GOP in panic over Donald Trump's candidacy, however polls show that the honeymoon might be ending.

Courtesy of The Hill:

The Republican establishment is nearing full-blown panic about Donald Trump. The demise of Trump’s candidacy has been predicted by centrist Republicans and the media alike virtually since the day it began. But there is no empirical evidence at all to suggest it is happening.

Last month, the liberal Think Progress collated more than 30 predictions of the business mogul’s imminent demise. One typical example was The Washington Post’s Jonathan Capehart, who discerned “the beginning of the end of Trump” in mid-July, soon after the mogul criticized the Vietnam War record of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.)

Despite all that, Trump has led the Real Clear Politics (RCP) polling average in a virtually unbroken spell for four months. The only person to briefly wrest the lead away from him, Dr. Ben Carson, appears to be fading. And numerous polls show Trump drawing double the support of his closest establishment-friendly rival, Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.)

Add to all this the fact that Trump’s lead over the rest of the GOP field has expanded since the terrorist attacks in Paris, and it becomes clear why anxiety among his many Republican critics is reaching new heights.

Interestingly enough on the same day that this article was written another one from Reuters stated that Trump's poll numbers are starting to dip for the first time since he announced his candidacy:

U.S. presidential hopeful Donald Trump's support among Republicans has dropped 12 points in less than a week, marking the real estate mogul's biggest decline since he vaulted to the top of the field in July, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll.

Trump was the favorite of 31 percent of Republicans in a rolling poll in the five days ended on Nov. 27. That was down from a peak of 43 percent registered on Nov. 22.

The dip follows criticism of Trump for comments he made in the aftermath of the Nov. 13 Paris attacks that killed 130 people and wounded hundreds more.

Following the attacks, Trump told an NBC News reporter that he would support requiring all Muslims within the United States to be registered to a special database, which his critics have likened to the mandatory registration of Jews in Nazi Germany.

A quick look at Real Clear Politics shows that Trump is definitely losing ground, but the frightening thing is that those breathing down his neck such as Ben Carson, Ted Cruz, and Marco Rubio are really not any better.

In fact is some ways they are even worse.

So if the Republican party wants to be in a panic, they should panic over the fact that ALL of the candidates most likely to win the nomination represent a sideshow of ill prepared, mentally unbalanced, egomaniacs who will no doubt continue leading the country down the path of destruction first laid out by our LAST Republican president.

Personally if I was not convinced that Hillary Clinton could beat any of these losers with both hands tied behind her back I might do a little panicking myself.

Dear congress, fix your health care bullshit. There's a very good reason companies are getting desperate to drop obamacare.

Huh? "Companies" don't use the ACA unless they are small businesses. But do tell what those "reasons" are. I'm up for a little convoluted Teabag "logic" on a Sunday morning.

Obamacare is merely built-in federal mandated protections for the healthcare consumer. If you have a problem with a particular health insurance company, then let's hear your beef.

I personally know several republicans who got health insurance for the first time because of Obamacare. Republicans everywhere, love Obamacare.

    1. I have nightmares thinking about Rubio or Cruz winning next November but then I remember that Trump is such an egomaniac he will refuse to go away and would even resort to running as an Independent third party candidate. Of course that scenario would practically guarantee a Clinton victory!

    2. Saw this just now on What Do I Know? blog --

Right now, he [Trump] has 25 to 30 percent of the vote in polls among the roughly 25 percent of Americans who identify as Republican. (That’s something like 6 to 8 percent of the electorate overall, or about the same share of people who think the Apollo moon landings were faked.) As the rest of the field consolidates around him, Trump will need to gain additional support to win the nomination. That might not be easy, since some Trump actions that appeal to a faction of the Republican electorate may alienate the rest of it. Trump’s favorability ratings are middling among Republicans (and awful among the broader electorate).

Donald Trump is a very unattractive man physically and has a nasty heart and soul.

He appears to be obese with that fat pudgy face and neck and likely a heart attack candidate with his often red-flushed face!

He is in no way material for POTUS!

Can you imagine if President Obama acted like him (just one tiny bit?) Trump needs to be tarred and feathered just like the extreme right would do to President Obama if they had the chance!

Thank God we've had a president like President Obama and have seen what a kind, steady, respectful, knowledgeable and anti-war POTUS is really like! I personally don't think anyone is going to be a good replacement for him!

Trump doesn't begin to have the temperament to handle the job!

The media keeps pumping Trump up and making him look as though he has huge support from Americans. Look at his percentages that indicate only being taken from Republicans! 20% plus category which he's held for months!

He'll never be POTUS when everyone votes and elections are held in 2016! Shit, he likely will not be picked for the primary race for the Republicans IF they are smart! Hillary Clinton is going to win against any of the Republicans!

The media uses him basically to get their numbers up as to viewership. I stopped watching all the shows except for Rachel Maddow on MSNBC. Watch her folks - she's very educational & doesn't cover Trump like the other media outlets. Damn, but I wish they'd put her on Sundays - she'd eat their lunch! And, Trump won't go on her show - he's scared to death of her! (She has given him an open invitation too!)

I must give a shout out for Steve Kornacki and Alex Wagner.

I'll never forget when Steve Kornacki first started working for MSNBC, the Christie bridgegate story was just breaking. Steve Kornacki revealed that one of his first jobs in journalism was working for David Wildstein who has struck a plea deal with prosecutors in that case. Anyway, Steve Kornack revealed that the main thing Wildstein instructed him to do was to NEVER talk policy or issues.

That is their MO. Donald tRump is not saying anything the GOP hasn't already said in some form. He is them on steroids. Talking points is all they've got.

From one media and blog fear factor to another - from Trump and now to the others that 'could' be candidates? Give me a friggin' break. The drama factor is getting old and that's all it is!

The Republican candidates are not going to win!!! Hillary Clinton has it in the bag! Time to stop stressing everyone!

With Bill Clinton and Barack Obama on the campaign trail to generate enthusiasm, I think Hillary will be just fine with voter turnout.

I think that Trump started his "campaign" as a joke, another attention-getter, like his continued birther claims against Obama well after Obama showed all of his documentation. Then, Trump got caught up in the possibility that he just might make it to the final round in selecting the Republican nominee. He still sticks his foot in his mouth every time he speaks, and then has to correct himself. No, he didn't make fun of a disabled reporter. No, this time when he throws someone out of his appearance, he will throw the guy out "nicely." Never mind that Trump is still violating the guy's first amendment rights, whether he violates them in an ugly way or a nice way, it's a violation of freedom of speech. Trump is still making it up as he goes. Why hasn't the Republican party seen him as an embarrassment by now? They must realize that if he is their nominee, they will lose. Minorities who has been insulted by Trump won't vote for him and he can't win with just the far right white guy racist vote. Trump is the Ultimate Ugly American. Aren't the Republicans ashamed of him being their image?

Shame? Surely you jest. The GOP has no shame. They would have to have a conscience to feel shame, and they sold that to the Devil years ago. No, he says what they all think, and secretly, they are glad to have the words out there. They are convinced that the schemers behind the scenes can throw the election for whichever of them buys enough primary votes. Let's all pray to whomever that they are wrong, or America is gone.

No, it isn't a violation of freedom of speech. If a candidate rents a private venue, they can control the guest list. And throw out disrupters.

      5:23-- You're perfectly right.

The thing that got me was not that Trump requested the man be removed, but that there are many ways known to police or professional security guards to remove someone from an event without "roughing them up", and without allowing members of the crowd to choke, kick, and scream racial insults at the person--
WITH the stated approval of the candidate, no less.

Can you imagine the Donald at a state dinner, or some high-level, sensitive political meeting?

If his mission was to make America a laughing stock again, he has already succeeded.

Outside America, this old guy is just a moronic loudmouth rich American with a lot of bankruptcies under his belt and a reality show that was on TV years ago. We marvel that he is even eligible to run for President.

What scares me is that the Repulsives have stolen elections before and I fear that they will do it again. They could combine the best qualities of all the GOP goofballs and they still wouldn't have a candidate who would be able to beat Hillary IF it's an honest election.

I can't stand Trump. But, if he falls, then there's the huge nightmare of Ted Cruz right behind him. I'm in Texas--Cruz is a dangerous man. Just the thought that Trump or Cruz could be the nominee is plain nightmarish. It's just my opinion that Trump is more beatable than Cruz---but I've heard it from others, too. Cruz is a grandstanding snake.

It has been quite entertaining watching the chumpster eviscerate his fellow GOP candidates. He is starting to wear quite thin, however. I heard him on Meet the Press this morning. When asked about his allegations about Muslims tailgating while celebrating the fall of the Twin Towers, tRump, "of course it is true, why wouldn't it be true, I've had hundreds of tweets confirming what I saw."
