Everyone’s telling me to shut up about commenting on the issue in Washington State… Do they not realize what is going on? (I'm going to say "yes" here.)
You have to get a parents approval to take aspirin or ibuprofen at school, you have to have your parents present to go tanning in a tanning bed, or get your eye brows waxed, or get your belly button or ears pierced. But girls as young as 10 – YES I SAID 10 – can get an IUD put in without their parents knowing???????
How is that NOT black and white to people? (Uh..because it's NOT black and white?)
I know I’m the last to talk about birth control. (Two baby daddies right? LOLZ!)

But I am expecting a girl and do have a 14 year old sister and I would be so concerned for her going into a clinic and having something pretty serious put into her body. (I told you it was a girl.)
I’m not against birth control by ANY MEANS so do not twist my words. But I am against the government going between a parent and a child at such a young age. THERE IS A BIG DAMN DIFFERENCE. 10-11-12 year olds don’t know what’s best for them.
Their parents do.
(Yes but these IUDs are implanted with a surgical procedure, which requires a doctor. And surely even Bristol Palin recognizes that doctors are perfectly capable of telling their patients what is good or not good for them.)
So anyone who’s saying I have “no place to talk” .. Let’s look at the issue – the important part of this entire blog post – why I brought it to your attention.
WE as parents know what’s best for our young daughters – NOT the government. (For clarifications sake the "government" is NOT placing IUDs in the bodies of little girls. Doctors do that. And just for a moment imagine the likelihood of a ten year old girl transporting herself to a clinic in order to get an IUD all on her own. More than likely if any ten year olds have received these, they did so with their parents fully aware.)
Okay now I am not at this point certain whether Nancy French has been channeling Bristol so long that she is now typing like a barely educated Wasillabilly or if in fact Brislt wrote all or part of this.
I will let you decide.
However it is worth noting that whoever is the driving force behind these posts, and it could very well be Sarah herself, they are becoming increasingly defensive and combative.
Which makes it seem that somebody, or perhaps a couple of somebodies, are on the verge of a complete, and very public, breakdown.
Well I've got my popcorn.
Personally, I would much rather have sexually active 10-12 year olds have IUDs implanted, than to have them become pregnant, and have to choose between having an abortion or carrying to term and going through labor e delivery. But, I doubt there are that many sexually active 10-12 year olds.

One reason that a kid 10-12 years old is having sex is because they are being sexually abused at home. That is the reason why the parents' permission is not required. You don't ask the abuser and the enabler for permission to protect the kid. I hope that people at the school are also trained to watch for signs of child abuse and that as mandated reporters, it is reported to the proper authorities. The kid probably needs some other help as well as protection against pregnancy. A 10 or 12 year old kid is too young to have a baby.

Oh, you ask, how could loving parents neglect the care of their child? Take a look at all of the therapy that Trig has not gotten. Parents are not perfect, and sometimes the authorities are the only ones who can help the child. It's too bad that's what it takes.
But, I doubt there are that many sexually active 10-12 year olds.

Unfortunately, there is a limited amount of scientific data on adolescent sexual behavior. There are generational differences depending on what poll you look at. Then there is always the question of the truth of people partaking in the polls.

Some said as young as 8...now if they answered a poll would they tell the truth or were they lying to me? Yes, there ARE 10 y/o children having sex. And there were TWO - one in 2014, and one in 2015 - who got an IUD implanted. Don't know the reason, can only guess, and do not really want to think about the fact that there are 10y/o children who need it. (Could it be that they were mentally handicapped, and do not know what they are doing, but somehow have an overly developed sex drive (like 'our'Bri$$y seems to have, too)?)

DeleteAbsolutely! In my family a teen and her boyfriend of a different race had an "accident" while still in high school. The grandparents and great- grandparents all rallied around to help out and show that baby unconditional love. Everyone put aside differences to make sure the baby was well cared for and that the parents finished high school and got some education beyond. It can be done as long as the adults put the child's best interests first.

I'm still remembering Sarah's speech in Iowa where she sounded as if her medication hadn't kicked in, or worse, as if she took 'way too much. Since then, she has rarely appeared on Fox. Her private SPC didn't make her an internet star. As people announced that they were running for president, Sarah's absence was noted. Even her most loyal fans in the Pee Pond have finally realized that she's not running and she doesn't have much of a political voice. My favorite comments were the ones which said that they were not going to contribute to SarahPAC. They would just give the money directly to the candidates they liked. So Sarah's star has faded. Does that mean that Bristol-and-Nancy are the new, alternate voice of Sarah, now that she doesn't get any attention? They can't possibly be grooming Bristol for political office or a speaking career. The girl has no personality, and she is permanently stuck in her teens. Are they hoping to get Bristol another TV reality show, this time the Christian single mother raises two or three kids all by herself (with help of course, behind the scenes). The last show was a complete bomb and got moved out of prime time because it was so bad. Bristol seems to have one talent, and we are about the see the results of it this month or next. I can count 40 weeks, too, from a time when Bristol got ahead of herself. How are she and Nancy going to turn that Huge Disappointment into a Bundle of Joy and Every Life is Precious-- and makes some money off of it?

I'm guessing Bristol didn't write this for two reasons.
1) It is not quite illiterate enough for Bristol. It reads more like Nancy French is seeing more comments here and elsewhere to the effect that she is Bristol's ghostwriter and she is making another futile and hapless effort to sound like a teenager (except of course, Bristol is a woman and a parent in her mid-twenties and should damn well act like it).
2) Does anyone think Bristol gives the tiniest shit about anyone or anything other than herself and her quest for the perfect stupid-assed duck-lipped selfie? Seriously, the idea that Bristol and her vacuous little pea brain devotes even one moment of her day to contemplating policy issues is just not believable.

ReplyDeleteOn another blog post, a commentator wrote that the 4 ten to twelve year old girls who received IUD's were all severely impaired physically and in wheel chairs. They had a form of mental retardation, and the IUD was precautionary, as is often advised when a girl has cerebral palsy or a similar disorder. The parents of these girls know that sexual assault can happen and are advised to get an IUD just in case. Also, you could not find a doctor who would implant an IUD into a ten year old without an extraordinary circumstance.

Maybe we're starting to make some progress in reaching her or Brancy or Sarah - you did say that Bristol reads IM, right? As long as the criticism bothers her and she'll address her critics' arguments we have something to work with.
ReplyDeleteHowever, the fact that Bristol chose to write an LOL after acknowledging that she has two baby daddies shows that she doesn't really think illegitimacy is anything wrong. She probably justifies her decision to have two children (3, 4, ?) based on the idea that she has a large family who she knows will help her and support her. When illegitimacy started to be romanticized in the 1980s, conservatives didn't acknowledge what was happening. The best they could do was half-heartedly argue that a girl was harming her chances for a career by having a baby outside of marriage or point out that it was hard to support a child without the economic input of it's father. This was foolish because it reduced the case against unwed motherhood to solely an economic case. Young girls from middle class or upper middle class families then received the idea that only welfare or ghetto single motherhood was bad and that as for every other kind of girl wanting a baby was enough. Eventually this attitude spread and influenced even some girls in conservative households. This influence overwhelmed the influence of the weaker conservative families - one of which was the Palins.
Bristol's messed up life is partly the fault of the conservative movement of the 1980's, which should have seen this coming. For my part in this fiasco I apologize to Bristol, Levi, Tripp, and this new baby. They all deserved better.
Teen pregnancies have long been the norm in hillbilly families like the Palins who are now such a crucial part of the GOP base. How better to perpetuate a lifestyle of ignorance than to guarantee that no girl and few boys can pursue higher education? "Blind eye" my eye: the Rovesque faction of the GOP needs their base to keep breeding like bunnies, the earlier the better. I do agree, however, that they might have been caught off guard by a change in the winds such that those good little Red State girls no longer automatically get married when they got knocked up. Darned shame, when good Christian girls become frickin' poster children for the moral decay GOP leaders decry. So much harder to stake claim to the moral high ground. True parents can not prevent their child seeking birth control in Washington but no one nor the government is dictating, ordering or forcing kids ten and up to get an IUD. I pity Bristol that she is delusional either she decides or the government because a responsible parent would tend to these matters, provide resources like the pediatrician and openly educate her offspring offering guidance and setting limits. DeleteOf all the things to blog on, Bristol picks stories about a tiny tiny minority of the population, where a 10, 11-year-old would be granted IUD's without parental permission. I'd say that a young girl who decides to have one inserted without her parents' permission is the kind of girl who doesn't get much parental attention or affection. The real problem with this scenario isn't about contraception, as it is about the dire situation of a family who don't know what their female children do behind closed doors. What it says is that a young girl may be influenced by peers to have sex and she doesn't have parents who care enough to discuss the issues.

I actually think that those 10 and 11year old girls have some physical and/or mental limitation, and their parents actually were the ones who chose to have the IUDs inserted into them. Better an IUD than a pregnancy for, say, a severely mentally handicapped girl that might have a very high sex drive, or that is in a situation where she could be taken advantage of/raped w/o being able to tell anyone.

So what kind of mother is Sarah? She just let her daughter learn about sex on the streets, and in her own way, allowed Bristol to do whatever she wanted, permission or no permission. Let's get one thing straight about Sarah Palin and not telling people until the 7th month of her so called pregnancy. SARAH PALIN WAS NOT PREGNANT IN 2008. She had already had a "two-bull" after Piper was born. It was Bristol who was pregnant in 2007, and to escape the Wasilla gossip, she got mono and went to live with an aunt in Anchorage, who happened to have some kids who would have caught the so called mono.
DeleteGossip in Wasilla? In 2007 emails, Sarah was already trying to get in front of the rumor that Bristol was pregnant. In my space comments, Bristol complained that her mother thought she was pregnant so Sarah took away Bristol's phone for a couple of days in the summer of 2007 as punishment.
For the record, Trig may have officially appeared in the middle of April 2008, but he was born much earlier. Sarah's magical pregnancy coincided with a time when they realized that the premature DS infant would live and Sarah needed him as her credentials for the Right to Life Crowd, She had already been asking Levi and Bristol if she could adopt their kid. Not taking No for an answer, when McCain cinched the GOP nomination in March 2008, Sarah announced that she was 7 months pregnant, thereby taking possession of Trig. She didn't show a bit, strange, considering that in her other pregnancies, she was photographed as big as a house. Although she claimed that the baby would be born in May, Trig was officially presented in the middle of April when he was well enough to leave the hospital. Even then, he needed light treatments and he was born with a hole in his heart. That family is a living soap opera and a house of lies.

DeleteThe resolution is good enough to tell that it isn't Trig. The nose is the real give-away, but also the size of the child: his head reaches above the back edge of the seat without a booster seat. Going on 9 yrs old, I'm thinking: the brown-haired toddler who Tank saw with Levi back in 2008. I think the ear is a red herring: the resolution is not good enough to see it clearly, and what looks like a notch could simply be a small lock of hair, or even a shadow.

DeleteEver since the 'cancelled' wedding, I have believed that Sarah and Bristol have been on the outs. I still believe that to be true. I don't recall seeing any pictures of them together since that time, there's been no acknowledgement of Bristol's pregnancy by Sarah and their public social media and blog posts seem to have a very adversarial edge to them. I think that the majority of Bristol's Patheos posts come from Sarah, with the word salad translations by Nancy French. I really don't think that Bristol has much, if any, input into her own blog - or maybe I should say the blog in her name only.
ReplyDeleteDo any IM'ers have similar feelings about Sarah & Bristol's relationship? Is it broken? Has anyone seen pictures of them together since the wedding that didn't happen? Also too, has Willow mentioned anything about Bristol's new daughter?
Who wouldn't be excited about having a brand new baby girl coming into the world, but the echo of crickets in the Palin family is overwhelming.
I don't think they're relationship was ever not broken. Sarah doesn't really have relationships, not the kind genuine humans have.

The relationship is not completely over as long as Sarah is financially supporting Bristol. Even when Nancy French writes Patheos posts in Bristol's name, she must be paid by SarahPAC since she supplies an alternate voice for Sarah Palin. Sarah often links to a Bristol FB which links to a Patheos post, so the connection is still there.
DeleteSarah did wave that "diamond" engagement ring around after Bristol and Dakota's wedding was called off. It was a sign that she had planned the wedding, and she took back the one item of value that she could get her hands on. Sarah and Dakota would have derived mutual political benefit from the marriage. Bristol? There wasn't much in there for her, living in rural Kentucky with few places to show off her bribes, I mean, her Louboutin shoes and Louis Vuitton purses.
Come to think of it, I haven't seen Sarah show much affection towards Trig, Tripp or Kayla (Track's baby?). I remember Bristol's first TV interview after giving birth to Tripp. Bristol spoke for a few minutes about abstinence and Sarah burst in, stealing the scene and announcing in a nasty way, "Here's your little bundle of joy."
I think that Bristol and Sarah have had a love-hate relationship for a long time. There was Bristol, the rebellious teen who wasn't getting much attention and love at home. There were rumors of Bristol being pregnant in the summer of 2007. When she was chosen as McCain's VP, she had to explain Bristol's pregnancy and put Bristol on the national stage of embarrassment. If Bristol gave birth to Trig and Sarah took charge of him, then their animosity goes back quite a while. Now, it looks like, "Here's your kid back. You take care of him."Just a guess on my part but I think that Bristol and Sarah's love-hate thing goes further back than the cancelled wedding.
Oh, and one more thing about the wedding. Bristol's previous public image was of her barefoot, crying about her $300. sunglasses to the Anchorage Police after The Brawl. Sarah needed to clean up Bristol's party girl image. Arranging for Bristol to come to Las Vegas at the end of January for the Shot Show was a way to introduce Bristol to Dakota and make a political match. It would give Bristol a good image, being engaged and then married to MOH. There was political advantage for Dakota (who wanted to run for office) and Sarah (to be able to address veterans groups). Bristol threw all of that away when she got ahead of herself. No wonder Sarah is royally pissed. Now the only groups where she can give a speech are those Right to Lifers.

DeleteThe daughter kept popping out little bastards. After the third one you can believe the foremost talk in the family was about having an adult daughter neutered by any means possible. There is no way Sarah wants to go on with this problem. Or repeat something like this again. She wants to get the Bristol problem taken care of and for it to never happen to Sarah again.
The fact she can't speak about this baby is a big give away from what Sarah must actually have on her mind about it.
Sarah can't say or do anything in a public way. She can go on and on about Planned Parenthood stuff, other birth control and other kids.

DeleteIt's easy to do for $varry: simply talk to Bri$$y's OBGYN, and tell him or her that right after birth, they are to 'snip' her. Easy especially with a C-Section, but also otherwise. A nice little nribe might not cost too much especially not in the way of potential future benefits of not having to acknowledge yet another, and another, and... little bastard baby!

I make it a point to write a comment wherever "Brisdull's" writing appears and call out the "news reporter" on not verifying Bristol's byline. I tell them that Bristol's blog posts are written by Nancy French, who is on the payroll of $arahPac to do so.
I challenge them that it's not ok for a "news" organization to print anything by anyone, without taking the time to verify the writer/facts.
I really do think it is making a difference. I haven't seen any PayMe postings ($creech or Chin) recently on TPM or Mediate. Shame on HuffPo.
Media today, especially online, are pimps to website clicks. Sensationalism trumps substance every time. I encourage all IMers to do the same to reveal this grifting sham.

IUDs are not "surgically" placed. They are inserted into the uterus and a little string hangs out, like one made of thin fishing line. There is no cutting into the body of the woman, no matter what age.
ReplyDeleteWell, in a way you are correct, 3:01. There is no cut needed. However, an IUD is placed into the uterus, past the cervix. That means, the cervix needs to be dilated first. An amateur cannot do this herself.

If the office patient "idiot" comment is even true, the publicity of such an event happening in one of her safe places would have really angered her, embarrassed her in front of her co-workers and the feedback from the net was hard to deal with. Writing a story about a patient, when you work in a Doc's office is an ultimate betrayal of office professionalism. Should cost her her job. But, she didn't write it. Like almost all of the postings, the writing was too polished.
The 10 year old having an IUD inserted post is typical French bullshit, but it really blew up in Bristol's face, more so than usual. So the disloyalty of either divulging or concocting the "idiot" story followed so closely with the hypocrisy of the IUD posting was too much. Even for Bristol.
The proximity of the two posts and the huge net reax put Bristol in a very dark place and so she went in for the kill shot....defending the IUD post herself, calling herself out as one who has no business writing about it while also supporting birth control, associating the ever popular shield Piper with the subject and linking a photo of school age Ruffles.
Have to give Bristol the points on this round. And have to give Bristol a bit of advice. Make.The.Deal. Sell the book rights and get a real writer to help you pull it together. You will be able to gather all your children around, live where you want, hire nannies and housekeepers and live a nice life, more frugally than now, but nice nevertheless.
Perhaps with some counseling you can right yourself, enter into a long and meaningful commitment with a real person and live well.
