
DeleteWell, there's the Shotgun Wedding, and then there's the Pistol Wedding... Different objectives.
DeleteIf you need a gun at a wedding, either you are a pussy or you watch too much Fox news. I'll go with both.
DeleteCongrats on the Demboski pummeling, Gryph!
ReplyDeleteA truly memorable event!
ReplyDeleteHmmm, a gun with a mind of its own, in a Kentucky church, at a wedding that was not Bristol & Dakota's. What does this event perhaps portent for the Tripp's mom and his grandmother?
ReplyDelete*yikes!*
dowl
WTF? A western Kentucky sheriff’s deputy was placed on paid leave after accidentally shooting his mother during a wedding ceremony
ReplyDeleteSorry Bristol, that's why I will not be attending your. wedding in Kentucky.
Alcohol, alcoholics, PTSD, women beaters, guns, retards, inbreds, Palins and Myers at church is asking for trouble.
Wow, and right before Mother's Day, too. Methinks someone better come across with a HUGE Mother's Day present. ProFlowers, Sherry's Berries, & maybe even a 14 day Caribbean cruise. Not to mention indentured servitude for the rest of your life. If that were my son, I would never, ever let him forget it.
ReplyDeleteclassic....................
ReplyDeleteGotta wonder what he was so afraid of that he needed to carry a cocked, locked and loaded gun to a wedding ceremony ?
ReplyDeleteI picture his mom swinging one of those cast iron pans, and she's got better aim.
DeleteGive me the bullet, Barney.
ReplyDeleteIt's not just in red states. A Gilroy Ca cops 14 yr old got access to his privately owned gun ( not his service weapon) and shot herself this week.
ReplyDeleteBut then the way most cops are maybe the guns are taking out the bad people with guns?
I guess Deputy Dawg was just participating in the librull war on religion.
ReplyDeleteKen-frickin'-tucky... this does not bode well for the D'oh and Moh soon to be wedding.
ReplyDeleteHe's just pissed his aim ain't good. Someone tell his mom to sleep with one eye open, get a huge dog and security lights.
ReplyDeleteYou should see what happens when he adjusts his junk! Whew!!!!!
