School principal causes mass exodus after calling people rude and singling out black people during valedictorian speech. Update!

If you found this a little confusing here is some background courtesy of The Grio:

Friday, the founder of TNT Academy in Lilburn Georgia shocked students and parents alike when she made racist comments towards her black graduates.

In the past students have alleged that the school, and it’s founder Nancy Gordeuk hold disparaging views towards people of color, and at yesterday’s graduation ceremony they unexpectedly received validation.

The confusion initially started when Gordeuk accidentally ended the ceremony without allowing the valedictorian to make their speech. When she became aware of her mistake, she asked all the graduating seniors to come back inside the hall for the final speech.

In response to the fact that people were now very restless, thinking the ceremony over, and had started to move around and talk to one another, Principal Nancy Gordeuk lost her cool and started channeling her inner Michael Richards.

Gordeuk has since apologized, but it just goes to show how deeply ingrained racism can be.

Personally I feel sorry for the students graduating who now have this last hurtful memory of their high school experience.

Update: Damn the principal did blame this on the devil didn't she?

Courtesy of the Daily Beast:

“A terrible mistake on my part of the graduation ceremony on Friday night,” Gordeuk wrote, according to WXIA in Atlanta. “The devil was in the house and came out from my mouth. I deeply apologize for my racist comment and hope that forgiveness in in your hearts.”

You know you really have to hand it to Satan. After all we know he must have a busy schedule, what with tempting people into sin and all, and yet he takes the time out of his day to sabotage a simple alternative school graduation.

What a guy!

Headline should read "principal" although the whole thing does also involve "principles."

I saw this on the news this morning and she was about to start crying, but quickly said that God has forgiven her, so all is OK. Typical.

    1. It really burns me all these people that claim God has forgiven them and that's some sort of excuse.

As far as I'm concerned, if they claim God has forgiven them they're hearing voices and should be put on a 72 mental health hold at the nearest facility. Voices in your head and antisocial behavior points to a mental disorder.

I read Gordeuk apologized by blaming Satan. Yeah. Because it's never about personal responsibility. Way to stay classy Gordeuk.

So, just going on instinct, after reading about this travesty, I googled "Nancy Grodeuk Church", going on the basis that 90% of older white people in Georgia are going to be evangelical.

She later blamed the black comment on the Devil.... yeah, that's believable. Oh, the devil made me do it, dontcha know. She said, "The Devil was in the house"

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/morning-mix/wp/2015/05/10/apologetic-georgia-principal-blames-the-devil-for-racist-remark-at-graduation-ceremony/

Making matters worse, if that’s possible, Nancy’s son Travis thought it would be a good idea to challenge everybody who was speaking ill of his mother to a physical confrontation by using his own racist jargon (and including his address)

    http://starcasm.net/archives/315005

Of course, the nasty challenge he made to people has been taken off Travis' facebook page by now.

I'm now waiting for Caribou Barbie Paylin or Glenn Beck, or Rush Slimeball to now blame this whole thing on President Obama, because since The President is black, he started all the racial tensions.

    3..2..1...

You got that? By being elected, the President's black skin is causing all the white people to do and say racist shit, and also causes cops to shoot unarmed black men

Makes sense for the Teaparty, evangelicals, KKK, Aryan nations, and the Fox news crowd

The encouraging part of this story is that at a private, religious-based high school in Georgia, many or most of the white parents and white students were so offended by her comments that they, too, walked out, and made negative comments as they did so.

Let's see...start a private school. Enroll a significant number of black students. Then turn around and slam those students and families at graduation. Close private school for lack of students next year.
I think instead of the devil, she needs to blame the whiskey and/or line of coke. She follows the Sarah Palin method of preparing for a public appearance.

    @4:55 am:

At least they will remember it?
Yes, it's always good to remember an insulting ignorant racist throw out insults to students like "goober, you coward"

It's so heartening to remember that your graduation was presided over by a so called "Christian" who blatantly callled out those black people in a pejorative sense, and then pretended to apologize by BLAMING IT ON THE DEVIL.

Such a warm, gracious memory to take with you from your graduation, being insulted and verbally abused by a hypocritical racist blaming her behavior on the leader of the dark spirit world.

These evangelicals are as ignorant and superstitious as peasants in the Middle ages, with their mythology of religion and their devils, demons and witches.

So convenient to blame it on the devil, and then offer a non-apology, and say, "well, I'm forgiven now, so that's all set"

Whited sepulchers, every one of them

    Nancy Gordeuk today:

    http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/nancy-gordeuk-tnt-academy-black-people

"My side is I’m not a racist,” Gordeuk said. “I didn’t know ‘black people’ was a racist term. I didn’t say the N-word or anything like that ‘cause that’s not in my vocabulary.”

“When I looked left, K, the light as you know, lights in the auditorium, you look left, all I saw were black people getting up and leaving,” Gordeuk continued. “And I said, ‘Oh, look who’s leaving, all the black people.’ So I made a statement. It wasn’t a racist remark. Anybody that knows me knows my heart is with these kids.”

TNT Academy should have had Back That A** Up" cued up.

Ms.Gordeuk suffers from the delusion that as long as you don't use a racial or ethnic slur you are not a racist. Not true.

Most people are bright enough to read the intent behind the words, and realize that the hatred is there even if the slurs are not.

I've heard too many rants about "those people", prefaced by "I'm not a racist", to fall for the load of horse manure she's trying to dish out.

      "those people"

    3. She doesn't even realize it was a racist remark? Just because she said black people instead of N****s?

Oh, she so needs to resign.

Yeah, she may claim not to be a racist, but her son said some pretty crude stuff about the event and its aftermath:

The New York Daily News reports that he posted on Facebook, "Yall n----s aren’t talkin about s--t so if u got somthing to say come see me face to face."

I don't particularly like the principal's comment, but it was clear to me that many of the students and parents were running their mouths and making a lot of noise and not focusing their attention on the valedictorian. There was too much talking in that auditorium and it wasn't just the principal.

    1. That's because she had already dismissed them all before the ceremony was over and then called them back for the valedictorian's speech.

Still, it was clear that she'd asked them all to come back and instead of sitting down and getting quiet, they chose to keep on yapping. I think she went too far with what she said, but I certainly can understand her frustration with a group of people who clearly didn't care.

Why is this ceremony taking place in a church? Some commenters have characterized the school as religious, but I don't see that in Gryph's story or the links people provided.

About a year ago I read an article about how racism has changed over the years, and that people no longer exhibit overt racism (most of the time), but there are those "dog whistles" that imply bigotry. The piece gave a lot of good examples. Unfortunately I didn't bookmark the article and I'd really like to find it again. I'll do my thing with Google, but if anyone out there remembers it, I'd appreciate a head's up.

I'm on good terms with the devil, people always speak the truth when they feel they've lost control, seeing those dark folk getting up and leaving wasn't of the devil, it was her racism pustule popping, and I bet she says much much worse on a regular basis.
When is an apology not an apology? When someone suggests the devil spoke the words, and not her. Stupid Bitch, oh did I say that? Well if it offended anyone, then I'm sorry, the devil made me do it.

According to one person in attendance, she was abusive throughout the ceremony. Even before the blacks and the goobers comments, she had called for crying babies to have their mouths taped shut.

All I can think of was this lady was high or drunk. All in all, good riddance.
