"You're in my house." President Obama shuts down protester during event honoring LGBT pride month.

Courtesy of HuffPo:

President Barack Obama was heckled Wednesday during a White House event honoring LGBT Pride Month by an undocumented LGBT activist protesting his administration's policies on deportation and undocumented LGBT immigrants.

"Not one more deportation!" Jennicet Gutiérrez shouted, before being escorted from the room by Secret Service agents.

Obama appeared angry at the interruption and addressed Gutiérrez directly. "No, no, no. Listen, you're in my house. It's not respectful. Shame on you. You shouldn't be doing this," he said.

Gutiérrez, a 29-year-old transgender woman, came to the U.S. from Mexico when she was 15. She is in the process of getting a green card through her sister, but is currently undocumented. At Wednesday's event, she said she intended to deliver a letter bringing the abuse of undocumented LGBT immigrants to Obama's attention.

You know I think there is certainly a time and a place to heckle a politician, but if you are transgender it seems doing it during a White House event honoring LGBT month just seems incredibly counterproductive.

I mean the President is already reaching out to your community, and has easily been the most pro-gay President that we have ever seen in this country.

So why try to embarrass him and anger other LGBT activists to make a point?

I think the President handled it well. And demonstrated great patience while doing so.

  1. Or she could have just hand delivered that letter in a polite and respectful manner instead of ticking him off. She did her cause a disservice by acting up.

I liked when the Prez called her out for not complaining until after she hit up the bar and free food. Sorry, to me that proves she could control herself when she wanted to, he was correct in having her escorted out when she continued her off topic rant.

THE PRESIDENT: Okay, where was I? (Laughter and applause.) So as a general rule, I am just fine with a few hecklers — (laughter) — but not when I’m up in the house. (Applause.) You know what I mean? You know, my attitude is if you’re eating the hors d’oeuvres — (laughter) — you know what I’m saying?

    THE VICE PRESIDENT: I do.

THE PRESIDENT: Okay. And drinking the booze. I know that’s right.

President Obama has demonstrated incredible patience with hecklers throughout his presidency, but to come to the White House and disrespect the President is a different story.

The event that the President was hosting was an LGBT Pride Month reception to disrupt this event with a protest on an unrelated issue was disrespectful of the LGBT community.

Obama was also correct. The people attending that event were invited by the White House. This was not an open to the public gathering. It is a different story if hecklers want to protest at a public event, but not at the White House.

The heckling of Obama was especially unfair because this President has tried to do more for undocumented immigrants through his executive actions than any other political leader in the country. The was uncivil, inappropriate, and deserving of the President’s scorn.

    Heads up, G-Man:

...Stewart is leaving the show on August 6th and handing the reigns over to Trevor Noah, but before he goes, Comedy Central is paying tribute to his many years with a pretty frigging long live stream.

The cable network set up a page on its website titled “Your Month of Zen,” which, starting tomorrow, will run a 42-day marathon of every single Jon Stewart episode since the very beginning.

That’s right, for the next month-plus, you can relive the Daily Show‘s coverage of every single election since 2000 and every single political scandal since Monica Lewinsky (a topic Stewart addressed on his very first show).

Comedy Central’s SiriusXM channel will join the stream from August 1st at 7 am through August 3rd at 7 am. And Comedy Central will also air a one-hour special on August 2nd at 9 pm titled News Your Own Adventure, hosted by Daily Show correspondents and full of Daily Show highlights voted on by fans.

The 42-day Jon Stewart online marathon (#JonVoyage) kicks off tomorrow at 12 pm EST.

You were inappropriate, rude, demanding, and did more to HURT your crusade than help it. Your bullshit editorial exposes your thoughtlessness, parading under a banner of helping others. Had you respectfully requested an audience with President Obama, rather than disrupt and hijack an event that was OFFICIALLY celebrating and honoring your fellow LGBTQ brothers and sisters, I feel certain your voice would have been heard in a productive and adult way. Throwing a tantrum just made you look like a jerk. You were given an invitation to attend a professional event, and you behaved like a loser.

EXCLUSIVE: I interrupted Obama because we need to be heard

I love President Obama! He's not taking much shit anymore and it's a total pleasure to watch.

That person was totally out of line and it was appropriate she was removed from 'his House' immediately!

I respect and understand transgender issues and I support you as well. However, HE is the president of the United States. I don't care what job he is or isn't doing by OUR definition or what the media feeds us. The fact is that you were both rude and crass to our leader in front of the whole world. There is and will be a time to fight, rightfully so and it will take time, just as with the gay community. Fight the good fight, but disrespecting the president was ill advised, especially for someone fighting for non citizens and with someone that has done the most as a President in regards to equalization and rights for the LGBTQ community.

If you don't want to give her blog 'clicks', here is the statement.

      Big News

(I’m announcing this news a lot sooner than I ever expected due to the constant trolls who have nothing better to talk about!!!)

I wanted you guys to be the first to know that I am pregnant.

Honestly, I’ve been trying my hardest to keep my chin up on this one.

At the end of the day there’s nothing I can’t do with God by my side, and I know I am fully capable of handling anything that is put in front of me with dignity and grace.

Life moves on no matter what. So no matter how you feel, you get up, get dressed, show up, and never give up.

When life gets tough, there is no other option but to get tougher.

I know this has been, and will be, a huge disappointment to my family, to my close friends, and to many of you.

But please respect Tripp’s and my privacy during this time. I do not want any lectures and I do not want any sympathy.

My little family always has, and always will come first.

Tripp, this new baby, and I will all be fine, because God is merciful.
      ========

You stupid slut. Unprotected sex will result in pregnancy. Simple. I could care less if you had sex. I could care less if you have tons of sex, but you were DAMNED IRRESPONSIBLE to have unprotected sex and now ANOTHER innocent child will be subjected to your damaged mothering.

Don't look for sympathy, don't be a victim. YOU CHOSE TO GET PREGNANT, it was no accident. What a fucking waste of humankind you are. Life gets tough? Spare us the platitudes. YOU CHOSE to let that penis into you unprotected and you KNEW the consequences of your actions. Whining about it is lower than low class and leaves a public trail for your child to grow up and read about when they are able. All this God talk? Give me a break. This is on YOU, you fucking whore.

She shouldn't worry about "keeping her chin up", more like she should keep her legs closed. How much of an idiot odes she have to be to understand how not to get pregnant. Either that or she has the morals of an Alaskan whore. I guess it could be both... I really wish these hillbillies would just go away. I see FoxNews just cut her from their staff. Good riddance!

No one would care that much if her psycho mother wasn't always going on about "conservative family values." The hypocrisy of the Palins is what makes this hilarious. Also maybe time to try a more effective form of birth control like a IUD or the shot. Course if she got the GOP version of sex ed she probably thought jumping up and down would prevent conception.

No, it's not "his" house. It's all U.S. taxpayers' house. We provide it for him to live and work in, but he doesn't own it. I don't think the protester was respectful, but that doesn't mean I thought President Obama's response was right, either.

President Obama's guest was flatly rude and disrespectful, and yes, it IS his house, as long as he is president. No one else LIVES there. It's not about 'owning' it, it's about the spirit of his statement and the way that cretin behaved. That obviously went right over your head, now didn't it?

Actually, as a US citizen it is his house and not an undocumented persons from Mexico that disrupted a gathering.

Now we know why the MOH dumped her ass. He sure wasn't the daddy, and that hurry up wedding was NOT gonna cover up for her sexual shenanigans. Nope, she ran that racket on Dakota, with her mother's help, knowing full well she was hiding shit and trying to get him to take on fathering some other bloke's kid. Talk about dodging a bullet.

    2. So maybe Sarah's finger wagging was more like: buck up or get out of the truck! Todd married me when I had another guy's kid in me. So what? It's what we do. There's a Lot Of money to be made, moh.

Ia so admire this man for standing up for himself on his own turf. t Don't know about other parts of the country, but the "not in my house" lexicon is pretty common in the African American Community, and he had full rights to say it. Tamryn Hall did much the same on her show when a guest started dissing her, and she was right as well.
No other President has done more to advance the causes of the LGBT community. He doesn't just "tolerate", he "Accepts" LGBT'S as his equal, as it should be. He's earned the right to demand respect on his turf, and it IS his turf as long as he's POTUS.

  21. So the President complained about an undocumented person heckling him in the White House? There's not a degree of irobny about him saying an undocumented person shouldn't be in his house?

    Oh man.

  22. Totally disrespectful. A person that's in the country illegally is invited to the White House. This is something that is very rare for an actual citizen. But this person uses that opportunity to heckle the President. Frankly, if I were president, this person would be deported.
