Rachel Maddow reveals that the group Donald Trump was fundraising for yesterday consists of one guy. Just one.

Courtesy of Raw Story:

MSNBC host Rachel Maddow exposed the “veterans group” using an appearance by Donald Trump as a fundraiser on Tuesday as an apparent one-man organization.

Trump’s appearance aboard the USS Iowa, she explained, was an event benefiting Veterans for a Strong America, with tickets ranging between $100 and $1,000.

However, Maddow said, the Federal Election Commission filings for the group’s PAC reveal that, besides having only $30 cash in hand and $318 in debts, the organization’s only member is founder Joel Arends.

“Donald Trump was not in the military, but he did use a pretty military backdrop tonight to raise money for a non-existent veterans’ group, which endorsed him formally as part of his introduction — and he said they have hundreds of thousands of members,” she said. “And they don’t. And so the whole thing is fake.”

(You can see Rachel's full report right here.)

You know I am sorry to admit that I watched this "speech" last night, but I have no idea why the speech was given, or what the point was behind it.

Unless the entire point was to raise money for this one guy, which I also don't understand.

Trump said he was going to talk policy, but unless I suffer from narcolepsy and passed out during that part nothing he said could be construed as having anything to do with a real in depth policy.

In fact the entire speech sounded as if the "I" key on his keyboard was stuck.

"I...I...America...I...I...drugs pour in...I...I...build a wall...I...I...make America great again."

Now look I enjoy a circus just as much as the next guy, but hasn't this particular clown overstayed its welcome?

Hard as I try I can find NO reason for Donald Trump to be at the top of the polls for GOP candidates.

At this point it seems as if the Republicans hate the Republican party so fucking much that they are willing to nominate a guy who will guarantee its demise.

Could that be it?

And if it is, does that kind of explain Sarah Palin as well?

"...they are willing to nominate a guy who will guarantee its demise."

Yes, they could. There comes a point in politicians lives with they just want out, but can't quit without looking like traitors, so they orchestrate their demise in outrageous acts and stupid remarks. They don't even know they are doing it. It happened in Canada.

After a few minutes his "speech" didn't seem to be going anywhere - and as it is hard for me to watch him I switched channels. Apparently, A Cooper didn't stay long on the speech and went on to other things. It was just more of the "I am and the Great and Powerful Wizard of OZ" kind of stuff".
What I found interesting, though, was Rachel's article about this particular vet group consisting of one person. In his speech didn't Trump mention a figure of how many people are in this organization? Hundreds of thousands? Did he fall for a con or did he really know what this was about. Strange.

I'm suspecting Trump knew nothing about this guys - as he is showing in so many others subjects! He hasn't had a 'team' working with him and, I suspect, doesn't listen to anyone (isn't use to doing so in business?) anyway.

Have a hankering he has been studying though for this debate. It's going to be interesting. Really hate the CNN and MSNBC coverage on the debate. They are billing it as "kill the lion! and how the female Republicanis going to knock him in his ass. She is nothing - a horrible representative of women - flunked in business big time (that is what I really think Trump detests about her!) - and has zero chance of becoming POTUS. Watch her when she is talking - very difficult to take - not warm - and, not attractive!

Trump isn't ALL wrong or bad, folks. He's brought a LOT to our attention which has been badly needed. He's got us all talking too!

      Either way looks bad
He's either dishonest or gullible or hired the wrong people to do research. All.suck when he's been touting his business acumen as the reason he'd make a good prez.

It is THE DONALD. No one fools THE DONALD. He knew what is with this guy. THE DONALD has the best staff and they would vet this guy before allowing THE DONALD to do that show on the Iowa. What? THE DONALD is a slacker when it comes to his staff and vetting?

The very same people who claim that President Obama is a dictator, working in secret to do all sorts of nefarious deeds, are applauding Trump when his only explanation of how he will 'make America great again' is "Trust me. I know how to do it."

A very conservative, religious friend just posted an article on Facebook about Obama signing an Executive Order giving him the power to institute martial law. While I usually just delete those kinds of posts from my more conservative friends, I had to respond to this one.

With a 3-second google search, I found that this heinous EO is actually just an updated version of one that was originally created in 1939 and amended by nearly every President since then, including TWO updates signed by George W Bush. The article hysterically proclaims that all sorts of new powers will be granted to the Director of DHS, Janet Napolitano. That might be a problem right there since she hasn't held that position in 2 years!

This friend is young, smart, and college educated, and yet still believes these ridiculously false stories. What hope do we have for the ignorant, narrow-minded bigots who are so easily led by con men like Trump?

Update: I gave her the link for Snopes and suggested she use it or another similar site in the future. She thanked me for correcting the misinformation and promised to delete the post. Guess maybe there's hope after all!

Good work- sounds like you got through. Next step- help her figure out who is behind the lie, and why it isn't accidental.

Remember anyone under 55 or so has no recollection of Tricky Dick's games , and when he was caught stepping on his dick. Many Republicans (not all- but the conservatives especially) are congenital liars, and have been for 40 years. This is what inspired dICK cheeny.

Although I detest Trump, I tried to watch the speech....I lasted about 5 minutes before switching to Netflicks. I thought it was supposed to be about his ideas, but as always it was all about ... "the Donald".

Nostradamus, not Nostradumbass Palin , who knows
everything. (Thank you Gryphen, that one is my favorite.)
Anyway, Nostradamus said the "Anti Christ" , one of
three, is wandering around somewhere at this time.
His job is to seduce the world with grandiose promises.
Trump is doing just that, but no way could a big, fat ,
blonde guy with a comb over and fish lips be the "Anti Christ."
