Walker administration to review Alaska corrections department policies in wake of inmate deaths.

Palin appointee Joe Schmidt, Commissioner of Corrections in Alaska.
Courtesy of Alaska Dispatch:

Alaska Gov. Bill Walker says his administration will review the state corrections department’s policies and its safety measures following a string of inmate deaths last year.

Dean Williams, a top Walker assistant who used to run a youth corrections center in Anchorage, will lead the review along with Joe Hanlon, a private investigator and former FBI agent, Walker's office announced Monday.

A prepared statement from Walker said the review would “look for ways to improve department policies and ensure inmate safety,” and aims to “address the concerns that have been raised about the Department of Corrections.”

Walker’s spokeswoman Katie Marquette said inmate deaths would be one element of the review.

Okay let me just tell you that this is a MUCH bigger story than this tiny article at the Dispatch would suggest.

There was abuse of prisoners, abuse of staff, abuse of the system in general, and let's just say that money changed hands to quiet the whole thing down.

Taxpayer money.

And at the center of it all is Palin's butt boy Joe Schmidt, who quite literally should never have been allowed to run a kennel for dogs, much less be responsible for human beings serving time in Alaska.

The Palin curse strikes again. Didn't Sarah Palin go on night time snow machine rides with Joe Schmidt while Todd Palin was working on the north slope? Curtis Menard Jr., Brad Hanson, Joe Schmidt, and Glen Rice all left deposits for Todd.

OT: sort of Palin news: "Attention, everyone, for Our Lady Of However Many Immaculate Conceptions, Bristol Palin, has taken to the blogotubes to discuss how the media is doing all the liberal censorship crimes to our prince and Palin family hero Donald Trump, just because he said Megyn Kelly did a bad job moderating that debate due to profuse bleeding from her “wherever.” It’s a bad situation because, for one thing, Bristol is way too busy to be commenting on such things, but WHEN HER NATION CALLS, she answers."

One of the first people that the Walker administration got rid of was Joe Schmidt. Replaced him with Ron Taylor. Seems like Walker knew that the dept was corrupt and dirty and that the head guy was the problem, no big surprise, many of us in Alaska knew that Schmidt was a power hungry abuser...at least he's been fired and maybe now he might get to spend some time in those institutions that he used to manage, ya know, to give him and insider's view of how things work ;-)

Is there any connection between this story and the one that the verbose poster 'The Kid' on this site continues to write about in cryptic detail? I know people think that person is a phony but I for one am interested to know if there is a grain of truth in those posts.

Here's something way bigger for Alaska to be concerned about...

Beneath the Wildfires in Alaska, Melting Permafrost is Releasing Massive Amounts of Ancient Carbon

"The atmosphere thought it lost that carbon and all of a sudden it's being returned to the atmosphere after a prolonged period of time. That's the kind of carbon pulse to the atmosphere that actually can invoke additional climate change, above and beyond human emissions." Merritt Turetsky, a research ecologist from the University of Guelph in Canada.

I have seen allegations over the years that former Palinite Head of the AKDOC Joe Schmidt has family ties to the private prison industry. I have ever seen any proof of this but am still wondering if it could be true.

The past history of the private prison industry in Alaska reeks of corruption i.e. people like Bill Weimer partnering with Bill Allen and Wackenhut to build a private prison. Frank Prewitt ended up wearing a wire in Polar Pen and Pete Kott wanted to be a warden at VECO's prison in Barbados!

"“You’ll get your gas line, the governor gets his bill, and I’ll get my job in Barbados,” … Peter Kott, former Speaker of the House, as recorded during FBI Alaska bribery investigation. Kott was offered a position with VECO involving the new Barbados prison"

So is Joe Schmidt really related to someone i the private prison industry?

By the way- is Goose Creek sinking into the mud yet?

Walker's news release only mentions concern about the recent deaths and seems purely policy oriented. Having a former FBI agent involved in the investigation makes me wonder whether Walker will be willing to prosecute misconduct. In other words, does Joe Schmidt need to worry? And I also wonder whether they'll look at abuses during the Palin years and hold her accountable.

That would be too bad. The corruption is so deep and more than Sarah. It is a more complete truth to know how it was all passed on.

SSGT Michelle Larose Clark's case needs some looking into as well. A young woman reaches out for help, tells a trusted source that "they want to kill me" and is found dead 2 days later in her home. APD had been dispatched to her home 2 weeks earlier for a call of a prowler outside of her home.

The Medical Examiner, who previously had lost his license to practice in the State of Virginia, lost the placenta of her unborn baby during the autopsy.

Her former Commander created a trust registration with the Alaska Courts on the day after her obituary was published.

There is more, a lot more.....But nobody wants to touch this story......Why is that ?

B/c the corruption goes all the way to the top in AK. Corrupt bastards the FBI screwed up (I wonder on purpose since they are corrupt also) Hopefully this new gov will clean it up and that is why WGE invited him to her house to get him in her pocket?
Hopefully it didn't work. I imagine that certain people in the WGE administration are very afraid.

It was always interesting about the differences in the Sherry Johnston and Diana Palin cases. Since it looks like Senator John McCain was a big wheeler dealer around that time what are the chances of learning any facts or truth about the legal shenanigans going on with those arrests, sentences and treatment in the corrections department?

      Its time to revisit that.
Remember a trooper who made a grievance to his union? "When we SAW who IT WAS...it was out of our hands".
Why would Sherry Johnson be arrested by FBI? I heard a different story. That it was Bristol taken back to AK in handcuffs by the DEA and then all of a sudden the fbi "sting" from bristols friend who turned and named Sherry.
Needs to be revisited. I have tried to look for that Troopers story can't find it. GOV Walker has his work cut out for him....
