Mitt Romney once again rejects calls for him to enter the 2016 presidential campaign.

Courtesy of the Daily Mail:

Mitt Romney is resisting pleas from within the Republican Party to join the 2016 race as a fail-safe against Donald Trump and Ben Carson.

'I'm not running, I'm not planning on running,' he told Today's Savannah Guthrie this morning.

Guthrie asked the 68-year-old about the rumors this morning and noted that neither Trump nor Carson have foreign policy experience.

Romney seemed unconcerned and pointed out that 15 Republicans are competing for the party's blessing and without naming names said that 'among them maybe two or three that could potentially become our nominee and also win the general election.'

As the primary process plays out, those people 'will be found to have the experience necessary,' he said.

Asked point blank on NBC who would be 'better' and have 'more experience' dealing with foreign affairs - Trump or the likely Democratic nominee, Clinton, Romney said, 'There's no question that Hillary Clinton has a lot of experience - she just has very bad experience.'

I don't know which is more humorous, that Republicans are so worried about nominating Trump or Carson that they would beg Romney to enter the race, or that they actually think Romney would have a better chance against Hillary than he had against Obama.

Well to be honest I think the most humorous part of this article was the inclusion of Sarah Palin:

Former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin on the other hand left the door open in an interview that aired yesterday to political office.

'I'd be willing. That's a good way to put it,' she said in a CBS special.

Well there you go Republicans. If you are unhappy with the current front runners you could always attempt to recruit Sarah Palin.

Nah, there is no way I would get that lucky.

By the way it should be remembered that this marks the second time that moderate Republicans tried to convince Romney to run, and the second time he told them "Hell no!"

I don't have any hope that ANY of those GOP candidates can give a detailed nuanced answer to the parrot-like repeated media questions asked of President Obama about ISIL today, like he did. Read PoliticusUSA's story:

But you have to admit, he's head and shoulders better than anyone they've got running now! (ok, not saying much, but still...)

Hell, I can't stand him, but if I had to choose, I'd feel less terrified if Mitt won than any of the other GOP clown car occupants.

His ego gets him every time. The Romney's think they are destined to run the country. Frightening. But so does Jebya.

What makes Romney think he has any more foreign affairs experience than Trump or Carson? When Romney took an international trip while campaigning in 2012, he was pretty good at putting his foot in his mouth. However, I wouldn't be surprised to see Romney nominated by the GOP establishment since the rest of the candidates on the "GOP deep bench" are worthless.

That was his problem in 2012. So, he went to England and promptly insulted them. He has no more experience in foreign policy than I have. Remember in 2008, the McCain camp sent Palin to New York after her statement 'where does he (Putin) go? It's Alaska,' as her foreign policy expertise. In New York, she was photographed with Henry Kissenger! Oh snap! Ok, she's got foreign policy experience, see? She's sitting next to Henry fucking Kissenger!!

I'm shocked Romney said 'no'! He's smarter than I thought! And, as to Palin, we all know she's an idiot and would say she'd run! Makes me laugh! As if she'd be named over Ted Cruz!

It's mass manipulation. Why do you think the field is so very weak? GOP will beg and then be thankful when he agrees. Cults (think Mormon's and Scientology) are masters of this and our society is ripe for it.

Dear Mittens: Stay at home with Queen Ann and your worthless boys and grandchildren. You can't and won't beat Hillary. Don't be a bigger glutton for punishment than you've already been. You suck.

Hey, Gryphen -- I think you meant that Romney said "Hells to the no!"
Please try to keep up with the latest hip slang. I've heard that expression used recently on the teevee by a real political insider.

I'd rather see the GOP nominate Romney than any of the current contenders. Can't stand him but he doesn't scare me.
I don't think he'd hesitate if he thought he had a chance to win.

  12. Frankly, I always thought the GOP would get Romney by taking it to convention and overthrowing whatever maniac won the primaries. Romney couldn't run now or the insane clown posse would shred him in the middle of a town square.

Someone told Mittens to mention Palin, these things are never random. I'd love to see her finally cast her net into the sea of GOP candidates. Face it, if she doesn't do it this year then she never will. She became nationally irrelevant about 3 years ago and by 2020 she will no longer even have name recognition. 2016 is basically her "shit or get off the pot" moment. I doubt it will happen especially since she has admitted that she has faltered badly even in the Couric softball interview. Instead of making herself stronger in the political arena she has crapped out a major mea culpa in an attempt to sell a couple thousand "Palin Bible" books. She's done, except for a few hardcore religious idiots that support the common thinking of her skewed view of religion and world politics there is no one else that would subscribe to her form of madness.

I so wish she would run because it would be the stake in her heart, but instead of a quick and clean kill, we'll just always have her hanging around the sidelines gettin' the few evangelical retards that still love her excited and allowing her to just roam around the shadow lands of the political process pretending that she matters. She's gonna be with us until anorexia stops her heart.

OT but good news and some validation of a man who was treated very shabbily but the Quitter Governor just because he called her out on her bullshit. Good on ya Governor Walker for giving Monegan an even temporary job to try to fix what is wrong in this department.

    http://www.adn.com/article/20151116/walker-fires-corrections-commissioner-after-report-finds-failures-alaska-prisons

Of course, Palin's ex-high school boyfriend Joe Schmidt was fired in Dec 2014 when Gov. Walker took office because Schmidt basically caused all of the problems that overtook our correctional system because, guess what, he was as ill-equipped to be head of corrections as Palin was to be Governor, so now, most of Palin's appointments (bye bye Havemeister!) and tax strategies and everything else she did to break our state are being phased out.

Kudos to Walker for kicking these assholes to the curb and giving a good man a chance to, at least on a temporary basis, fix some of the shit that Palin broke. We Alaskans always knew this time would come, but damn, it was hard to watch her break shit, and her quitting was not enough, because she left a bunch of "little Palin types" behind in our Government, but Governor Walker has a big broom and is systematically sweeping them away!

Good luck Mr Monegan. The Palin Parnellites have no doubt monkey wrenched the whole corrections system.

What made Schmidt qualified to be head of corrections? The fact that he dated a future criminal?

      Ha! Well put 6:04!

I have family on the front lines of the prison system. Schmidt's actions put every officer and many prisoners in grave danger. Corrections officers are very happy with the change of command.

  17. It's likely going to be the Latino Republican Obama 2 against Hilary, maybe with establishment Ohio to get to crucial states, and it may work. That's what toppled Clinton last time. Originality is not expected though Trump is right there Doubt if he'll get the nomination--too original
