White House aide arrested for assault after taking police officer boyfriend's gun and firing it in his direction.

Courtesy of CNN:

A White House staffer was arrested Friday on charges of assault and reckless endangerment after allegedly threatening and shooting at a Capitol Hill police officer with whom she had been having sex, according to arrest records.

Barvetta Singletary, a special assistant to the President and House legislative affairs liaison, has been placed on unpaid leave and had her access to the White House revoked, a White House spokesperson told CNN on Monday.

Singletary was released Monday from jail in Prince George's County, Maryland, after posting a $75,000 bond, according to spokesman John Erzen of Maryland's state's attorney's office.

The incident began early Friday morning after Singletary texted the officer "asking him to come to her residence...for sexual intercourse," according to charging documents, which classified the incident as domestic violence.

After "a brief sexual encounter," Singletary began asking the officer about another woman he was dating and tried to access his cell phones.

Singletary then grabbed the officer's service weapon from a bag and pointed it at him, before firing one round toward him, documents say.

Oh yeah the last thing you want to do is discuss the other woman with a loaded gun within reach of the woman with whom you just had sex. That is Not Getting Shot 101.

Apparently Singletary tried to destroy the evidence by wiping down the gun, and is currently not allowed on White House grounds. Which I think is clearly the right call.

I would assume that ultimately she will lose her job, and if that police officer has a brain in his head, her boyfriend as well.

Whew !!! Getting to the truth is becoming very creative. Makes for a good novel. Woman invites dick and gun to her home. After a smelly quicky, takes gun away from dick and ask for truth. NOW. not knowing the facts? Poor guy was just doing his job and was a good friend to a woman with very few choices. Whew!!! glad she is a bad shot. Be careful out there everyone.

What the hell is wrong with people in this country?

Have gun, will shoot? I'm thinking her love life may be impacted a bit by shooting at a boyfriend---of course I could be wrong. There are a whole lot of people in this country who get turned on by gun wielding nuts.

So I wonder how many hearing in Congress this will generate? And a jealous woman shoots at her boyfriend. Thanks Obama.

Romeo and Juliet, Dakota and Bristol and now Barvetta Singletary and Roscoe ....

I enjoy reading all about these "love" stories.

How did "White House staffer" in the article become a "Senior White House aide" in the headline. That's the kind of thing that FOX does.

    1. Actually it was reported that she was a "Senior White House staff" by at least two other news outlets.

But I changed it just to be accurate.

Wow, her promising career path just took a sharp turn straight down the toilet! And over a man? Doh! What the hell was she thinking? I certainly hope she loses her White House job; no room for crazies there. And no way I want my tax dollars paying her salary!

First glance at headline, I thought she took the police officer's boyfriend's gun. Sheesh, need caffeine.

This is sad. This woman has a lot going for her. She's definitely not "a woman with very few choices". From KingsTreenews.com of her hometown of Hemingway, SC in 2014:
"During Congressman Clyburn’s tenure as Majority Whip of the House, Singletary played an integral role in crafting the landmark healthcare law, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and Health Education Reconciliation Act. (“Affordable Care Act”). In addition, Singletary was the principal staffer to Congressman Clyburn on Vice President Biden’s Deficit Reduction Group (“Biden Committee”) and the Joint Select Committee on Deficit Reduction (“Super Committee”). In both roles, Singletary interacted and collaborated with senior White House officials, Members of Congress and other senior staff, key industries and consumer stakeholders.

Singletary was very instrumental in securing key provisions in the Affordable Care Act and Health Care and Education Reconciliation Act including: $11 billion in mandatory funding for community health centers; National Health Service Corps Scholarship and Loan Repayment Programs, which provides $1.5 billion in mandatory funding to support primary care providers who commit to practice in underserved communities; Language to ensure multi-state health exchanges meet a minimum federal standard; Non-discrimination language, a discrimination clause based on Titles VI and IX of the Civil Rights Act- an authority extended to health care for the first time in history; Language to establish and codify offices of minority health in seven agencies within the Department of Health and Human Services and she played central role in negotiating a rate review to increase accountability and transparency for insurers when raising premiums.

Singletary concurrently served as Deputy Chief of Staff to Congressman Clyburn’s congressional office, where she began as an intern in 2000 and quickly rose through a series of increasingly important positions.

Singletary is a graduate of Hemingway High School and Howard University, Washington DC. "

I'm amazed how a woman who's clearly worked her way up the ladder to a job with a lot of influence would let a "booty call" escalate to the point of pointing a gun. She must have known he had other women, but why risk all that hard work for a "brief sexual encounter" that ended in a moment of poor judgement?
I hope you're right, they both deserve to lose their jobs.

  10. First commenter essentially summed it up correctly. Not worth posting when even comments from proud lapsed Catholics get it right.
