Another shooting today. How many days has it been since the last one? Update!

Courtesy of HuffPo:

A shooter opened fire on Friday at Northern Arizona University's Flagstaff campus, the school said. One person was killed and three people were injured.

The HuffPo article reveals the name of the shooter, but in deference to my President's new executive order forbidding the media from revealing  the names of future shooting suspects, I will leave it off this post. (It appears that this link might be a parody site. Perhaps if I had been in such a hurry to finish this post so that I could leave for the movies I might have caught that. Oh well everybody has an off day.)

I am not technically "the media," and I don't always follow the rules, but I happen to agree with this one wholeheartedly.

Isn't it interesting that as you read this story you feel a sense of relief that only ONE person was killed?

We have become to desensitized to senseless murder that our reaction to the death of one person seems barely worth acknowledging.

And that should depress all of us.

Update: Oops it looks like I spoke too soon there was another one today as well, and this one had two victims shot by three suspects at Texas University.

Update 2: And there was yet another one an Arizona campus, this one had four shot one fatally.

Multiple campus shootings in the same day. I guess THAT is what we've come to.

    1. In case members in the cult of shoot to kill run out of fleshy target ideas, Gov. Huckabee, Congressmen Louie Gohmert and Steve King - in tandem with a rabid Christian they revere - Theodore Shoebat, whom preaches (as others do)

“Anybody who refuses to Submit To Christianity Must be Put to Death”

All the above named godly men are starring in a religious right produced film endorsed by Mat Staver, World Net Daily, David Barton, and Matt Barber.

The rabid Shoebat already has his claim to preaching fame for insisting God created child rape for a purpose.....and....because God's will is never wrong, no earth bound mortal has a right to judge it let alone, get huffy about it.

Too long. Can't Sarah get on this? What did she do with Track?

Did you notice the url in your "new executive order" link starts with http://nbc.com.co/ instead of http://nbc.com? If not, you should check it out.

  4. We've had a shooting on the Texas Southern University campus today, too. They were on lockdown, but when they couldn't find the shooter, they lifted it.

It was a fraternity fight, and one member went to get his illegal firearm to demonstrate how strongly he felt about the issues,
thereby killing one of his classmates and wounding three others.

That is America now. Reach for your gun and mow down anyone who disagrees with you.

I hope the hapless freshman who killed his classmate will have decades behind bars to think of other ways to resolve a disagreement.

You can never start teaching kids too young. Bristol is such a cool mother. She is making sure Tripp will be a gun expert like his uncle Track. Tripp has Nerf guns but he can soon step it up now

  10. And ...there was a THIRD fatal shooting in a month on a Texas campus today as well.

A posted comment on a TX news station regarding their campus shooting of this morning provided a psychopath's intellectually constipated epic tome: “I think we can thank a democratic/progressive agenda that has created a class of victims that no longer believe they have any personal responsibility.”

    Make. It. Stop.

This was the first one today. The second one today was at Southern TX Univ. And it's only noon.

Yes, that is exactly what I thought. Less than ten, big deal.

    Go big or go home.

    On to the next one.

How resigned is that? I'm ashamed to be an American.

Two Victims Shot On Texas Southern University Campus

This is the second shooting at TSU this week.

Three suspects shot two male victims at Texas Southern University around 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Houston Police spokeswoman Jodi Silva said at a press conference Friday afternoon.

Silva said the shooting occurred at 3545 Blodgett Street, which is a campus-owned residential building.

All three suspects are male. Two were detained at the scene, and the third has yet to be apprehended.

According to the Houston Police Department, both victims were taken to the Memorial Hermann hospital. One was pronounced dead on arrival.

The victim who died was a TSU freshman, University President John Rudley said at the press conference Friday. The second victim is still alive, he noted, but suffered two gunshot wounds, one to his upper torso and one to his back. The Houston Police Department said that victim is in stable condition.

This is the second shooting this week at TSU.

    SHAME ON THEM!

Armed Protesters Gather As Obama Visits Oregon Shooting Victims' Families

Gun-toting protesters gathered on Friday morning to await President Obama's arrival in Roseburg, Ore., where he planned to meet with the families of victims of last week's mass shooting at Umpqua Community College.

But local residents planned to protest Obama's visit, saying he rushed to "politicize" the tragedy by pushing a gun control agenda.

"My family, my friends, everybody down here is not happy about him coming," Michelle Finn, a Umpqua alumna and Roseburg native, told the Oregonian. "He already says he's going to politicize this — he's already going to push his agenda."

A Facebook event page for a protest dubbed "Defend Roseburg - Deny barack 0bama" [sic], had garnered more than 8,000 RVSPs by Friday. In its lengthy event description, organizers suggested attendees carry a handgun as opposed to a rifle, but reiterated "you have the right to carry what you wish."

I'm sure that if there were some carrying guns due to President Obama's visit that they were no where near him as to location. The Secret Service group would not have allowed it and remember, they review areas before the POTUS arrives.

    1. Or, put up one of those signs like in factories: number of days without a shooting. But, yes, shame on Americans for voting in such intransigent law makers who will not govern for the good of the electorate who clearly want gun laws changed.

      intransigent
      adjective
      1.
unwilling or refusing to change one's views or to agree about something.
synonyms: uncompromising, inflexible, unbending, unyielding, diehard, unshakable, unwavering, resolute, rigid, unaccommodating, uncooperative, stubborn, obstinate, obdurate, pigheaded, single-minded, iron-willed, stiff-necked

"The regime remained intransigent in its opposition to wider participation in the political process."

Why don't you do something about it? Organise a march in DC?
Honestly, your country is more corrupt than some of the African countries where you go to oversee elections.

You need to get out onto the streets and demonstrate.

We had three separate gun killings in our city last night, and we've become desensitized beyond repair, we only make a big deal over mass murders. Journalism has to change, we have to change, and most of all, we've got to make it a pivotal issue in debates and the ballot box.
I'm usually against "one issue" voters, but I'm sick of seeing all the senseless deaths from guns.
